ahem Historia Serena was able to take Head-strike against Fairytail Strongest Gildarts and Gildarts can create crater with casual punches and Gildarts casual attacks is stronger than Erzas strongest attacks,
and Ajeel has to resort his strongest attack against Erza.. its obvious Serena and Gildarts can wreck Ajeel tier opponents with Medium-difficulty

Laxus casual Thunder-bolt was so Powerful that August decided to use Barrier against it While Ajeel was shitting in his pants and Laxus is weaker than Gildarts...

size isn't the only basis of power hence i dont get where you got the idea of Gildart's casual strike > Erza's Nakagami attack.

also Gildarts used his strongest ability to date just to put down Historia Serena, who even failed to do considerable damage to team Natsu.

How can you even come to this conclusion at all. There is no evidence of Laxus nor Natsu currently being weaker than Gildart's. Also it took Jupiter+Nakagami to take Azir out. Not to mention none of Serena attacks came close to Azir attack that wrapped all Magnolia around it. Also Gildart's didn't use just a causal punch last time I check it was called emperen.

I agree. I am of the same belief that Ajeel can't really be compared to God Serena.

size isn't the only basis of power hence i dont get where you got the idea of Gildart's casual strike > Erza's Nakagami attack.
Although it is true that size isn't necessarily the only indicator for attack power, **Salty** actually has a point. I would agree that Gildarts' Empyrean isn't really a casual attack, but at the same time it isn't confirmed to be the strongest (if you disagree with this, it would only help my claim).

Anyways, even if we just ignore destructive capacity (which Gildarts clearly beats Erza in), we can still tell that Gildarts' attack is just as potent as Erza's (if not stronger). This actually makes sense because Gildarts is far stronger than Erza.

Look at it this way. It took Erza and the Jupiter Cannon to defeat Ajeel. But Gildarts, by himself, was able to take out God Serena's historia. Now I do take into account the fact that Gildarts fought a weaker version of God Serena. However, it would still be more or less comparable to defeating Ajeel (as Ajeel is not on the same level as God Serena).

You can disagree with my conclusion that Ajeel is weaker than God Serena and call it a "circular argument". But what we still can't deny is the fact that Gildarts is stronger than Erza who acknowledged God Serena's power and compared himself to him. So why couldn't an average attack from Gildarts be stronger than Erza's strongest attack? The difference between the two characters is quite large.

Although there is no solid evidence that Laxus and Natsu are weaker than Gildarts, there also isn't any proof to say the opposite. So, normally, I would say it is inconclusive. But that would only suffice if all the characters mentioned had no feats. Since, they all have enough feats, I don't see any problem with stating the opinion that Gildarts is stronger than Laxus/Natsu. After all, considering what was shown, it is a perfectly legitimate claim.

Saying that it took the Jupiter Cannon and Nakagami Starlight to take Ajeel out would only help the argument that Gildarts' Empyrean is equal to or stronger than Erza's Nakagami Starlight.

As for Ajeel's Sand World, that would be more focused on AoE (which was not the subject of debate). I believe what was being compared between Gildarts' spell and Erza's spell is their attack power.

I agree that the punch was not casual but he clearly wasn't going all out to the point that it was a life-and-death situation.

same case can be said for erza, just like gildart's empyrean it isn't confirmed that Nakagami's her penultimate capability.

there's really no indication that shows the difference in power between nakagami starlight and empyrean. empyrean destroyed Historia Serena which we know weaker than the original hence has unknown durability.

i'm not even saying erza's on gildarts tier or something, but saying historia Serena is stronger than Ajeel is so wrong there's not a single feat from him that shows he's above Ajeel.

Finishing off Ajeel can be seen as a better feat than taking out Historia Serena.

I'd say Nakagami Starlight is above the Empyrean used against Serena. One is an exhaustive attack for Erza, the other isn't an exhaustive attack for Gildarts. So even if Erza has less MP than Gildarts, her attack could be superior. Nakagami's hax cancelling capabilities are also worth noting, though Gildarts has this to some extent with his own magic

However I'm postive Gildarts can either put more power into Empyrean or has a better spell. After all I couldn't say Erza ~ Gildarts, Gildarts seems like he's stronger. He's likely comparable to or better than God Serena, which would place him at around Laxus level.

well, Gildarts is still called the strongest man in FT guild so I guess he is above Laxus by that statement. if not by feats then its by hype and that statement.

Gildarts might be able to beat Laxus, but I was mainly talking about the level Gildarts is at. They can be the same level but Gildarts win the fight, like Laxus and Jura used to be.

yeah, probably. unless he pulls off Fairy Law which apparently we will never see again because of "reasons" unknown to this day. hoping for Fairy Law in spin off.
it could be similar like when Mavis used against Yuri - destroying the evil. it could happen in his spin off.

Fair enough. We disagree. My only concern with your previous post was the part where you said you don't know how someone can say that Gildarts' Empyrean is stronger than Erza's Nakagami Starlight. I mean it shouldn't be very surprising considering there is a good possibility that is true. Even if it isn't, we don't have any proof to say the opposite.

You don't have to that believe Ajeel is weaker than God Serena's historia, but we already have feats from previous arcs to support our side of the argument.

Gildarts' Empyrean took out Tenrou Bluenote.

Erza's Nakagami Starlight took out GMG Minerva.

In my opinion, Tenrou Bluenote ≥ GMG Minerva. If you disagree, then we just won't agree here.

I disagree with Erza's Nakagami Starlight being above Gildarts' Empyrean. If the basis for your argument is that one attack is exhaustive and the other isn't, that can be lead to problems. I mean if we're just talking about MP alone, Gildarts already beats Erza in that aspect. So because exhaustion is relative to a person's MP, it is hard to say for sure that the reason why Erza was exhausted and Gildarts wasn't was because of the MP consumption regarding both of their attacks.

Now I will settle with your statement that is Gildarts is comparable to God Serena and Laxus (I'd say Gildarts is a little stronger but that is besides the point).

Let's go back to the original topic of discussion. If I understand **Salty** correctly, his post was to explain why God Serena is that much stronger than Ajeel. I can see that many of you don't like his example but what he is trying to say makes sense. Anyways, so that I can make you guys see our point, I'll use a different approach.

If one can agree that Gildarts is comparable to God Serena and Erza is comparable to Ajeel, then I don't see why you wouldn't agree that God Serena is quite stronger than Ajeel. To put this into perspective, replace Gildarts with Laxus who you also say is also comparable to God Serena. I think we can all agree that there is a significant difference in power between Laxus and Erza.

It's one consideration... the other is that finishing off Ajeel can be considered a better feat than finishing off Historia Serena.

A full powered Empyrean, should this be Gildarts best attack, should be better than Starling. But right now with the 2 spells we've seen, I've got no problem saying Starlight is better. The Empyrean Gildarts used against Historia might not have been full powered.

God Serena isn't much stronger than Ajeel in my opinion. In terms of MP and physicals they're more or less the same (with Serena having slightly better physicals possibly). Offensively Ajeel in Sandworld is quite powerful, though I give Serena the nod with multiple DS magic which can do a lot of damage. So all in all, I have Serena above Ajeel.

If one can agree that Gildarts is comparable to God Serena and Erza is comparable to Ajeel, then I don't see why you wouldn't agree that God Serena is quite stronger than Ajeel. Well I'm not saying Erza is Gildarts level, I'm saying Erza's exhaustive attack is better than one Gildarts used. Empyrean could be stronger, but I prefer Starlight as of information right now.

Laxus is to me at least comparable to Serena, leaving leeway for him to be stronger. It's not a big difference or anything, just like Serena relative to Ajeel. I give Gildarts the benefit of the doubt that he's similar to Laxus.

Unless of course Laxus' nuke can actually oneshot Ajeel. If that's the case I'd either be forced to elevate Laxus considerably above Gildarts/Ajeel/Serena/Erza. However I consider that to be unlikely.

That would be true if Ajeel = God Serena to begin with; however, that wouldn't make sense (especially if we scale the characters correctly). What I mean here is that I will accept Ajeel being on par with God Serena as long as Laxus is on par with Erza.

Maybe. I find a few problems with the logic behind this reasoning. First of all, it's hard to gauge a full-powered attack from one that isn't because it could either be at the low end of the spectrum or right in the middle of it. Second of all, if it takes a full-powered attack from Gildarts (his best spell) just to beat Erza's strongest spell, then that would mean there isn't much of a difference between them. And this would mean that there isn't really much of a difference between Laxus and Erza either. Obviously, Gildarts and Laxus are quite stronger than Erza so it is believable that a less powerful attack from them could be stronger than Erza's strongest spell.

I would agree that their MP are pretty much the same. But in terms of physicals and the other stats, I would rank God Serena higher.

I still don't see how God Serena can be relative to Ajeel when Laxus is at least comparable to God Serena himself (according to your statements). That would make Laxus comparable to Ajeel who we know is more or less equal to Erza. So that would mean Laxus and Erza are essentially on par with each other.

In order for this to make sense, I would assume either God Serena has to be quite stronger than Ajeel or Laxus is stronger than everybody else (which is highly unlikely and would totally skew the power rankings). And if we inflate Laxus' power to be that high, then we could do the same for Jellal/Gildarts. So then Fairy Tail shouldn't really have any problems in dealing with Alvarez's Spriggans.

while Gray was seen struggling against Ur, albeit holding back,
>Struggling against Ur

You can't have both in one sentence, pick one
Erza is nowhere near Spriggan level Randy, she lost to Azir and had to have Bisca bail her out, and Azir is among the weakest of the Spriggan 12..
Honestly, saying Erza and Gray are in the same level here is doing a huge disservice to Gray himself...I'm going to have to disagree with you here

but now Neinhart is healthy.
Same could be said for Lessio after he was taken out by Natsu's FDKM Demolition Fist...wait are you trying to downplay Jellal here in favor of Natsu?
--- Double Post Merged, ---
Natsu is overall Spriggan level imo.
Even in base form? So why couldn't he finish off Lessio and Azir when he fought them one on one?
His attack power is above anything a Spriggan has feats for. FDKM demolishing strike is enough to take out Jacob. That's one move, Natsu can probably string together multiple attacks in FDKM.
A Lessio who had taken up plenty of attacks before and wasn't fresh from the moment Makarov beat him out of the Guild Hall....so no, that feat doesn't count...if Natsu had used his Demolition Fist on Lessio at full health then you may have had a point...but this doesn't work in this scenario..
Also this statement:
"Probably string together multiple attacks"
I thought probabilities were disallowed in judging power levels? Until seen otherwise then Demolition Fist is the only technique Natsu has in FDKM..

Ajeel is definitely above Historia Serena, so it's an opinion as to who's attack did more damage.

I would agree that their MP are pretty much the same. But in terms of physicals and the other stats, I would rank God Serena higher.
God Serena's physicals are probably better, but not by much. I only give Serena the benefit of the doubt here because he's a dragon slayer.

Maybe. I find a few problems with the logic behind this reasoning. It is hard to gauge whether an attack is full powered, there's always going to room for error. I'm willing to accept large degrees of error because it's not like I can measure stuff, all I can do is get a general feel from the panels and compare the damage it does to people. Generally signs of exhaustion hint full power, increase cast time, or a significant bump in AoE/damage are the kinds of indicators I look for.

As for the Gildarts/Erza comparison, that would be true if Gildarts uses his best spell at full power. And it is believable that a less powerful attack from Gildarts is stronger than Erza's best (said this before) but my opinion right now is Erza's hit on Ajeel > Gildarts hit on Serena. And again Gildarts most powerful attack should be stronger than Starlight, given I place Gildarts above Erza and he's always had immense offensive power.

I still don't see how God Serena can be relative to Ajeel when Laxus is at least comparable to God Serena himself (according to your statements). That would make Laxus comparable to Ajeel who we know is more or less equal to Erza. So that would mean Laxus and Erza are essentially on par with each other.

At least comparable to me is the lowest I expect Laxus to place. There's still some questions as to how strong Laxus is given the clarity (or lack of) in the Wahl fight. Is he Wahl level and won with a convenient attack? Or is he strong enough to defeat Wahl-level opponents with handicaps? If it's the former, then he's comparable to God Serena. If it's the latter, than he is much stronger than Serena. So that's the range for Laxus ie Serena =< Laxus =< mid diffing Serena.

As for the Spriggans, I don't think Jellal, Laxus or Gildarts can be soloed by anything less than a top tier Spriggan. Those are August, Irene and probably Larcade.

>Struggling against Ur

Lol I guess I did make a hypocritical statement.

What I mean is Gray struggled using that level of effort. With that level of effort he wouldn't be able to beat Ur. He'd needed to try harder.

As for Erza I did make a few posts before about why I think she's close to Spriggan level. And Gray is someone who is lacking feats, or any displays worth noting to be above Erza. This should change over time when Gray actually brawls. I don't see it as a disservice to Gray as I've not applied a limit to him. I'm not expecting him to be as strong as Natsu, or DF Gajeel.

Same could be said for Lessio after he was taken out by Natsu's FDKM Demolition Fist...wait are you trying to downplay Jellal here in favor of Natsu?
Haha no, the quote I did for the post you quoted me for was about FDKM demolishing strike only hurting Jacob's nose... when in fact it KO'd him. The same thing happened with Jellal, he took out Neinhart with GC. But now they're both healthy. Same goes for Ajeel who was cut up badly. Those Spriggans were all beaten.

Even in base form? So why couldn't he finish off Lessio and Azir when he fought them one on one?
Overall, meaning everything in his arsenal. The only thing I exclude right now for Natsu is DF. If I factored that in he'd certainly be above Laxus, and likely above everyone except Acnologia and Zeref.

Jacob was basically fine when he was punched by Makarov. He took a few hits from Lucy, Natsu and Loke, none of which did anything more than minor damage. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say he has 90+% of health after Makarov hit him. If you compare this to say God Serena, he needed 3 attacks to take out Hyberion and co and they all had injuries before that. So FDKM is better than Serena's DS powers that he showed.

Natsu has an FDK roar as well. It's very likely he has a secret art in this mode. We should see more. What I'm saying is Natsu can do more than 1 attack in the mode, he just needs an opponent who can tank it.

I expect Gray to be stronger or as strong as Gajeel at the end of the series after the whole END plot finishes. Especially considering Gray is more relevant than the character himself, so Mashima will likely make it happen.

Also Normal DF Gajeel won't be as strong as Alvares DF Gajeel since he was boosted with MPB, and not his own energy.

Why God Serena is above Ajeel
1. Jura and Hyperion can probably beat Erza High-Extreme difficulty...
2. God Serena is spriggan level opponent even with his base magic...stated by Makarov.Hyperion...

God Serena is above Ajeel but its not an utter shitstomp as some people are making out to be. Erza couldn't beat Ajeel because Ajeel' Sandworld has some hax in it. you basically cannot hit him if you don't have big enough AoE. put Mirajane, Natsu and Laxus against Ajeel and they can definitely hit him. Erza' AoE is as big as my own punch lol. she might have some counter against him like wind and water but that is useless when he is in the Sandworld.

put Erza against Jacob and she will shitstomp him if his Transport is restricted. put her against Wahl and it could go either way. put her against Neinhart and she will one shot him.

this is why I no longer have Spriggan level thing going on because when someone says that Erza is not that tier then I get really sick.

What hax? Sand World is just a technique that covers an entire area in sand and limits people's visibility....that's not hax...I'd liken it to Simon's Dark Moment that covers everything in darkness....yet Fukuro could still spot him inside it.....

what I meant to say is this

hax is not a word for it, I agree. I have 2 definitions for hax ;)

so saying that Erza is not on none existent "Spriggan tier" is ridiculous.

I agree they'll likely be peers, but I do think base Gajeel has better showings than base Gray for now. Gray could get a power up to surpass the likes of Gajeel. I don't expect his trump to be above dragon force Gajeel if this is fully demonised Gray. If it's something else like Momento Mori, or shadow possession, then perhaps Gray will go above. As for plot, Gray's power is to defeat END, and this is a super-effective magic against etherious, so he doesn't need to be stronger than Gajeel just because of plot. He wasn't any stronger than Natsu in Tartarus when he got some of Silver's MP, but he was able to take out Mard, but even Natsu with a power up couldn't.

Gajeel ate anti-magic particles against Bloodman. Apparently there are fractions of iron in these particles. These are not ethernano particles so it's a little different to other DF power ups like Etherion Natsu. I expect Gajeel to maintain a similar level of power in DF as he used against Bloodman, provided he can reach an equivalent level of dragonification.
