Tfw when Dr. Sprite is losing to Monster Musume 2.0.

Certainly was an interesting TOC after the usual funeral preparations.

Red Sprite will rise in the coming weeks. The story just greatly expanded afterall.
Let's imagine that you're not being sarcastic for a second, shall we? Why it will fail:

The art is very weird... There's no plot whatsoever... The characters are just "there", being completely useless for the story so far... The protagonist makes no sense at all... And we are through of one piece wannabes and fujobaits ;/

Also, you should read Uratarou. Seriously. Do it.

I don't even think Red Sprite is terrible. It just doesn't have an engaging world. That's my issue.
I don't feel any kind of atmosphere from the story. I don't even feel a tone. It just feels like "this world exists", and that's it.
The MC is kind of cool, but as of now he reminds me of Kirito from SAO. He's made to just be a bad ass. He has no other character trait.
Also, there's not about the world that makes me want to get invested.

It should be chapter 180 of Shokugeki.
----------------------------------------
Yuuna ranked first in one chapter so it should not be a surprise anymore on its high ranking. Its ranking from couple issues ago (starting at 41) were:

4, 6, Color Page, Color Page, 7, and now 4.

And its sale already better than To Love Ru with 1 season of anime 8 years ago. It's on its way to reach TLR Darkness level of popularity where you're a fan of the series or not.

Ah, alright.

180 wasn't that particularly interesting since it's just a info chapter. So being a bottom chapter this week makes sense.

Ah that. Yeah, not really an eventful chapter. Being that low though.

"Art is very weird","There's no plot whatsoever"... Is that even an argument?

Uratarou is indeed good though.

Still not a good sign to ranking near last this year with 180 or so chapters. Season 2 sold poorly and it was like average 800 copies (?) so that lowers the chance for season 3.

First season sold only roughly 2k copies and season 2 had a shorter run as a result. I truly worry for Soma's longevity in WSJ.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for Love Rush to get the boot since it's just not as interesting as Yuragi.

Maybe it's because I'm tired of monster girls, but it's just not that appealing as a romcom/harem series can go.

Shokugeki had 2 chapters in a row where it placed 12th place, then the following chapter first ranking. Yes I do know the quality is decreasing, but not to the point where it is hopeless like other series.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't Shokugeki a 10 pm Friday show and not prime time like Haikyuu or Boku no Hero Academia (6 pm sunday). Maybe less people got exposed to it?

The quality decreased, but it seems like it's evening out now. It's takoban sales are still in its normal range. So the series is in no danger of cancellation anytime soon.

Haikyuu is no longer a nichigo slot show (5 PM Sunday). It stopped after the first season and has been late-night since the second season. I think it airs at like 2 AM. Also, while being primetime helps, Soma's slot is known to also be a widely watched timeslot yet it still didn't really help give it a good boost.

On another note, the Japanese reaction to HeroAca over taking One Piece in the 8 week rankings is hilarious. Some people are amazed, some people believe its just editor pushing and some people cannot believe ( or rather accept) that One Piece has been overtaken. There are a lot of comments about how Jump has fallen, etc.

Oh man, now I'm really loving this. Just imagining the the tears of butthurt OP fans is pure orgasm to me. HeroAca deserves it's position more than anything imo. OP's time has passed, and now it's HeroAca's turn to bring Jump into a new era.

Very possible for Shokugeki to fall under category, "where it is hopeless like other series". Inconsistent rankings and reaching the bottom of the rankings are early signs of that. Also, not a lot of promise for new seasons of Soma unfortunately. Second season didn't even do half of the sales of the first season.

Sales is important but almost equally so are the rankings. It doesn't matter if sales are stable, if it ranks poorly it will get shoved to the side. WSJ is brutal and very competitive.

A new era as in being inferior to Naruto/One Piece in sales? OP's time hasn't passed, it's still going quite strong and has a successful anime to boot. Academia doesn't come anywhere near Naruto's sales or even it's anime success.

If anything Haikyuu!! is much worthy of leading this "new era", it's already near/passed million copies per volume. Now that's a series with a successful manga AND anime, something Academia can't brag about. :-)

Not yet..... But it will one day (at the very least, surpassing Naruto). Right now, all I can hope is that the 2nd season helps pull in new readers and literally blow up the sales sky high, because if that doesn't do it, then I can readily admit that OP will go on forever until Oda dies.

LOL Academia fans are so delusional.

It never will. I can promise you that it won't surpass Naruto as a franchise or in manga sales. There's a low chance of Academia S2 blowing up to the point where it surpasses Naruto, if the first season failed to do that.

Serious question; what is Academia's merchandise sales for this year? Has the figure come out yet or we have to wait till November?

You made some good points. Souma might become irrelevant in the next few years and people will call it an overrated series (like Toriko), or it will stay consistent and still be relevant.

As a fan, I hope it will stay relevant and be around in the next few years :3, and I also feel that Saeki Shun (tosh) is putting the series on his back. The art keeps getting better and better.

Wow, that rankings all over the place.

While I don't think Red Sprite is bad, it does lack a lot of substance atm. The fact it still has none after 7 chapters is a bad sign, and the first chapter has been the best so far, so I don't think it will rise drastically.
Neverland doing me proud.
Love Rush rose a bit. The series could go either way I feel. Not terrible, but not great.
Has Samon survived? It seems out of immediate danger for the moment.
Surprised Yuragi hasn't taken over BC in sales yet. I'm kind of annoyed Bc is always hogging the top spots of the TOC, it should be a middle tier series :/.

On Hero Aca, I can't see it ever reaching Naruto levels, or even Haikyuu for that. Sure the arcs in S2 will be sick, but I think it's missed its chance to grab that audience.

I wouldn't worry for Soma though. It's the 4th best selling series in the mag atm by quite a far margin. With Gintama and Toriko leaving soon, I don't think Jump can sacrifice any other 100k+ sellers. Considering they have 5 <50k sellers who have no sign of getting more popular and 5 series at <11 chapters starting next week, they need all they can get now. Yuna is the only non flop they've had in the last 18+ months. We'll see in December if any of the newbies hold up.
