After reading some of Black Clover I think its something that appeals to certain groups very well. Call it nostalgia for resembling Naruto or whatever but I think it CAN stay, if it satisfies that niche audience. Its only been a few chapters though so who knows.

Do we know the genders of any of the new mangaka? I know Cyborg Roggy's is female, and Psyren's is male.

Is that so? So we have a partern here.
Success with Ohba > Failture with newbie > Success with Ohba
Obata will realize that he cannot do anything without Ohba. :fan
According to the legend, Obata made a pact with the King of Editors (the same guy who forced the authors of battle shonen to make their protagonists wish to be "kings of something" in the 90's / the same guy who forced Kurumada's protagonists to have only one face). So, the pact implies that the success of the partnership with Ohba depends on the previous Obata failure. In other words: no flop, no hit.

Only thing I was consistently enjoying about Gakkyuu was its art. All cards are on the table for it, it can wrap everything up quite easily. I can definitely see two series surviving from this round now.

I dont think people should really count it out. It could always rise soon since the recent chapters have really taken things to new heights.

Can anyone name manga that ended up dead last in the magazine in under 15 chapters and ended up lasting over 2 years, beside manga which were obvious exceptions?

Gakkyuu Hottei's cases have been pretty weak so far. Honestly, if the rival doesn't help the series to rise in the rankings, I think it will be a strong candidate to get axed in the next cancellation round. Also, it seems like Hinomaru's ranking last week might've been a one time thing, but only time will tell. It could also go the "roller-coaster" route and have random rankings each week.

I believe Kuroko no Basket hit rock bottom once when it was just beginning.

You go ahead and name a series that ranked dead last within its first 20 chapters and still managed to recover and become a hit.

Sket Dance was last place up until chapter 10 and has risen from it's ashes to middle-bottom an middle gradually. That's the only manga that has done so.

Since history always repeats itself, I believe we do have strong evidence that strongly suggests and highly implies that Gakkyu Hotei is in it to win it and should be reaching its first anniversary.

History does repeat itself, so if once every 25 years a series manages to rise from the last place, another case like Sket dance would happen in 10 more years at best. There is a very hard evidence that would highly imply that GH's survival rates up to it's first anniversary are minimal right now,and it's the cold fact that it placed under a series that hit rock bottom since the beginning which is Ageha. This highly implies that the fans of the series no longer feel the WOW effect of having Obata as an artist and now the series has flunked once it needs it's story to get support.

It's more probable that 3 series from the new batch survive in the magazine, and that could end up being a very nice treat.

I really enjoyed Ultra Battle Satellite after it got into gear. The first 15 or so pages felt a bit bland, but I really dig the concept for the setting, and I like that the tone is darker and more violent. After they found the "noob hunter" I got really into it, and the action was both well choreographed and interesting.

Roggy still seems a bit lacking in the wow factor. The fight scenes really need to be more than Roggy delivering a single cool-looking attack in a two-panel spread. As much as I like the art and setting, the author really needs to put a bit more emphasis on the battles and maybe tone down on the gags a bit.

Black Clover is moving in a more interesting direction with the protagonist winding up in a rowdy squad, but again it's not a particularily original idea. It kind of feels like it might be transitioning into more of a squad-based story a la Seraph of the End or D.Gray-man, which is... I don't know. We'll see.

So far, I'd rank it as UBS > Roggy > Kagamigami >= Black Clover.

Have you stopped to think that the way you talks is the reason that nobody takes you seriously?
We don't have any "strong evidence" and anything "highly implies" anything.
What happened with Sket Dance doesn't have any relation to what is happening now.
1) The series are different.
2) The authors are different.
3) The public is different.
4) The circumstances in the magazine are different.

Evertyhing is different. So this discussion is pointless. The only thing you can do is to root for its recovery. Note that it is completely different from saying "it is just temporary and X thing strongly suggests that it will be more successul the any other series in the unverse.".
Accept the facts: stay in dead last is very bad and the series has a high chance of cancellation. I'm sure you saw it happening here many times.

UBS was interesting concept on the emphasis on fighting dirty and the artstyles fit. I'm a sucker for fighting series, I love All Rounder Meguru and Hajime no Ippo, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Any predictions on what's gonna succeed and what isn't?

Black Clover and Kagamigami will thrive. Just a really impressive serialization round....

Japan's taste is hard to predict and all of them are decent enough to have a chance at survival so it's a tough call. Personally I hope Kagamigami does since an Iwashiro series is actually likely to go somewhere in terms of story but that's just me. Also honestly hoping Black Clover gets the boot, I don't have too much against generic stuff (I'm mostly okay with Fairy Tail) but it really feels like it's just soulessly filling out a checklist of obligatory battle shonen tropes and the other series ,even Roggy which I'm kinda meh on at least feel somewhat creative in comparison.

We currently dont have Gakkyu Hotei staying in dead last (this is its first dead last ranking afterall), Jump also gave it a CP so they had some vested interest in its particular success, moreso than the others. So I think your statement would be better suited if someone was championing The Table Tennis Which Ageha Plays. The plot of Gakkyu Hotei is the evidence which is allowing us to believe that there is a chance for Gakkyu Hotei to rise back up. I dont know why one would automatically jump to the worst case scenario upon a series dipping low, isnt that the opinion that would more properly be the one to not be taken seriously?

My last post was my last effort... Really, every round is the same thing, he never learns.

Anyway.... Noboyd posted it here IIRC
Beelzebub: Bangai-hen Spinoff Manga Ends in March

Finally Tamura can focus on its next series.
