Like, the 87 CP Caterpie and the 380 Pidgeotto have it.

It signifies the Pokémon you caught in the last 24 hours.

At first everyone thought it was to mark 'special' Pokémon, with the different size stats.
But that turned out to be wrong, there's no way to actually see that besides visiting the stat page of a Pokémon.

What Evil said about transfering a high CP/last evo poké only giving 1 candy as well is also driving me nuts. You try to evo a poké and then get a way better basic one and your ... "resources" (to put it this way) ends up as nothing u.u

Ah Gary, the female team plays here tomorrow. Leaving the airport yday was a small nightmare since they park the athletes bus where we park our cars (airport staff) and the area was all isolated for the US team that was arriving. Should be a good game against Sweden.
