awesome for naruto. it's good to see it end on a high note as it has always been. seeing all these discussions about series endings i think kishi did an awesome job maintaining somewhat a constant quality and popularity (TOC position and sales) for all these years. and it's nice to see volume 71 back on the charts and crossing the 1M mark

iShoujo+ in the ranking, it makes me extremely happy, is a victory won, even with low numbers. I'm hoping that its sales to grow even more.

As for the Hinomaru Zumou... I hope, really, it reaches 60k in the first week until its volume 5, their low sales do not match the high quality manga that is.

Hinomaru seems to be at a significantly lower pace than World Trigger was in sales.

20. Hinomaru Zumou #3 (27,002)
18. World Trigger #3 (50,838)

Boku no Hero Academia is in 50th here, bad luck this time. Nanatsu no Taizai is messing up with BnHA appearances, curse it. :(

How long it usually takes for an "anime boost"?

The thing with Hinomaru's sales probably has to do more with the mentality of Japanese buyers than with the manga's quality
I mean, for example, I love reading Hinomaru and I think it's a great manga, but I would never buy it
And probably, the people who could buy this have a similar thing ocurring to them as if they were buying a super ecchi manga like say TLRD, I mean, I think most Japanese would be embarrassed of buying a manga with half-naked fat guys in the cover regardless of how much of a revered sport sumo is (mostly for the people in Shounen Jump's demography)
And if sales were everything that matters for Jump to cancel or not a young series, Kuroko would've never lasted while Koisome Momiji, Soul Catcher(S), and Ane Log would have lasted for years in the magazine

And @ElJin, bear in mind iShoujo+'s sales don't include the sales of the digital full-colored version (which probably are the main reason the series is still ongoing, not that I mind that, iShoujo moving to Jump+ is the best thing that could happen to it)

Yeah, it was one of the reason given by an article in a brazilian blog about Hinomaru Zumou low sales, I even shared the link here because someone asked. This and the fact that sumo is seen as a sport for old people there in Japan (not my words, the blog words). I also have the feeling that it is the most likely reason.
TLRD was not a good comparison though, it sells well, but I think it is because the cover art is comported. :lmao
I would think twice before buying a series with ecchi in the cover, indeed.

For young series, sales doesn't matter much, indeed.

But, following that thought, then the chances of HZ have some commercial success (which is what matters for a magazine like Jump), are almost zero. The only "salvation" would be an anime.

How the series does in the magazine also matter a lot. Look at Isobe and Psi Kusuo Saiki(or even Kochikame). They all sell little in volumes, but are doing well in the magazine, with Isobe even getting a fixed place right now.

In reality the value of volume sales in cancelation is arguable, because there is no case of a series doing well in the magazine, but bad in the volumes sales that was cancelled; nor exists a case where a series was doing bad in the magazine, good in the sales, and didn't had a big story and reputation in the magazine already.

I believe that while the title does well in the magazine, that prints 1.6 Million copies per week(6.4 Million copies per month), it will stay.

That series that everybody hates and wants to see finished stayed in 2nd place and its limited edition sold more than Hinomaru Zumou. What a surprise, I didn't expect that. :derp

With this, it is 227.190 copies sold and more arriving. Haters gonna hate.
Is this supposed to prove anything ?? It's still bad.

One similar case, a series that described an old sport, was Hikaru no Go. I heard it was also considered a old sports with not so much popularity among young people. The series increased the popularity of the sport.

Proves that the actual fans of the series, who spend their money in it, kinda disagree with the haters. The opinion of the haters doesn't matter anyway, they don't keep the series alive anyway.

Yeah, but this is the expected of a gag series. I don't think HZ will be canceled, but Im basing myself on the theory that the manga doesn't sell well because of a cultural issue.

HnG also took a while to be popular and sell well?

Why are you so aggressive ? Yeah I don't like the manga that doesn't mean I want it to fail nor get canceled . I simply don't like it. This whole haters talk is really childish honestly.

You not liking something doesn't turn it into a
series though. If you are gonna come from that direction you should be able to expect and accept resistance. And yeah Leoat, we get your point, you like the series, yet you don't have to attack/quote-reply to everyone thinking otherwise. Repetition of arguments with fixed stances is ineffectual for discussions.

Personally I think it's bad to see nearly no development. Non-gag(not non-comedy) manga that began with a real story and lead one to believe that it would follow that it to a conclusion shouldn't take up precious room for potential other series though. :P

The manga has many flaws which make it ''bad'' well to me at least .Other people may like it or not I, but I simply voiced my opinion. I just know that there is no point in trying to discuss it because any reasonable point I come up with will simply be ignored.

Edit: My opinion on the series is very similar to yours ,plus a point or two.

Not be everyone, just don't expect people with Ava/Sigs from the series to see much reason to cancel the series.

Reasons why having bulky character designs is not good.

Though based on how only spines of books show on bookshelves, I wonder if that is really a huge aspect on why readers wouldn't buy it.

I don't know, but it is unlikely. Hikaru no Go was big success, a success that doesn't seem like a late bloom. :hmm

I'm keeping the tone of the conversation. I simply made a joke because of the recent hate the series received here, and you called the series bad out nowhere. I'm glad that we clarified the things: the series is not bad, you don't like it, it is different.

---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 PM ----------

I already invited people to discuss it in the right place many times, but nobody came. I already said here many times the reason why Nisekoi is the way it is and so forth. I don't believe that people get my point, otherwise this kind of comment wouldn't have been posted. I don't see this pursuit with other series, I can't even commemorate good sales or comments rankings to the subject be brought up. I can give reason of existence for more than 90% of Nisekoi chapters. Only some chapters can be considered zero development and what people say that there aren't many arcs with the so-called plot is wrong, it has a reasonable amount of arcs with plot, it has one intercalated with some single chapters. I didn't want to do it because it would take a good amount of my precious time, but I'll have to map the series. Maybe with a drawing you guys will believe.

It is tiresome, really... From now on, I'm going to make my comments and ignore the rest, only this way I will be able to enjoy the thread.
