Some mages in Fairy Tail are ranked by some of you at Spriggan tier. So I was wondering who do you think can take which Spriggan down.

So this are the Fairy Tail mages who are mostly ranked at Spriggan tier:

Laxus
Natsu
Gildarts
Erza
Mirajane
Gajeel
Gray

And this are the Spriggans we've seen fighting so far:

God Serena
Ajeel
Wahl
Brandish
Dimaria
Jacob
Neinhart
Bradman
Irene

-------------------------------------------------

Further rules:

- Hax magic is included.

- Natsu may go FDKM, DF, FLDM or whatever form he ever used.

- Gray may use his DeS form.

- Gajeel may use ISDM.

- Laxus may use Red Lightning.

- No PoF.

I will edit this thread once new Spriggans are shown.

    My Take

    Laxus > Ajeel, Wahl(Right)

    Natsu > Ajeel, Wahl(Right)

Gildarts < Ajeel, Wahl, Jacob(I don't consider gildarts to be Spriggan Tier)

Mirajane < Ajeel, Jacob(It is too early Without Macro she is no Spriggan Tier.Fake Wahl had dismissed Macro as Nothing. So we will have to see if Macro can control a Spriggan)

    Gajeel >
None(Featless May be with DF if he has that)

Gray < Ajeel, Jacob(gray hasn't shown anything to be considered a Spriggan Tier.Infact Ajeel has shown better than gray in that Combat in Alvarez Empire. He may not be a Spriggan Tier)

I think Gray could take Ajeel down since I rank him stronger than Erza. Plus, his magic is super effective against his because he can freeze most of his spells. Gray's Ice Devil Slayer Spells are really powerful, they surpass Ajeel's spells. Based on magic power, I'd say Ajeel is slightly stronger. But Gray has far better intelligence, which would really help him against an opponent as Ajeel. I'd say he can defeat him with extreme high diff.

Mira can defeat Ajeel with Satan/Sitri Soul (high to extreme high diff) and Jacob with Seilah Soul (mid diff).
Sitri is featless and Seliah was was done in by a punch. Also Azir dried Gray's ice up already. Also Gray would need an attack as strong as Jupiter to take him out.

Azir>Gray. Azir power has a wider Radius and has already shown the ability to dry up Gray's Ice. Also Azir already shown to be able to break from Gray's Devil Slayer magic making it pretty useless against Azir. Freezing nor physically attacking him would work. Overall Azir is superior.

Azir>Mirajane: She has no feats suggesting she could take out Azir.

As far as a battle is Concerned the Spriggans would win low difficulty.

Only Laxus and Natsu are at that level the rest have no feats to suggest they can go head to head with a springgan

I agree with you for most of the Spriggans. But Ajeel and Jacob didn't show me any impressive feat that puts them above Mira and Gray. Even though Jacob's magic is pretty hax, I can see Mira and Gray take this. Gildarts can probably undo is camouflage since he can 'crush' spells.

I'd put Natsu, Laxus and Gildarts more or less equal. I'd say they could take down Ajeel, but are close to equal with Wahl.

It was a cheap shot. Laxus shouldn't have been able to beat Wahl.

Wahl's whole purpose in the arc was that he was immune to lightning, aka, out of all the FT characters, any one of them would have been suited better to fight Wahl than Laxus.

The fact that Laxus beat Wahl and Wahl was 100% immune to lightning...is just bs. Laxus my second favorite male FT character before, but after that stunt he just pulled...well, you can say he is beginning to get the Erza disease.

It's because he's Laxus.

Seriously, the 5 people in the series that hogs all the fame and glory are Natsu, Erza, Laxus, Zeref, and Jellal. Everybody else is left with the scraps.

It wasn't a chap shot. What manga are you reading?
Laxus' lightning was different from regular lighting and it reacted with Wahl's body destroying there was actual science behind it. It laughable, Laxus beat him in canon but yet you say he's weaker. This wasn't as bad as Erza's fight also.

I agree. If Wahl didn't have Resistance To Lightning then He would have been One Shotted.

Wow, you must be smart then. How is lightning different from lightning? Is it lightning or not? If you can't answer that, then why do you even act like you do? I've been down this road so many times, and nobody has given a logical explanation for why they believe these ideas. Before we get into the science aspect of it, I will acknowledge that this is manga and not real life. However, even if manga's defy real life science, they still can't ignore real life logic. Anyways, don't fall for these random and nonsense theories floating around on the Internet, if you look at them closely, you'll realize these people are there to make excuses.

Theory #1: Red Lightning exists as a Sprite. The fact here is that doesn't matter or not if the attack is a Sprite. Although you can call a Sprite "Red Lightning", it isn't the same as regular tropospheric lightning, the one that Laxus uses. Not to mention, lightning does damage through electricity and heat, something that a Sprite doesn't. Why? Because it is essentially cold plasma. Cold plasma, by the way, shouldn't affect a machine like the way it did on Wahl.

Theory #2: The attack that Laxus used was actually Mercury Fulminate, a chemical compound that is highly explosive if made contact with another object. This theory was pulled out of nowhere. Mercury Fulminate doesn't even remotely associate with lightning, let alone have anything to do with it. The fact that either Hiro Mashima or someone wrote that means nothing. Yes, I get that it was stated. But what was stated doesn't make sense. Unless you're telling me Laxus always keeps a stash of that powder in his pocket or something...? How ridiculous does that sound? That is like me saying that Warrod emits oxygen and absorbs carbon because he is a tree, so he would have been a better candidate for saving Gajeel in Torafusa's Black Water than Levy. Except, this has no real basis or proof, yet still makes a lot more sense than Laxus' attack. The point here is that canon means nothing. If it was poorly written, we have to face the facts. Therefore, was it a cheap shot? Yes.

Theory #3: Wahl actually does not have immunity or resistance to lightning. Now this is going too far. I bet if the question was asked before Laxus defeated Wahl, everyone would agree. The manga literally supports the fact that Wahl is not affected by lightning because he is a machina... Anybody who says otherwise needs to re-read the manga.

This doesn't tell me anything that I already know from the manga. It says that Mercury (II) Fulminate is used to ignite gunpowder. So it would make sense for Alzack/Bisca to possess such an attack rather than Laxus. Everything else doesn't correspond to logic. It says Red Lightning has unique properties. So what are they? Nobody knows... That seems legit, right...?
I Think It may be Mentioned in CR Version.May be @Stormsfury Can illumine on it.

Red Lightning - I don't really bother trying to figure out what Red Lightning is in a scientific sense. Mercury Fulminate is the MS translation, on CR (official translation) it is Raiko which, if my memory serves me, it means 'first child' in Japanese (I don't speak it).

RL can not be resisted like regular lightning, but it is still lightning, and I'd wager it's more powerful magically. If you can agree with that, and then combine it with the fact that lightning does extra damage to robots, it's not much different from a slayer advantage. If you don't think the machina weakness to lightning factors then RL destroyed Wahl with no extra damage, it was just too strong.

A simple explanation would have been nice from Mashima as it's very confusing. But people train and learn stuff, and it's not contradictory in a magical sense, just controversial. To a lesser degree the same thing happened with FDK Natsu.

For this thread: I'm doing it in VS format, and I'm going to make FT win!

Jacob's hax is a problem. Without Lucy there is no combating it, though I'd say there is a way. Perhaps Nakagami Erza can do something v spatial hax? Erza and MiraSayla take Jacob. If this battle is lost, then Jacob could solo with hax.

With RL, Laxus can defeat Wahl, he just has to use it. This time there is no sickness, he can finish Wahl and move on to help someone else.

Natsu can take out Ajeel. Has slayer senses to combat sandworld. Has offence to wreck Ajeel. Can see this one wrapping up about the same time it takes Laxus.

Gray v DiMaria - I was going to use Gildarts here because he would win this, but Gray I think can also take out DiMaria without Age Seal. He still needs to provide an offensive move post-skip, but I'll back him in here.

God Serena v Gildarts - I'll give Gildy the benefit of the doubt of being able to last more than Hyberion. His physicals are still relevant post-skip, and God Serena's offence is not on the level of Natsu's roar. I don't have Gildarts winning, but he'll be able to fight on until Laxus or Natsu show up, then as a duo/trio they will bring down Serena.

In terms of Magical Power (in their reserves), I have the Spriggans ahead of all characters except for Laxus. The fact of the matter is that Fairy Tail memebers recognized the Spriggans as having more MP than anyone else they knew. That's including each other. The exception to this was Laxus, single he arrived after that statement. The fact that he overpowered Ajeel so easily and beat Wahl makes me think that he's at least around the Spriggan-level in terms of mp.

Best Offensive Power goes to Natsu.
Even though Natsu probably has less magic in his tank than the Spriggans, his damage output is greater than most of the Spriggans. Fire Dragon King spells is pretty much the most destructive thing on the battlefield in terms of hand to hand combat. FDK mode also has the added benefit of burning up Natsu's opponents if they're just in close proximity.

Best AoE goes to Ajeel.
For having a city-scaled sand storm, his AoE is probably the largest in the series (rivalled only by Ikusa-Tsunagi's slash). He and Brandish might be tied, if we are to believe the claim that Brandish can just shrink Magnolia. However, Brandish has no feats.

Best Durability goes to Laxus.
He was able to tank most of assault Wahl's attacks whilst having a disease that made his organs fail. The reason he collapsed was due to that disease, and not due to damage by Wahl.

Best Utility goes to Dimaria.
The ability to stop time for herself is probably the hardest ability to counter. It provides Dimaria the ability for unlimited free hits against her opponents, however I don't believe it negates passive durability. For example, people who have taken swords or bladed weapons before can likely tank Dimaria's sword slashes. People who have taken attacks like Dimaria's beams can likely tank said beam. They would simply wake up to a bunch of wounds once Dimaria exhausted herself.

Dimaria's Age Seal Utility vs. Dimaria's Offensive Power

Dimaria essentially gets unlimited free hits against her opponents, but this doesn't change her offensive powers and her opponent's passive durability. Now, I can see Dimaria being able to take out someone like Laxus if she had them as her punching bag. However, I believe she would likely have to resort to all out attacks in her god soul form to pull it off. In short, she would pretty much need to exhaust herself to pull it off.
Just read that this is restricted. Completely changes things.

Gildarts

Tenrou Gildarts wouldn't stand a chance against the Spriggans, and current Gildarts hasn't even been introduced.

Gray and Gajeel

I haven't seen enough from them that would put them ahead of any of the Spriggans in any particular category. They can probably beat a Spriggan with assistance and teamwork, but 1v1 I have the Spriggans ahead of any of them.

Miajane

I would put her solidly below any of the Spriggans. Macro is probably the only thing that might give her a chance, however the Etherious gain their curse power from the magical barrier particles and Wahl can dispel those.

Look at the context. It's different to Laxus' regular lighting which reacted to Wahl's body. It was the mercury fulminate lighting attack which doesn't make sense but barely anything in this manga does. Yo know damn weel what I meant even if it doesn't make sense normally it does in FT lore, don't try and be a smartass. Just because it doesn't make sense irl doesn't make it a cheap shot, do you even know what a cheap shot is? At best it could be an ass pull, an asspull which is still a part of Laxus' arsenal so my point still stands, Laxus beat Wahl.

I did look at the context. Why are you contradicting yourself? You're claiming that Laxus' Red Lightning is different from his regular lightning while saying that it wasn't a cheap shot, yet you're saying that it could be? Just admit it. You clearly supported the feat. Don't go back on your words and say that you also thought it was a lame feat but apparently there was actual science behind it. Not to mention, you were persistent on the fact that it wasn't a cheap move and proceeded by asking whether someone read the manga or not. We wouldn't be here if we didn't. That is outright criticism right there.

I honestly can't care less about being so picky about the definition of "cheap shot". If you don't like the meaning, then fine. But, I know what it means so don't act like it isn't the right word. There are many different ways to interpret it but they are all essentially synonyms. It's just whether you use it formally or informally.

Formal Definition [Merriam-Webster Dictionary]: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cheap shot

Formal Definition [Cambridge Dictionary]: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/a-cheap-shot

Informal Definition [Urban Dictionary]: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Cheap+shot

Either way, it pretty much means an unfair feat against an opponent. Whether you want to add in the meaning of "desperation", "last ditch effort", "favoring one side", PoF, or Nakama doesn't matter. I'm not here for lessons on English. Plus, considering this is a forum, you have to be able to understand informal definitions as it is used a lot. Not to mention, your word choice is more informal than "cheap shot" which is a nicer way of putting it. Anyways, I'm here to get my point across.
