(It was missing from his/her introduction in the anime. IMO it's a shame since - aside from Pitou's eyes, it's what really distinguished the character, as well as added to a charismatic appeal of him.)

You really should! it's amazing
I'd also recommend the anime first except for the first few chapters.. The anime skips some scenes which will be important later on so I totally recommend reading those and then going staight for the anime since it makes it so much better! Have a fun time

1999 anime - manga - 2011 anime

Manga > Anime ( If you want to try the anime, then 2011 >1999)
This aplies to almost any series. I prefer sticking with the original than trying an adaptation.

I actually prefer anime over manga.. It's way more entertaining to watch animated and voice acted scenes than just reading it black and white..
I'm not hating on manga, believe me but I really think anime is better experience IF it doesn't do any changes to the original source material.
Sometimes I don't even understand bits of the manga and the anime explains it to me better and I get a better understanding of characters.

This is all just merely my opinion of course
