What you guys thing about what ForneverWorld said about Bleach and the other series in Jump?
He doesn't know how the ranking work, so does his subscribers.

He only judge it by one chapter, but in reality Bleach has been in the bottom of the ranking for the longest time .

edit : i will delete this if I break any rules. Sorry

I just read the first few chapters of Hinomaru Zumou and it was good. Which bring up a question:

"How do the readers judge a sport series, if every sport series start out the same ?" Beside fujoshi, what make a certain sport series popular . MC falls under 3 types of sport MC

1/ a hardworking person
2/ underdog with hidden talent/potential
3/ a genius

and a rival introduce early on, after that they enter a tournament against the top school and usually lose at that tournament. Some example:

1/ Hinomaru Zumou: the MC falls under the hardworking person and an underdog
You are a bit wrong here :D He is some kind of genius and he was once in the past but even If he is genius he lacks in case of body size and body size in Sumo is very important.

fixed
Main reason might be that Hinomaru Zumou does not have Fujoshi fans who would push this title with Doujinshis. Jump ranking is still good, it just doesn't sell well. Too bad viz picked up the Fujoshi titles Kuroko and HQ instead of a really manly sport manga.
Even though the scan group doesn't prioritize Hinomaru and we only get erratic releases, I just have to read two pages and I m fully immersed in it although I m not interested in Sumo sport at all. The author has a great panel layout and knows how to lead the reader.
It is not that we prioritize Boku no Hero Academia or other our series. Hinomaru Zumou is really full of hard redraws and we can not find enough redrawers.

2/ Prince of Tennis: Echizen Ryouma is a genius type.
3/ Eyeshield21 : Sena is an underdog with a lightning speed . Lose on his first tournament.
4/ Kuroko no Basuke : Kuroko is a genius underdog type.
5/ Haikyuu: Hinata is an underdog type with a hidden talent.
6/ Captain Tsubasa : a genius hardworking type .
7/ Kurogane : an underdog with a hidden talent . Lost on his first tournament .
I mean...you could apply this format, almost verbatim, across any genre especially in Jump. So you can probably answer your own question: how do you decide if an action manga or slice of life is more interesting than the hundreds of others just like it? Sports manga don't inherently follow the same formula any more than another randomly selected genre. In sports manga, they will try to win the tournament. In action manga, they will try to beat the bad guy. In romance manga, they will try to hook up. I would say only comedy and horror can be exempt from broad strokes really.

Too bad? HQ!! is f*cking great! Zumou is cool too, but I think the first two volumes are poor when it comes to immersion. Fortunately it gets better after that.

Yuma(world trigger) is the most popular name of baby born in the 2015. I think WT is getting very successfull.
No Usopp? C'mon, japanese people!! I'm sure your kids will be very grateful when they grow up.

What a poor statement. Treating Haikyuu as a "fujoshi manga" and trying to put down just because lot of girls read the manga? What is not "manly" in Haikyuu? because they're playing volei? because they're not staring each other every moment as if they would gonna kill someone? or because the manga isn't trying to portray volei as the pinnacle of the serious and tense sport? even Haikyuu being super intense.

You talk like if Hinomaru Zumou isn't trying appealing for fujoshi, when Kawada created characters like Sada, Kei and Kirito, fujoshi pandering, Kirito even had a "hot" color page literally screaming "fujoshi", Sada is Kise, and Kei is the fragile boy with delicate face. Not even to mention the crossover with Kuroko no Basket just to grab the attention of Kuroko fans..

Dude just accept it... It IS a fujoshi manga. The majority of the fandom are people that feels that way. And there's nothing wrong about it. I do love Haikyuu though.(but because I almost became a professional volleyball player myself)

The same hapenned with Kuroko and nobody even flinched. So what's the point?

And yeah, Hinomaru ISN'T appealing for fujoshis. I'm sorry to say that but, the majority of girls (probably only japanese girls) will like to see fat guys (no offensive treatment intended) with large underwear showing off.

It is a national sensation and pride but for Japan ONLY.

It won't be appealing anywhere else.

Yo G_I_A, I'm not saying that isn't a manga loved by fujoshi, i'm commenting about treating Haikyuu less than Hinomaru Zumou and using "fujoshi manga" as a pejorative term to make a poor statement that one manga is more "manly" than other when HZ has plenty of fujoshi fanservice even not being able to make the girls fall in love with the manga like Haikyuu and Kuroko.

Its weird really. Every time I see something like this, I start to want to read WT, but then someone here talks about how crappy it is and like magic that interest in reading it disappears. Which is it? Crappy or Good?
Could always just read it and find out. I like it, even if I can literally remember like five characters' names.

With the shitton of things I have half done or on the list to read, I'd rather not add one more thing if I can avoid it. It sounds interesting, but what people say about it fluctuates. I read chapter one like a million years ago and barely remember it, but I don't think I disliked it at any rate.

Please stop that. I didn't say HQ or Kuroko is bad. If you look through this thread I mentioned more than once that I like HQ. I just said it is not a manly manga and WSJ is supposed to be a Shonen mag. If Hinomaru would get Fujioshi support I would be glad because it is a sign of succeess. Please do not offend my person.

I'd say, it is slow but good. Some would argue that slow = crappy. xD
Like we are over 120+ chapters and...nah, read that for yourself to find out.^^
I forgot who said it here but somebody wrote that WT reads like a Seinen made for a Shounen magazine and I think that fits it pretty well. Just read the first 20 or 30 or 40 chapters and if you can't get into it, just drop it. :)

i dropped it after reading the first 60 chapters because imo it's boring

i can't get over the fact that this a battle manga where nobody dies & nobody get injured, you know why? because they're fighting in "fake bodies" not their actual bodies. (how convenient)

& i can't get over that the mangaka keep introducing new characters, there's like a million side characters & i don't know why should we care about any of them & all of them are bland & forgettable as hell.

also, am i the only one who have seen the name Yuma in manga/anime even before WT started?

isn't that the cause with almost all kiddy & mainstream shounen manga though?

not to this extent with numbers
not to this extent with the blandness

& even if all of battle shonen are doing it like WT, just because everybody else is doing it doesn't make it right
