I love how UJ increased, in comparison, WSJ decreased by 30,000 units. Most impressive is WYJ that only reduce from a few hundred units and I guess Sunday GX is a magazine with a fixed circulation or something. Never paid attention the circulation below 20,000. Pretty nice when you see the series in there can sell 200,000 in their first week when volumes come out (Jormungand pretty much did at one point).

Wow look at how high Aria went from 13K to 59K. I guess both K and Attack on Titan are to blame for that huge increase!

Only Titans, not K.

Digital grow goes hand to hand with the fall of physical format. The numbers have been depressing for some months now.

While I don't disagree with what you're saying, even though I don't agree either, there is no connection between the data we have from digital and the traditional. Digital growth is showed by Square Enix, while the traditional numbers are showed by a group of companies where Square Enix doesn't make part of. It could very well be happening that Square Enix Traditional Magazines numbers are growing up in number or that not only the traditional format is going down but also the digital for the magazines which date was showed. Is possible that the reason the traditional Magazines are decreasing in terms of print has nothing to do with digital but with other kinds of media or other totally different reasons.

There is no where on this chart that says if it includes or doesnt include copies of digital issues of these other magazines.

More reason to not assume it! If you don't know if it includes than by default it doesn't.

Digital grow goes hand to hand with the fall of physical format. The numbers have been depressing for some months now.
Declining magazine sales are a long term trend, going back to the late 90's. The format went into decline before any digital platforms became available. Digital manga platforms largely have been a response to declining magazine sales. The Japanese publishing industry has been hesitant to transition to even a partial digital platform. I'm a little out of the loop, but when last I checked online availability of new chapters was limited, or nonexistent. I do not know of any physical magazines that are reproduced digitally. If new issues of Jump, Shounen Sunday, Shounen Magazine, etc. are available in their entirety online it is a new development, and not something that could replace physical sales any time soon. The online magazines I am most familiar with are purely digital platforms, with their own serializations, like Gangan Online. Manga is widely available by the volume for Kindle, but not magazines. Tankobon sales are as strong as ever, eReaders and tablets have not had any effect on that market. Manga magazines have developed a hallowed place among international fandom. Native Japanese fans do not hold magazines in such high esteem. Most fans in Japan read manga by the volume, not as chapters are serialized. That is why there are so many bestsellers from low circulation magazines (Shingeki, St. Young Men, etc.). Only a very limited percentage of manga fans find new manga by reading the magazines.

It doesn't include digital. Online readers are measured by unique page views, not circulation numbers. They are two separate statistics. Professional statistical services would never blend the two. Most physical magazines don't even have digital versions.

A few of the manga magazines on that chart do have digital versions though. http://www.ebookjapan.jp/ebj/tag_genre.asp?genreid=30411
Some do, some don't. All the more reason Oricon would not blend digital statistics with physical circulation. Mixing page views with magazine circulation would be statistical voodoo. That would be horrible math. A professional service would never do something like that.

That is not true. If you do not know if something is included, assume data deficiency, and that the statistic is not wholly reliable. Never make assumptions based on lack of access to data. The proper answer is that you do not know. The information is probably available in the source, which we do not have access to. The truth is that we can assume based on the fact online readers and physical magazine sales are measured by different statistics. They are measured differently and therefore can not be combined statistically. Not all manga magazines are reproduced online, so the list would mix different magazine being measured by different criteria. This also is unacceptable. Adding physical magazine circulation to online reader views is statistically impossible.

I'm always amazed by these... Just what runs in Big Comic Original or Ciao? Both of those have higher circulation than stuff like Young Jump, Young Magazine and Shounen Sunday? And I barely ever hear about any of the series in Gekkan Shounen Sunday and that does even better. But the magazines with Kimi ni Todoke and Shingeki no Kyojin have such a small circulation in comparison... And there's a good bunch I've never heard of at all.

Shounen Champion seems to be in there twice with different numbers. And Haruta's not there despite getting all that praise from critics this year with Sakamoto Desu Ga and all.
