I dunno if it was complacency or something else but it was shocking today. If we're losing at HOME to West Ham, god help us...

Mertersacker is not quick or agile enough for the requirements of the EPL. He gets beat too easily for my liking.

I wouldn't disagree with you, but for me CB+ CF would be the more urgent positions.

Well West Ham aren't shit, they're quite decent, solid defending and played using their strong points (+ Payet doing a good job)
Coquelin is great at defending, extremely shit at passing let's be honest... But anyway, there's a lack of great DM at this point so meh

CB+CF are a must yes, I'll make a prediction, as long as Mertesacker/Giroud aren't on the bench, you guys will win shit... Wenger should go for Abdennour from Monaco for the CB position (can play LB too), he's extremely powerful and fast, he likes physical clashes and yet has enough technic for possession play. His only problem is tactical awareness

Ozil wasn't the only one, the whole team was at fault here, but yeah Ozil/Mertesacker/Cech/Giroud were pure shit

I saw most of the second half, and I have to agree; Shelvey really stood out for me. Every time they made their way forward he was always in the mix, and like you said made some clinical passes.

It wouldn't even be goal of the week or of the day for me. This kind of goals is just pure luck. Nothing more. If I see a ball behind me, I would attempt the same and I have the equal change of succeeding. Never understood why people are impressed by what's in the end a lucky goal. There is no special construction, no special control, no dribble, no precision ... just luck

Playing Cesc next to Matic was a stupid mistake, left too many spaces for Silva to do whatever he wanted

Ivanovic + Cahill were complete liabilities, I don't get it, why sub Terry and leave Cahill, makes zero sense to me. Defense should be Terry + Zouma IMO

Hazard can't do everything, Costa was busy shit talking and looking for fouls instead of goals like Aguero... Only Willian was trying but it's easy to seal his movements if he's all alone

Chelsea still needs a striker + DM with Matic, Cesc is bad at that no matter how you put it

Good thing Baba Rahman was signed, I think Ivanovic needs some competition to get better, although Rahman will play at the left, which means Azpi may switch to the right

Pellegrini did a good job overall, special mention for Aguero/Silva/Touré and Sterling despite not scoring any goal

They're not as attractive a prospect as they were during Ferguson's time; when they could possibly get any player. That and the market for world class strikers is thin...The best of which already being to the top clubs, and the good ones would take a while to confirm their talents and Man Utd need someone who can come in and already get them 20-25+ goals a season.
