Well it's not really the US or the EU specifically that's doing it. It's more than likely Saudi Arabia doing whatever the hell they want because they're backed by America. Admittedly, without the American Military in place Syria wouldn't be a country anymore. But the means aren't going to justify the ends

The civil war broke out when Gaddafi had lost power already. Lybia was a better place before, but it would not have stayed to be that place either way.
As i wrote to kkck, Gaddafi was already bombing down his own cities while the rebels had all the east of lybia. This would have been bloodshed and cities to ashes for years to come.
What about Iraq? Was Saddam losing power as well? Also, didn't the West supplied the rebels with arms so they could stage serious protest against Gaddafi?
Every war or Intervention has geostrategical reasons. If something is not in some way beneficial to a state, a politician will not decide that. Elseways he would be a bad politician.
So, what good has Iraq war done to US and UK? UK was involved heavily.
And Gaddafi went into that 'bomb em all' state before the Intervention. What makes you think that he could have got the Situation under control? We talk about the same Kind of war Guerilla war we see a lot nowadays. He would have bombed down whole east lybia and probably without actually getting victory. He lost half the Country even before the Intervention. He would not have lost but he would also not have won, at least not without years of bloodshed.
At this rate there won't be a stable Libya without years of bloodshed. Most importantly, did general Libyan people wanted west intervention?
Why would the US let a Terror organization which has sworn to destroy the whole take control of the arab world and africa when the People in the arab world and africa actually want the US to intervene?
The terror organizatioins rose to power partially because of their intervention.
Why would the US let dictators and terrorists bomb or airstrike civilians ? Just because they are scared that their Military Intervention might accidently kill civilians? I find it selifish to let slaughter on that scale happen just due to being afraid to let your own Hands get dirty.
Then why US would bomb them? Also why US has to care so much? Focus on their own nation before others.

Yeah... It's in dire need of attention right now. Has been for nearly a decade... America's a dying superpower tbh. The only ones that are cowed by them are certain nations in underdeveloped parts of the world. I mean, China pretty much shits on the US all the while stealing away their trade and manufacturing facilities :D

West could've intervened China in the 70's. Given Mao was more brutal than all Arab dictators combined. But I guess, they care more about their gain than protecting human rights all around. Whole EU would probably lose in a conventional war(No nuke) against China.

China's not a very pleasant place in my opinion (The countryside is gorgeous though) but it's almost a superpower in all but name these days. I'm sort of glad i live in a country that's so out of the way but also rich

Nope, not a very pleasant place. Government is very strict(Compared to Mao's time, extremely liberal and nice). Too much execution by government.(Still very low in number compared to Mao's time) Some discrimination to ethnic minorities.(Specially the Uyghur's and Tibetans)

'Never' isn't really the right word - but bombing certainly shouldn't be the go to solution for every perceived ill...

Was a fan of M3J's technique - start with a line like this:

... then follow with a 'solution' like that:

:eyeroll
Given my posts in US Election thread, it should be obvious by now how I really feel.

While pulling out is not simple, what else can we do? How effective are we, given ISIS is getting bigger and more powerful? Seems like all we're doing is taking out innocent civilians as well as some enemies, if any. Most of the Middle East see us as enemies because of whom we support, and how we "help" them.

Finding a solution to these problems are not easy. Countries want our aid, but do they or we have a plan,, or was it just come in, shoot shit, and leave like an 80s action movie? We could certainly help the countries' infrastructure and make it so that the countries are in better shape, which could decrease the chances of a Muslim joining the ISIS if they have peace and safety... but how do we do that while ISIS could be anywhere, and without it costing us tons of money? Given how we played a part in the rise of terrorist groups by arming and training them, is it really a safe idea for us to do that with the armies that are on our side?

Plus, the problem with warring ISIS is that we're not just warring the group, we're also warring their views and anger, which means there will usually be more to take the places of ISIS pawns as long as they face injustice, war, and instability.

I live in Australia. Politics here are usually about selling off or privatising Medicare, one of the best healthcare systems on the planet, to the Chinese funnily enough

Deciding not to interfere in other countries business anymore could be a good start.
Most of the Middle East see us as enemies because of whom we support, and how we "help" them.
Most of the world actually. Inquire about the most hated country in the world. USA usually comes in top 2 in every list. USA is not seen in a positive way, surely not in China, Russia. Don't think in UK either.(Best ally of US, lmao)
Finding a solution to these problems are not easy.
Maybe, not creating problems like this anymore could be a good solution.

This seems rather unlikely to me. If the UK is pissed off about their foreign policy choices in regards to this, blame Tony Blair and then blame Bush if you wish. But to say that the UK hates us over it... Well I'm just going to assume that this is nonsense. There has been very little wavering as far as the "special relationship" goes.

Blair gets the blame too. And I didn't say about hating. I just said the general public doesn't see them in a positive light. Surely Blair gets a lot of sticks for Iraq war as well.

Well, I certainly haven't come across/heard of much hatred towards the US.

In general, I believe that the US is seen in a reasonably positive light.

... we do find the narcissistic state of American exceptionalism a rather amusing phenomenon, however

I mean, compared to whom? Is Obama liked less than Bush was?

Is there new support for the Kremlin as an alternative? I mean, you live in a country that is no longer in the EU, so who do the UK look favorably upon?

Well, whether you believe such a thing or not. The concept doesn't necessarily come down to USA > everyone else.

It's more about the way the country was formed and how the government is structured and how that makes us unique. But anyone parroting such a thing for the sake of murican chauvinism is kind of missing the point in my eyes...

Obama is liked more than Bush.
I worded in a wrong way. UK have good relation with US. And not that people in general hate USA
But a lot of general public would not support many US actions regarding foreign issue. Iraq war is seen as a mistake.

Aye, the Iraq war isn't seen positively, but that isn't the same as the US itself.
I worded it in a wrong way.

What about Iraq? Was Saddam losing power as well? Also, didn't the West supplied the rebels with arms so they could stage serious protest against Gaddafi?
The iraq war was a mistake, but what does that have to do with future interventions? No, the west didnt. the west started supplying weapons and other Aide only after the UN Intervention was started,

So, what good has Iraq war done to US and UK? UK was involved heavily
None, because it was a failure build on lies. At the Point in time it was agreed upon, the politicians voting actully thought Saddam was preparing weapons of mass destruction and it made sense to get a foothold at iraq.
What i am saying is that every forgein political Thing has a reason with one's own Country in mind. The US build up Germany as a foothold against the communists back then. It was still a good Thing. So ulterior motives are not making something wrong.

At this rate there won't be a stable Libya without years of bloodshed. Most importantly, did general Libyan people wanted west intervention?
There are no cities bombed into the ground in lybia, there are also no mass killings. And that is what we could have exspected without the Intervention.

I am pretty sure the lybian People do not want to be bombed or have their homes destroyed. Also, ist not like we can make a Nation wide poll in regions of crisis before deciding an Intervention.
The terror organizatioins rose to power partially because of their intervention.
Which is one more reason to take the responsibility. Why would it prevent the US from rectifying what they did wrong?

Then why US would bomb them? Also why US has to care so much? Focus on their own nation before others.
The US does not 'bomb them'. YOu cannot equate what assad does or Gaddafi did (willingly and openly bombing civillians and cities) to the bombing of Targets in accordance to local groundforces where there can be accidental casualties.
If you compare the death numbers of US led airstrikes to what any other Nation does, it becomes really obvious that the US in fact does ist best to prevent those accidents from Happening.
Just as a comparison: All coalition airstrikes and other measures together (so NATO+arab league#some others) amounted to roughly 1500 civilian deaths at Maximum (there are much lower estimates) in iraq and syria since 2011.
This number sounds high, but it is dwarfed by the estimated 100.000 civilians killed by assad. It is dwarfed by the at least 20.000 civilian deaths caused by Isis (and These are only the confirmed ones, we are going to find lots of mass graves now that Isis is on the retreat).

So why would the US as a Nation with the power and measures to intervene not do it? The effect of the US in the war against Isis was largely positive. They helped the kurds to Keep their terrority (elseways kobane would probably have been lost), they helped the lybians to drive Isis out of sirte, they helped to free a lot of cities in iraq. Casualties of war happen in every single war. But they are no reason to let more People die and a Region drown in Terror.

Now admitting it as a mistake after so much life has lost..........
At least something should be learned from these mistakes.

None, because it was a failure build on lies.
I'm sure when it happened it was a righteous act. We also need to understand Iraq invasion probably cost more lives than 24 years of Saddam's regime.

Libyan people must be very happy about the intervention then? Libyan intervention should be seen as a huge success.

Does it give the outsiders the right to start bombing?
Which is one more reason to take the responsibility. Why would it prevent the US from rectifying what they did wrong?
Rectifying it by doing the same thing again?

Like I said Iraq war caused more lives than Saddam's rule. I wonder what would the people of those countries prefer? US, NATO intervention or Live under a dictator?

The lesson has been learned. But it was to not intervene due to false reasons and to not use groundsoldiers because it fuels unnecessary Anger.
The lesson is not to never intervene again, because that would be really stupid.
And as i said: If we got by deathnumbers, then the US Engagement in lybia, the recent iraq Isis Intervention and syria has lessened the death numbers which we could exspect there by a good margin.
So tell me why that is bad.
Libyan people must be very happy about the intervention then? Libyan intervention should be seen as a huge success.

The lybia Intervention was a good Thing, the iraq war was not. I think i made that clear by now.
And yes,we had the right to intervene in lybia, given by the UN, the only authority which can even give the right to do that (and which did not give it in iraq rightfully).

Whther the lybian People are happy about it is a question you have to ask them. If they had been happy under assad, however, assad would not have lost the territory of half the Nation with countless of defects from the Military and Police.
