Discussion Who will get Ace's Mera Mera no Mi (Fire) Devil Fruit?

I updated the poll. There is no option for other. If you think someone will win it who is not on the poll, just post about it. I think the writing is on the wall that Sabo will win it.

I voted rebecca. Though i hope its wicca who gets it. Of all the options, i think rebecca has the best suitability after seeing her dodge hakuba and all.her defense is great. Both defense and offense will be better once she gets the fruit.
I dont want sabo to get it though. Sabo is aces bro. It would make him look like a villain if he gets the fruit. He couldnt save ace but he obtained his fruit. I dont like that. Plus, it sounded like he wants someone else to inherit aces will.

One similarity i noticed in rebecca and ace is the way they dress. Ace was always half naked. Rebecca is also half naked. (well more than half actually.) ace prolly wore less cause he was a fireman (literally). Idk if its a factor pointing rebecca getting the fruit. But still, similarities may be foreshadowings of some sort right?

Why would Sabo be reintroduced, ask Luffy to cease his pursuit, switch places with him, and enter the final round of the tournament only to have Rebecca acquire the fruit? Writing the events that lead Sabo back into the story, into the colosseum, and the final round of the tournament sounds likes a non-sequitur if anyone else gets the thing. Getting the mera mera no mi into any other characters hands would take some pretty brutal, hard to fathom, plot contrivances.

He could be there in his capacity as a revolutionary. We know because of Koala that he's not just there all by himself, and since he told her to find out what was happening underground we can be fairly sure he's not just there for the fruit. Given that Dressrosa is about to undergo a revolution there's a perfectly uncontrived reason for him to be there. There's a possibility that he's going to play a bigger role in this arc than the fruit. (And I actually hope this is the case. Having him reappear in the story at this point just for the fruit, rather than at Marineford for Ace's life itself, would feel like a waste.)

I voted for Sabo because i don't think the fruit suits Rebecca or Burgess so well, Rebecca doesn't want to hurt anybody except for DD so i don't see why oda would give her the fruit when we all know she won't be defeating him lol a defensive fruit like Bartolomeo one's would be better for her.

As for burgess it's just a theory but since we know BB is hunting strong DF users i thought Burgess would end up with Diamond Jozu DF since both of them have similar fighting style and it was hinted ( i think? ) that Zoro would one day fight a diamond man http://www.mangareader.net/103-2303-12/one-piece/chapter-196.html
+ Jozu was able to stop Mihawk attack with it so it would be a good way to show Zoro being stronger than him one day

So that's why i believe Sabo will get the fruit !

Well, I think it's pretty clear that Sabo will definitely win the competition.
It wouldn't make sense to introduced such a hyped character only to have him lose.

But that doesn't mean that he will get the fruit.
Many things could happen:

1. Some bad guy could just decide to take it even though Sabo won
2. Doflamingo could just decide NOT to give it away
3. Sabo could give the Devil Fruit to Luffy, who would then give it to someone else (ex: Rebecca)

And let's not forget that Oda is a master at surprising his readers!
I honestly don't think that things will go as we think they will...

If sabo wins the tournament, he gets the fruit. The tournament rules are such that sabo has to have the fruit and be the only one staanding to win the tournament. Its not a prize, its part of the the tournament, mera mera no mi.

I'm just curious, if Sabo and Rebecca are the final two contestants left in the arena in this final round, what would happen if Sabo gets his hands on the Mera Mera no Mi after stealing it from the fighting fish and then proceeds to walk out of the Colosseum (he got what he came for)?

Sabo would be disqualified obviously, but than who would be the winner? In this case Rebecca would be the last one standing in the arena, but would she be classified as the winner - as the rules Diamante stated required the victor to both be the last contestant standing and have the Mera Mera no Mi? I suppose even if not, she would remain undefeated =/.

My Theory is, Luffy will eat the Mera Mera No Mi, because the Mera Mera No Mi is not in the box in the Colliseum. He will accidentally eat it because he may be hungry after a fight. PROOF:: Upon Shirley the Fortune Teller in the Fishman Island, Luffy was ON FIRE and for some reason at the same arc Luffy unleashed his new technique " Red Hawk " with Ace's image appearing on that moment! I think it was already a PREMONITION by ODA!

my bad, but still he was with fire, maybe he will destroy it by fire with Mera Mera No Mi, the reason why ODA made Luffy asleep during the time when Jinbei telling the Fishmand Island/Otohime's History is because its too early to make Luffy angry in that arc. It was not yet the time for that so Luffy was asleep. Like what happened to Nami, he destroyed Nami's room in Arlong Park because it was Nami's prison. got my point?

Fishman Island is like a prison to Fishmen because of racism between them and human. ---- Nami's Room was a prison for her where she was force to draw maps.
both were destroyed or will be destroyed by Luffy, ----- so Luffy being asleep is to delay the destruction of Fishmand Island. ------- Did you notice in every arc Luffy always freeing people from bad people/villain.

Also gotta look at the drawbacks. Buggy didn't even want to eat the devil fruit, even though he's nearly invincible. Same could happen with mera mera no mi, it could be sold for a high price.

Ooh. I got your point. But do you really think that island is hated by the fishmen? Its fishmen island, home to fishpeople. The auctioning centre is more likely to be the place of racism and luffy will probably destroy that someday.
