Manga artist, age 46, is claimed to be old and about to retire in a country with average life expectancy of 84,6.

More at 11 in the Mangahelpers WSJ ToC thread.
Yes, because obviously i meant he's so old he has to retire...

No. He's old enough and worked long enough that retirement should be a legitimate thought for him, especially if he keeps making stuff like GH. If he makes more flops, he'll probably retire. That's besides the point that drawing manga weekly is incredibly physically taxing, and while Kochikame's author might be pulling it off, there are almost no guys over 50 still drawing manga.

Again, I didn't say he's about to retire, I said that retiring is an option for him. And I didnt say he's old, I said he's "getting a bit old".

I get that you're really working to get some funny in your post, but dont twist my words and mock them as illogical when you entirely miss the point.

Three years and Haikyuu has been better than ever, surely it's not a sports manga that you see everyday... I hope it is released here (Brazil) after Kuroko no Basket success. Haikyuu is better than it, but it served to open the door.

I don't read Owari no Seraph (maybe I'll watch the anime) buuuut why the mansplaining? If Ashuramaru is cute, then they are cute enough to be in a signature. Just look at Nagisa from AssClass. He's a guy, but male fans find him cute anyway and Matsui likes drawing him in girls clothes. At the end of the day these are just fictional characters. :V Its not like you're in a bar looking for a date and have to think about who Ashuramaru really is or something. :neutral
I'm sorry. This is my fault, and I have no excuse for it. You're absolutely right...if someone or thing is cute then who cares about gender? Adam Blade had it right. Still for my sanity, I'm avoiding any wiki'ing until I read the series myself.

For me, it is a huge difference... I don't like traps since my first contact with it, which was Haku in Naruto.
Fortunately, I found this awesome crossover between Shiona and Maka to put in my sig and avatar is not a problem.

The manga hasn't yet been released there? The brazilian volleyball team is one of the best in the world.

Sports manga is not popular here, no matter the sport. We don't have every soccer manga here, rather, we have one right now after years and it doesn't sell that well as far as I know. Brazil can be the best in volleyball, but it doesn't mean that it is as popular. People cares more about soccer, volleyball is almost forgotten.

I saw your post as hyperbole so I replied with another.

There are plenty of artists over 50 who were, are and will be drawing. Especially those of them who see art as a passion, and not just a job. Weekly is not the only manga format out there. There are plenty of ways for serialization, and infinite numbers of them for an artist of Ohbata's caliber.

You also have to consider the working ethics in Japanese society. Togashi Yoshihiro is not the rule, he is an exception.

Also, it's hard to comprehend being a mangaka. I have as much respect as I possibly can for him. Togashi is another subject entirely, but I'll say if he doesn't feel he can continue, I wish he would plot and write so the story can conclude as an anime at least.

Anyways, I decided to order Drea.mer from Amazon Japan, I just had to have it in three days. Now the wait for Rion san next month and Wakaki's new series.

AC since the beginning of the anime got a boost, just wasn't visible by Oricon Top 50, but it was there. Now it finally was able to get 5 volumes(plus the character book) in the top 50!

Also to note that Haikyuu!! volume 15 right now has around 108,722(DVD Bundle) + 541,968 = 650,690 copies sold

So whats the expected number for BnH volume 3? We got tons of CPs and a VOMIC in between Volume 2 and 3, so it should be above 200k am I correct?

What do you mean, yesterday it was said at 3vols BnH is at 1mln, so tracking back, >200K is definite.

Guess its stayed at the same level each volume thus far
300000 |1vol | 12/14/2014
600000 |2vol | 12/26/2014
1000000 |3vol | 3/17/2015

That is just the print number! I believe xAsum0x is talking of sales, that isn't the same thing.

Without a doubt. I wouldn't be surprised if it sold 250k.

I hope that this time Shokugeki no Soma surpasses the 300k in 3 weeks milestone. It is stagnated around 270k since volume 5.
