Weak argument? Boy, think about it. Natsu has that impressive reaction speed in base, so why wouldn't he be able to react just as fast and move even faster in Dragon Force? He's shown he's way faster in DF, so its only natural he'd also be able to move faster in different directions.

He didn't get hit in the end? What are you saying? Jellal got hit by Jura right as he finished it and it and he dropped to the ground before he cast Grand Chariot.

The point is, Natsu's shown he can move faster than Jellal's meteor and he has the reaction speed to adjust as needed as he's shown previously. You're literally grasping at straws here to try and get Jellal over the line when he literally gets dropped by a couple of attacks from Natsu.

Mirror Water would do the same sort of thing as what those brothers' pan did in the daybreak arc. It'd rehash the fire and send it back to Natsu, and he could eat the flames just like he did in the daybreak arc. So yeah, free meal to Natsu, how thoughtful. There's also the question of can Mirror Water reflect an attack with as large an AoE as the Flame Dragon King's Roar, which would go around the Mirror Water like Jura's rockiron fist.
Natsu is fast? When he used Igneels flames against Zeref, he was nearly at Gildarts speed at KoTsh.

You're just judging meteor off pretimeskip. It's obviously gotten faster. Jellal is too fast for Natsu, in meteor, he get blitz.

Natsu's speed against Zeref was relative to him in Base, just using Igneel's magic power. The magic power isn't going to make him any faster, its just going to make his attacks stronger, so I'm not getting your point here.

How can you legitimately claim Jellal is too fast for Natsu when he outsped Jellal in the past and there's nothing to suggest the same won't happen again? Natsu outsped Jellal before in the ToH with Dragon Force, and Natsu in general is faster now. Jellal on the other hand hasn't showed he can go any faster than what he showed in ToH (he was the same speed against Jura and OS), so you're literally making a baseless assumption here.

I'm just going to ask again, was it explicitly stated that the OS don't have their magic from KotSS? (Not a random question, part of my answer relies on this)

So when it came down too it; non could reasonably give a concrete reason as to why Natsu wouldn't decimate Jellal.

I find it disparate that Jellal is "assumed" faster than Natsu due to meteor arts -- make absolutely no mistakes about it; pre-skip meteor was slower than post-skip Natsu, & post-skip Jellal has no speed feat -- yet the DF's increase in stats is questionable?:amuse It isn't just disparate, it's also an objectively nonsensical argumention to embed in this thread.

Fact of the matter is; post-skip Jellal has a single feat; a feat which he put so much effort into in order to defeat a spriggian-lvl 'summoner', a feat that requires that he draws signs of the zodiac. Against a summoner that had no summoned opposing him -- as Erza & co dealt with them -- his performance was good; but against high-lvl hands-on combatants like Natsu or Laxus who are always gonna be gunning for his behind with blazingly powerful blasts, his performance wouldn't be as good.

Jellal could only put up an abysmal & shambolic performance here until he shows more feats.

Jellal was blitzing Natsu in meteor until he are Etherion. Which is the reason he beat him.

And he's faster when using Igneels flames. He has more magical power just like when he's in Dragon force. Base Natsu isn't capable of replicating Igneels power boost. He punched Zeref so far and got there instantly.

But all those fears above are Igneels power.

Base Natsu couldn't out run Meteor, and Jellal has grown more, what makes you think he can do it now? How can he even get past God Serna?

Unless Jellal can draw seals that are quite a distance away from him then I don't really get what you mean by this, against Neinhart there weren't any seals in the sky, he just said the incantation and the spell activated. I'm not opposed to Jellal being able to draw his seals from a distance, in fact that makes more sense, the seals that appeared (in the OS fight) before he said the incantation for Grand Chariot were actually the seals for Solid Seal (hence why the OS didn't move), and then like in the Neinhart battle, he said the incantation so the spell activated.

Also I wouldn't downplay Neinhart that badly, he's still a Spriggan (e.g more powerful than 95% of characters in the manga) so his durability shouldn't be that poor.

I've never said Base Natsu would outspeed Jellal's meteor, I've only said Dragon Force Natsu could, and regardless of what happened in the fight, Natsu still outsped Jellal in the ToH and thats a fact.

I don't see any indication that Natsu's speed is increased using Igneel's power from those pages, rather its just his attack power thats increased, and others here have agreed that only Natsu's attack power increased when he used Igneel's magic power to power his attacks and Flame Dragon King Mode.

I don't see why you're bringing God Serena into this, but if you want to know why Natsu beat him you can check the Natsu vs Serena quarter final and see the arguments that were made for both sides, and ultimately those arguments affected how some voted. Its as simple as that, but we should both stop discussing Serena as its off-topic and has no place in this thread.

What's the worse that could happen with mirror water anyways? Natsu could just tank his own fire, couldn't he? He managed to negate Auust's attack because it was a heat-based magic. It's not as if Jellal is going to reflect every single attack that comes his way either. Mirror water is unlikely going to work with any hand to hand attacks. Also, Jellal would have to be willing to carry around Mystogan's staffs in order to use this.
I don't particularly see the need to be so specific with the staff thing,so really there's no need to make it look like Jellal carrying the staffs is disallowed...
Anyway, about Natsu tanking his flames, you realize he's a Dragon Slayer, right?Out of all the Fire types we've seen in the manga,it only falls short of God Slayer flames..so yes,Natsu's flames can and will hurt him.In the fight with Totomaru, his own flames were being redirected to his face and they were leaving burns, and that was PL Natsu...
Silver's own Ice damaged him a fuckton,and he's also a Slayer type..so yes,a Slayer's own magic will damage them...
Heck Natsu used Zancrow's own flames to injure him and conclude the fight, and Zancrow is a God Slayer...
Saying that Natsu's own flames won't hurt him is so logically incorrect..

Sure, he was burnt, but Natsu wasn't actually damaged that badly by the attack. He still resists his own element (excluding God Slayer flames), and there's no evidence he wouldn't resist them so I don't see why that is the case. Totamaru directed Natsu's actual punches into his face, hence why there was a mark left more from the physical force rather than the flames. Silver was damaged a lot by his ice? No, he still said Ice had no effect on him, and at the end of the day he only got beaten by a steel ball. He wasn't that phased by the ice, so your point there is moot. And Zancrow used his own flames, not Natsu's, to attack Natsu so that point there is inaccurate as well.

Does Jellal usually carrying around the staffs? Because that is required to use the magic. It's not so much whether or not it's restricted. It's just that Mystogan's magic isn't normally part of Jellal's power-set.

Natsu was damaged by August's attack as well, but he still negated most of the damage. There's no reason he wouldn't be able to do the exact same thing with his own fire. If anything, the fact it's his own fire should make it easier.
]
Also, Totamaru made Natsu punch himself in the face. There's nothing to suggest that Natsu was actually burning himself since Natsu sets himself on fire all the time. If Natsu was burning himself, then his fist and arms should be burnt as well as they were engulfed by the exact same flames. Yet it was only his face, the part where he got punched, that showed signs of injury.

No,you're missing my point...I've not said that Natsu can't resist his own element...I'm saying his own magic (Fire Dragon Slaying Magic) will affect him if it touches him..
The only reason Natsu's flames didn't hurt him that much when he fought Totomaru is because he was only using basic attacks (Fire Dragon's Iron Fist),if he used more serious attacks there would have been more damage..
Um,Silver was damaged by his own Ice,when he froze the entire terrain so that Gray wouldn't use the rubble to fight back,Gray redirected Silver's own ice at him,it even destroyed his own armor and left considerable damage on Silver..
You're not getting what I mean with Zancrow...what I'm saying is that when Natsu ate Zancrow's flames and used Fire God's Brilliant Flame (an attack with Zancrow's own fire in it),it damaged Zancrow to the point of incapacitating him..
So yes,Natsu uses FDKM attacks,Jellal reflects them on him,the guy roasts himself

How can fire affect Natsu?Happy straight cut mentioned in his fight against Jackal that fire and heat based attacks don't effect Natsu. He is a Fire Dragon Slayer after all.Why are people forgetting it?Only God Slayer Magic works on him.

Not to get off-topic with this, but Chapter 391, Gray channel's Silver's ice and uses it against him, and on the last page of that Chapter Silver comes out of the attack saying "Its true I can't eat my own magic, but still, Ice doesn't work against me.." implying the ice did next to nothing to him. Earlier in that chapter, Gray did some damage to him by firing debris at him. The only other time Gray injured silver was in 392 when he used the steel ball. Point is, Silver was not effected by his ice, thus this part of your point is moot.

Linking that last line to the Natsu vs Jellal fight, say Natsu uses a fire attack, Jellal bounces it back with the mirror water and whats likely to happen is the exact same with Gray vs Silver: The element (in this case fire) won't effect Natsu that much, possibly at all. Now, I'm not sure how Jellal is going to reflect Natsu's physical attacks as I don't see how a punch from a human body would be bounced back other than it just getting pushed away, and if Natsu went for a demolition fist when Jellal went to cast mirror water who knows, Natsu could shatter the spell like he did the war god. Its just a theory (a manga theory). But in conclusion, Natsu isn't getting damaged that much, if at all from Mirror Water reflecting his attacks.

I doubt Mirror Water is going to be able to bend Natsu's fist back towards himself. Furthermore, there would be no physical component in a roar. Natsu would just engulf himself in fire, and tank it.

The crucial difference between Natsu and Silver is that Natsu has a feat of negating a heat-based attack from a mage of August's caliber. If he can come out relatively unscathed from August' attacks, then I don't see any reason he can't do that to one of his own because August's attacks should be stronger. If you want to say that Natsu's fires are stronger than August's, then...fine? That would just mean that Natsu's attacks are stronger than Augusts'. Unless you want to somehow say that Natsu's attack is weaker than Augusts, and yet somehow still harder to negate...which doesn't really make much sense considering it's Natsu's own magic.

We didn't see a dragon slayer vs a dragon slayer weilding the same magic before so i'm neutral at this point, it make sense if his flames can hurt him but to some extent.

Well from what we've seen so far the speed at which DF Natsu can travel is greater than Meteor, and DF can be speculated as being stronger than FDKM (Which imo it should be, with it being the final phase of Dragon Slayer magic and all).

Even if Jellal is moving around in unusual lines etc., there is nothing to say Natsu still can't hit him. Natsu has his ranged attacks and its not like they'll effect him at all as its fire magic and he doesn't take much damage from that stuff. What you're implying is that Jellal will always be on the defence from Natsu's attacks rather than trying to attack as well, and if he goes for his Grand Chariot or Sema (both which have to be charged if you want them to be stronger/work), then he's wide open to an attack.

Now I never said Natsu could fire off Flame Dragon King Demolition Fists all the time, but there isn't anything to say he can't either. We're allowed reasonable speculation so its not wrong to speculate he could use two in a combo, or throw some FDK spells in a combo. His combo definitely wouldn't be as long (have as many attacks) as a combo with regular flame dragon spells, but they'd still do a huge amount of damage when just one is enough to drop a Spriggan who was in really good condition. Jellal's durability is low enough that he'd be taken down with a couple of punches and the Demolition Fist, all that would be stronger than the four punches Natsu hit Jellal with while in Dragon Force in the ToH arc. Bottom line is, if Natsu hits Jellal then Jellal is in a pickle as he wouldn't be able to take too much more damage, and Natsu is more than capable of getting to him with his speed. Your "straight lines = Natsu's speed" argument is a bit silly as Natsu has shown in base he can change directions quickly, so the same would apply to Dragon Force which is just the most advanced form for a Dragon Slayer.
From what we've seent he speed of DF Natsu with his legs on fire as a propeller is greater than meteor when Natsu is traveling straight. That's all we've seen. Again, Jellal's smart, just like with basketball, you wait for the opening to cast your shot.

Hah. "reasonable speculation, so it's not wrong to speculate this really unreasonable thing right here." There's nothing suggesting that he can use the two in conjuction or else he would have done it against Zeref. Not even going to bother reading the rest of that paragraph, as it is just fanfiction.

What are you talking about? lmao that's the first time we see FDKM. He's not in base.

Because Natsu hasn't outsped Jellal. All we know is that he can go at super speed to close a gap, if it's straight and he has a surface to launch off of. You're acting like Natsu's in meteor himself when he's not. And that's the baseless assumption.

Sure, he was burnt, but Natsu wasn't actually damaged that badly by the attack. He still resists his own element (excluding God Slayer flames), and there's no evidence he wouldn't resist them so I don't see why that is the case. First off I said he could mirror water it away. I never said he'd fire it back to Natsu. It's fine if Natsu has resistence. Why? Cause that's not going to help him defeat Jellal, anyway lol. Neither side will have much damage, as a result.

Holy crap people...I'm not saying fire works on Natsu...I'm saying HIS own fire will affect him...be it in a reflectory attack or whatever it is...
Again,I'll bring out the Zancrow fight (I apologize for being unable to show manga panels on phone)..Natsu emptied his own magical vessel, ate Zancrow's flames and proceeded to attack Zancrow with his OWN God Slaying flames..and it worked...
Gajeel ate Rogue's Shadows and proceeded to beat Rogue with HIS own shadows...
A mage's own magic can work on their own body if redirected...when Gray fought Angel and used Ice Make:Lance,Gemini replicated the attack and it injured Gray and even blew him away...
Fire won't work on Natsu, but HIS own magic will work on him if redirected at him....
Yes he tanked August's own attack,I'm not denying that...but remember,August used NORMAL fire on Natsu,he could have eaten that attack if he wanted to..
When he fought Cobra he was thrown into a lantern and came out unscathed, because that was NORMAL fire and not Natsu's own fire...FROM HIS OWN BODY..
Fine then,Jellal can't use Mirror Water on Natsu's fists, but with long range attacks,he can reflect them quite easily...

Alright with all the new info..

Attack = Attack power of offensive spells
Defense = Guard power of defensive spells
Stamina = Amount of MP/length of time they can last
Endurance = Tanking hits
Speed = How fast they can move on average
Intelligence = Tactical in battle
Versatility = Spell diversity
AoE = Area of Effect by large-scale moves

Attack: Jellal = Current Natsu

Evens out.

Defense: Negligible

They don't have any explicit defensive spells or features that stand out.

Stamina: Jellal = Current Natsu
They are pretty equal in terms of this amount.

Endurance: Natsu > Jellal
Natsu has top-tier endurance. Jellal only has high endurance.

Speed: Jellal (Meteor) > DF Natsu

This one probably needs to be explained. As SirSamuel helped point out, in Dragon Force, Natsu's overcame the speed of meteor due to taking off from the ground, in a straight line. He needed a base to increase his speed (not pure DF speed, already), and there's nothing showing he can maneuver in the air while maintaining that boosted speed, either - only unreasonable speculation which is "not allowed in this tournament because we have not seen it, so it can't be possible." Jellal can use meteor at the same speed regardless of needing other outside things. He is also confirmed to be able to maneuver in meteor by flying. Going by what we see in the manga, meteor > DF "speed"

Intelligence: Jellal > Natsu

Obvious.

Spell diversity: Jellal > Natsu

Obvious

AoE: Jellal > Natsu
Obvious

Score:

2 ties
1 negligible
1 Natsu
4 Jellal

Natsu used Zancrow's fire to power-up because Zancrow was stronger than him, and Natsu had no way of beating him otherwise. Same with Gajeel and Shadow-Rogue. Gray's body wasn't resistant to damage by ice in the first place, as he wasn't a slayer then. Again, if Silver can tank his own ice, then why can't Natsu tank his own fire? Especially since Natsu can tank an attack from a mage like August.

Quite frankly, I don't see how this is even a discussion. Jellal himself said that Mystogan's magic wasn't enough to take down Jura. At this point, Natsu has the ability to oneshot opponents of Jura's caliber. I don't see how Jellal can possibly finish off Natsu with Mystogan's magic.

Why would his own fire be more effective than a stronger attack? Natsu used Zancrow's fire to power-up because Zancrow was stronger than him, and he had no way of beating him otherwise. Same with Gajeel with Shadow-Rogue. Gray's body wasn't resistant to damage by ice in the first place.

Again, if Silver can tank his own ice, then why can't Natsu tank his own fire? Especially since Natsu can tank an attack from a mage like August.
I...I think I need a moment here...
Natsu 'powered up' with Zancrow's flames..then HIT him with them..
Dragon God's Brilliant Flame is an attack with ZANCROW'S OWN FIRE IN IT, THE ONE NATSU HAD EATEN EARLIER!!!
NATSU'S OWN ATTACKS WILL WORK ON HIM BECAUSE A SLAYER CAN'T EAT THEIR OWN MAGIC,SO IT'S THE ONLY THING EFFECTIVE ON SLAYER TYPES!
SILVER CAN TANK HIS OWN ICE BECAUSE HE'S THE SUPERIOR SLAYER!!!! Ffs the guy could change the temperature of a room by standing there..
I'm not saying Natsu can't tank his own attacks,MY POINT IS THAT HIS OWN ATTACKS WILL INJURE HIM IF THEY HIT HIM!
Seriously I'm using examples and you people are just 'But Natsu can-"...No,he can't,and the same rules apply to all Slayer Type Mages...Natsu isn't an exception..
I'm done here..feel free to bring up any points you feel are relevant to showing why Natsu's own attacks won't work on him...
