It's probably just an inconsistency with the Mel and Dolor fight. They happen from time to time, and it's hard to keep track of all the power levels. For what it's worth though, power levels are pretty accurate in determining fights. Even when Estarossa was getting smoked, one of the things he took note of was Escanor surging power.

He wasnt using any magic so it normal they cant sense him (even though they did or maybe it merlins)
No one was able to sense escanors while he isnt using it
When they were in the maze no one sensed it for 3 days (unless he got out but i dont think he did )

Seems pretty simple to me. Arthur hasn't actually figured out what his magic is, so no one can sense it yet.
As high it is? I don't think I can buy that. Besides, when Escanor first transformed, he wasn't using his magic, yet Mel and Merlin were able to feel it. And if they can feel how powerful Galan is without him even having Magic at the time, I don't see why they can't feel the amount of potential power Arthur has despite the fact that he can't use it. And again, Hawk and Gowther should have said something as they have Balor's Eye of Power. They should have seen how much power he had.

Well power levels are bullshit
They are and the sensing thing is as well as it's usually just used for hype. Nakaba really didn't need to reveal Arthur's power level in the databook like this. He could have kept it at zero.

Did you just figure that out now?

They were always bs, and Suzuki should get rid of them asap.
Nakaba should bring back the demon king and make him so strong he breaks the power eyes so that nobody but Gowther/Dolor can use it and he rarely uses it for anything but data.
I'm half expecting the entire second arc to be a bit of a let down, because it looks to me like it was mostly set up for a huge fight rather than progressing the plot at a steady pace, training the sins and confronting the commandments by the end.

Arthur
Power level: 40000
Magic: 37600 Strength: 900 Spirit: 1500
What in the actual fuck. 37600 magic.........Only Gloxinia is higher. That magical ability is going to be OP as hell I see. If Arthur does get his own manga though, who could challenge him?
The most likely explanation is that dolor took a huge amount of damage from escanor's attack and thus meliodas was able to match him with his strength. Then of course gloxinia and dolor got healed, which likely restored their strength but meliodas was already using his more advanced transformations and thus could keep up.
Yea, thats how I interpreted that as well. Thats why Mel waited for the right moment after all. Dolor got fucked up before Mel challenged him and he seemed confident that he could knock back Mel with a punch. But he couldnt and then Mel used his black mark so who knows how strong he was.

Twinsies, yay.

Ahem, well for me it's just a matter of getting rid of it altogether, none of it makes sense. So Mel is supposed to have taken on two commandments who are in the 50K PL range? The only way I can make sense of it is perhaps Dologlox aren't original demons, if we think about it they didn't even use the darkness power which is common to all demons, while Mel did so that might have given him an edge. Which begs the question why didn't Dologlox use the darkness? Maybe they can't, even though Glox obviously has a demon mark.I don't know, it makes no sense.
Not just that but Escanor is supposed to have weakened them before that, while he was just 28800 in PL? Granted he used Rhitta's release, so let's say he doubled his power at that moment. It still wouldn't explain everything. And then frigging Arthur having 40K PL, but he struggled against a gray demon. It's true that he hasn't unlocked his magical ability yet, but I feel it was too premature to reveal the truth about his PL.

Since pretty much everything goes back to DB apparently, while in DBZ the scouters were introduced and they showed the power levels of the characters, they slowly got rid off since the fighters from Earth could hide their power level/ki. So that imo is what ultimately should happen, or like you say destroy the power eyes, but even then Merlin could sense Escanor's PL, and pretty much everyone can sense the power of someone, but it takes the power eyes to get the detailed values.

They can probably use it, but, not very well... on the page it shows the commandments all flying off to Edinburgh, they are using very basic versions of the magic just to fly and that looks to be it! As for Merlin's ability to sense Escanor's PL... that could be her knowing Escanor's level/magic very well so she could tell and the magic she and Mel were sensing was getting stronger so she knew.
Or Merlin's orb has the function of a power eye whilst? Maybe that has something to do with her magic infinity though, who knows by this point?
But as it stands... i really think the power levels should become irrelevant. Maybe to a point where someone actually states in the manga that power levels are nothing but unreliable numbers (Someone like Merlin) and that only if the odds are too great does it actually make a difference whether or not you can win?

Ps: I noticed the profile pics too, YAY!!! :pleased

Some more information about Merlin she easily surpassed her master in a blink of an eye and has had other apprentices other than Vivian. This come from the Q&A section of the fanbook. There's still the Vampire clan profiles to come as well.

Arthur is special guys, deal with it :cheez.

Power Level detection always differed from person to person in this manga. For example in Arthur's case, Nanashi seems to be the only one wary of Cath.

Think of it like a generator, no matter how much power it can put out, if it's not on, you can't really tell, can you?

Besides, when Escanor first transformed, he wasn't using his magic, yet Mel and Merlin were able to feel it.
He was using his magic, Jericho and Merascylla mentioned how hot it was getting. That's his magic.

And if they can feel how powerful Galan is without him even having Magic at the time
They were feeling his killing intent.

And again, Hawk and Gowther should have said something as they have Balor's Eye of Power. They should have seen how much power he had.
He wasn't using it, or even accessed it, so the power eye couldn't figure it out.

Escanor is special. It's been shown and reinforced a thousand times. And there is clearly a as of yet explained reason.

Arthur was only said to have potential in manga.

Nakaba also said Arthur has the potential so surpass the sins(doesn't necessarily include escanor, and Meliodas as most statements that refer to the sins as a group power-wise obviously don't include Escanor and Meliodas, who are currently vastly stronger then their friends, and will most likely remain significantly stronger then their friends even when they get their power ups).

Arthur, as a human especially, randomly having 37k worth of magic just cause he's the chosen one, makes him the epitome of an asspull, not special.

Agreed, it feels forced that he has to be this special snowflake, just because what, he'll rule Britannia one day?

Rather I think this would have made more sense if Arthur had his own series in the future, and this is just the preparation for that. It's called the 7 deadly sins, not Arthur and the Sins.

Either way I think Suzuki (and his editor) uses the strongest loosely, in the manga there's no doubt that Escanor is the strongest atm, while every now and then Mel is called the strongest, even when he's not his prime self and is nowhere near Escanor.

So who knows what surpassing really means. Either way it's just an asspull. And it goes without saying that he doesn't need that in order to rule Britannia, he should have his Knights of the round table who will help him in his endeavors, and it includes quite a few characters from the Sins.

Arthur will get his own manga.

He's supposed to be the main character of nakaba's next manga after this ends.

Why is everyone getting so worked up about Arthur of all people, I just don't get it. He's a legend among legends. Not now, but he will eventually grow into that role once he is an adult.

And that is really all there is to it. People fly off the handle because of a bunch of high numerical values which don't even matter at all at the current point in time because the boy hasn't even so much as unlocked a magic power and it remains to be seen whether or not he even will do that during the high time of this manga. This is the story of the Seven Deadly Sins. Even if Arthur awakens his powers, doesn't mean his is immediately proficient enough to utilize it to its fullest potential.

This book is a bonus data mine for loyal fans who eat up this kind of stuff. In how far it matters in the actual manga remains to be seen in not only Arthur's but several other instances.

Was that confirmed?
Not sure but I seem to recall something like that too, from an interview with Nakaba or something? I believe he intends to make a spin-off.
Whether that'll actually happen or not remains to be seen.

So it hasn't been confirmed, it's just a rumour.I think we could get that confirmation when the manga enters its final arc, and tbh I'd be more interested in seeing him do something else after NnT, with a completely different setting.

PS:Btw was your hunch back at NF correct?:heh
