Fantasy Makarov runs a gauntlet

Makarov, once the strongest or 2nd strongest member of Fairy Tail... has now been relegated to a position where he's hardly relevant. FT members have improved way too much... but still, the war has ended and he decides to have a gauntlet to measure the power of his members. He can heal after every round.

Although no-one has intent to kill, everyone's gonna be merciless. Assume Fairy Law is not gonna work.

Yeah pretty much.

Makarov gets both underrated and overrated. I'd say he is the strongest or second strongest behind Tenrou Gildarts in the tier he is in (which includes characters like GMG Laxus and Jura). But its important to note that that tier is pretty insignificant in comparison to the tiers that this arc has established (even low-tier Spriggans like Jacob can defeat someone like Makarov with relative ease).

With Makarov's current health, he might not be able to endure a difficult battle.

My view of Makarov's relevance is that he's not a fighter in the story anymore, and thus Hiro will not give him any decent feats in battle. Moreover his previous feats have been well and truly surpassed by some of the guild members. He still has Fairy Law, but that's it - and Hiro doesn't let him use it anymore it seems.

I don't think Makarov beats Lucy. He could win any of the battles before Lucy's round. After that he won't win.

How's he gonna handle Current Freed when he's getting pushed this hard by freaking random foot soldiers. Even the likes of Alzack, Warren and Vijeeter are doing better than him.

I stopped viewing Makarov as one of the top dogs around since the GMG and I think during this timeskip, Makarov has actually gotten weaker :|

Makarov is old and he has heart problems. he cannot fight forever. his stamina is low as hell. I mean, he is over 80 years old plus heart problems.

You all seem to be forgetting Makarov might've fought over a thousand mage soldiers from Alvarez's forces for all we know, this is why he's exhausted (Max is exhausted too and he's not 80ish). Also you're forgetting he heals after every round.

But yeah, I agree with you, he's getting old and he's not getting the spotlight lately, he's not that good of a fighter now although he was once 1/2nd in FT (only after Glidartz).

It depends in alot of these battles.

Makarov vs Characters from round 1-4: Makarov stomps because none of those characters have any feats really.

Makarov vs Freed: Actually I will give this to Freed as his ruines could without a doubt put a hurt on Makarov. He could trap Makarov and make Makarov feel immense pain. So I will give it to Freed Mid-High Difficulty. Without PIS or CIS I don't see Freed losing without a high difficulty fight.

Makarov vs DF Wendy: I will give this to Makarov due to the fact Wendy Skydrill while strong isn't powerful enough to take him out or really hurt him. IDK though.

Makarov vs Juvia: Makarov low difficulty. Even with his heart problems Juvia doesn't stand a chance.

Makarov vs Lucy: The battle depends on a lot of stuff. Like Where is Makarov Magical power in comparison to Lucy's in the sense of Gemini copying him. Does Lucy Summon the CSK? So forth and so on.

-Lucy(NO CSK/No Gemini) vs Makarov: Either way High Difficulty or ends in a draw.
-Lucy(With Gemini) vs Makarov: Lucy Mid Difficulty
-Lucy(With CSK): Low Difficulty

Makarov vs Warrod: I will give this to Makarov as he seems more battle oriented than Warrod. So makarov Mid difficulty.

Makarov vs Gajeel: Gajeel High Difficulty. I think he could cut Makarov up with his Iron Sword.

Makarov vs Thunder God Tribe: Thunder God Tribe low difficulty. Honestly the minute Bicklow or Evergreen catch Makarov with their eye magic the battle is over. Not to mention Freed can write a ruine restricting Makarov from using his magic.

Makarov vs Erza: Erza low difficulty is she goes for Red Pants or Nakagami Armor. Even without those armors I say mid difficulty at worst.

Makarov vs Mirajane: Makarov Mid difficulty. I don't see SE doing any damage as he easily blocked Jupiter. In physical combat Makarov Titan form would destroy Mirajane's algeria form.

Makarov vs The rest: The rest beat him low-mid difficulty. People like Natsu/Gildarts and Laxus can one shot him and Gray could probably low-mid diff him also with instant freeze. Although if Instant freeze don't work then it becomes a high difficulty battle for Gray against Makarov.

Makarov makes it to Erza, Lucy is about Tartaros Erza tier at the moment imo, not enough to take Makarov, base Gajeel is his hardest fight but in Titan mode his defense is high enough to tank his attacks and use Fairy Law

It was when Grimoire Heart's ship was landing on Tenrou island. Makarov went Titan form and tried to stop them. He tanked a shot from Jupiter with his arm, and then proceeded to cast Fairy Law. Got interrupted by Hades, the fight began, etc etc.
