I loved to see the submissions! Great work, everyone!

Violet is the color I would go for myself, actually, but I would make mine darker than any of your works, that's interesting, no one went with a really dark tone and that caught me by surprise actually. Seeing how you guys got to the conclusion on how to use the colors, or use just black and white as Utsune did is awesome.

A bit of an explanation, the coloring was done mostly on SAI and Photoshop, but the background is hand made. I used acrylics along with modeling paste to get that swirly effect.I thought it would be interesting to mix both, but my intention was originally to redraw everything by hand then color it again to get a traditional painting.But that would take tremendously longer to do, plus I'm not sure if nana would be ok with me using her piece like that.

but yes, it probably would take a long time. I'm slow at digital painting, I can't imagine how long I would take for something like this to do by hand.
Also, I find difficult to paint pieces with big contrast and dark colors with traditional material (and that was my intention for this one), I'm used to add light later in photoshop, so I still can't balance light and shadows in paper properly.

I still have the background so I can still use it to make a painting , but the problem is the transparency.Some acrylic colors don't have much coverage especially the lighter ones, so any color underneath it will show.

I've never used acrylic, I didn't know that, that's tricky.
I'll have my computer working next week, I think, then I'll be able to color it

Acrylics are cool, but you have to look out for the coverage. It also depends on the brands.The cheaper ones aren't good :/

It's a hard decision.... Because all three are very good. You guys are really talented in art.

I hardly come to this section but I hope that my humble comments would encourage you guys to continue showcasing your artwork with the skills and talents you are gifted with.

Thank you for sharing them in here with me (us). I have enjoyed admiring them a lot. I can't draw, but the least I can do is to leave a small note for you.



Utsune's piece is very original but yet artistic. The use of basic black and white, and grey did not make the picture looks dull, but instead it helps to highlight the main character, the fairy lady. She is also the centre of attraction and the colour brings out her beauty, and gives me the feeling that she is a real fairy who descends from fairy world. She looks so beautiful!

The 2nd one from lola - It has a nice combination of colours and all matches with each other. The sparkles of dots look like they are dancing around the fairy. It also feels like it's winter time which suits the current season. It's as if I could hear the ringing of bells during Christmas time. Oh... there is one more thing that attracts me - it's her fingers, which looks so refined and well coloured. A great piece of art work.

The 3rd piece, Charlie's - It uses a simple tone for the whole piece of art - not complicated nor confused - it is as if to show that the fairy is a pure and innocent being. The fire burning out of her hand is beautiful and a great choice of colour. It seems to show her strength, which lies within her fingers. Let's see what the fairy is capable of. Nice work!


By the way, I didn't see Holt's work... why didn't participate?

Haha I'm flattered . I was indeed going to participate but in the end it didn't work out. Had a few issues and didn't get the chance to attempt. Whether it would have been something to look forward to is something else entirely though. I'm really just a novice

Firstly wow this is going to be a very tough contest to vote....
so regarding my entry.....

I figured originally I would have a chance to pull my last minute entry solo victory on this one. *cough cough*
So I came to see the contest after riki chan reminded me of it. My hopes disappeared into the moonlight no puns intended. *Hoot hoot hoot*.

Good luck guys, and riki nice touch with the crescent moon warping feature.
Also Ustune totally stole my idea of using an acrostic poem style (even though you posted first ) .
