Viz's Weekly Shonen Jump came out early. I read Black Clover's first chapter and it was great, IMO. I definitely liked it much more than Kagamigami's first chapter. I now find myself really looking forward to it's second chapter. I'm rooting for it (for now) out of this new batch, I hope it survives.

Eh first chapter of Black Clover was okay but it felt a bit generic. The whole protagonist starting off talentless thing and best friend/rival character feels really similar to My Hero Academia and I feel like we really don't need two of that kind of thing in the mag. Hopefully it can differentiate itself more aside from it's premise but for now I'm rooting more for Kagamigami since that's more likely to go somewhere.

On that note this week's author comments mentioned Tabata used to be one of Iwashiro's assistants. Hopefully he doesn't get upstaged again...

Black Clover MC is Naruto(my magic is never giver giving up... really? he really had to say it) with one static expression like the World Trigger MC. Why is he always shouting? Why do they need to be orphans? (ugh... their parents must be uberpowerful magicians).
The beautiful and very talented rival that everyone loves. At least, he's not an asshole with the MC like beginning Sasuke, and already accept their friendship and rivalry.
Despite the good art, i find it very weak.

Kind of light but it looks like it's not going to exactly be case-of-the-weekish

Black Clover is easily my pick for best of the group. The first chapter was mighty strong. The duo is instantly lovable with the cool yet really friendly, trusty, hot and secretly concerned Yuno and the determined Asta. I love how high their friendship level is and look forward to more in the quest to become the magic king. This is an example of how you do a first chapter well.

Ok we get it...SharkBait speaks about his favorite series in ridiculous hyperbole. It's almost as annoying to read as people who feel the need to make jokes about it....repeatedly.

Regardless, not excited for Clover (never liked Tabata)...Joker had like two or three "cool" looking pages but was fairly boring imo. Disappointed by the comments about Iwashiro's new series. I'll check it out eventually.

Loved, loved Black Clover. Think it could be the next great battle shonen. I am enamored with Yuuki's Art and style. Definitely the better of the two serializations. I liked Kagamigami but it just didn't pop. It doesn't have a hook yet. Especially with the pretty lame second case that didn't build on the world.

Yes which suggests its on the right path. It may ot be a wholly unique series but it is certainly covering all the bases for a good series.

Both Black Clover and Kagamigami have been bland and uniteresting imo.

Don't waste your time, it is this way every bunch of new series.
If every series he says that will make success made, Jump would be a library, not a magazine. He is not realist, even less impartial in his opinions.
