Toei always had more budget for their late night and primetime shows compared to their kiddie shows. Kinda sucks they only seldom do a late night anime. Also, I thought Tiger Mask was part of their 60th anniversary?

I haven't been following Jump lately and I knew that Toriko was in decline, but I didn't know that it was that bad. Was it because of the anime loss, manga not being as good anymore or a combination of both ? I never read Toriko so I wouldn't know.
All of it.

Shuiesha? That's why it was frequently promoted along side Dragonball and One Piece? You honestly cannot say that wasn't the case because it was billed heavily alongside them. To deny this is hysterical because it was even pointed out in Japan forums how aggressive their campaign was for Toriko to be the next big thing and it got really sad because Toriko's sales were nowhere near as impressive as them and it was less popular than a plethora of titles that was still running in Jump at the time. The difference between how Jump is handling MHA and Toriko is like night and day, you're not seeing MHA doing crossovers with Naruto or they same type of aggressive campaigning towards it at most you just see Kishimoto naming the series Naruto's successor and making it grow on its own instead of trying to be something its not.
This is probably what they're doing with MHA but problem is, it's looking quite risky at the moment. Had they planned the anime's timing more calculatingly, MHA would be even more of a hit than it is now.

I believe toriko's movie was the last big push they tried. I mean, the covers, cps and then game releases etc etc with an ongoing anime that year. That year was supposed to be the biggest for toriko but the sales still declined. And ever since then, wsj hardly promoted it despite its ranks still holding up somewhat for the next year.
I don't see the promotion for mha being too much since its ranked number one this year more than other series.
Also, is it really stupid of wsj for wanting another dbz or one piece? They won't get it unless they try to force an already well received series down more people's throats.
Not at all. Business is business and I'm sure when One Piece and Naruto were hitting it big they pushed the shit out of them too. Biggest problem with Toriko is that it was middling series that gained momentum when it was paired with One Piece constantly in hopes that it would catch on with audiences by itself and it just never happened while MHA was a hit out the gate and has been growing at a steady rate by itself without trying to cross promote it or aggressively push it. Most of Toriko's hate came from how much Shuiesha pushed it when the manga itself is solid, I doubt anyone would give it such a hard time if it had not been or Shuiesha's campaign for it but at the same time you can't blame them for wanting another mainstream hit manga especially when you consider what series has graced the pages of Jump and why they're still relevant to this day.

I don't think that we'll ever get anything near One Piece/Dragon Ball levels of success this decade.

At least that's my take on it when looking at the newer series that debuted past AssClass.

The only thing we can know for certain is that none of the current Manga will reach such a level. But since WSJ axes its works on a regular level, there is always room for a new highly popular work to one day arrive, meaning that it can come at any point between next week and until WSJ bankrupts or something. In other words, it is completely unpredictable when we will get it.

There is no official statement from the people in charge of the Toriko anime that states that its on hiatus. There is no official statement that states that they plan to continue the Toriko anime. All official statements say that the Toriko anime ENDED/ was cancelled. The only people who keep saying its on hiatus are delusional fans. Every single time a Gintama season ends there's always a statement that it'll return at some point in the future and there was no such statement for Toriko once it ended. Its time for you to face facts that if a series ceased production years ago with no sides of returning back to air then its probably cancelled.
That's why DBZ Kai came back? People just assume something it's cancelled when it's ended. Gintama is different since it's expected to return a hell of a lot sooner than Toriko. I don't even think Toriko will get anything anime related for another 10 years or so.

Even the own network (Fuji TV) implied that it was more on hiatus than cancelled.

Not at all. Like I said numerous times; they never expected it to be the next Dragonball or One Piece. What suggests that they should assume that it would happen? Toriko's manga sales came no where near close to One Piece during their first volume releases.

One Piece's manga success prior to anime (Anime aired near the end of 1999):
1997, 1st year - 300k copies printed, 1 volume, 300k copies per volume! Note that 300k is the first print of volume 1, because it was released in 24 of December, a second print would be accounted in the next year.

1998, 2nd year - 6 Million copies printed, 6 volumes, 1 Million copies per volume.

1999, 3rd year - 17 Million copies printed, 11 volumes, 1.55 Million copies per volume.

You see how huge the difference between the two is? With a straight face can you really say that Shueisha was expecting Toriko to reach those heights of One Piece/Naruto/DBZ that were selling millions of copies PRIOR to their anime? That's almost 10 times of what Toriko has done. There's very little to no evidence that Toriko had potential to become like One Piece or DBZ; so with that in mind you believe Shuiesha still went with that chance? LOL.

You shouldn't be assuming that they were expecting Toriko to be the next Dragon Ball or One Piece over like 2 or 3 crossovers.

Your assumptions have little support to back them up!

That doesn't make sense and would be unethical to cancel a series within its first year given the amount of time and effort they put into selling it. They gave it three years to sell it it by its second year it was obvious that people wasn't biting. Also Toei makes lots of stupid decisions, Jesus Christ! DBZ Kai? Sailor Moon Crystal? Majin Bone? Look what they tried to do with Saint Seiya and how it blew up in their faces. Ever seen how the One Piece anime lately? You give them far too much leniency when they don't deserve it and the very fact that had to bring back DBZ Kai to fill in Toriko's slot is proof enough that it did badly because DBZ Kai was an admitted failure for them in Japan.
Lmfao, do you even know what unethical means? Does Toei commit some sort of sin by ending an anime within a year? Nope lol. If it was a huge burden on Toei's part then they could've ended the series within it's first year or two at the absolute most. It was more than obvious from the first few episodes of Toriko that the TV ratings were never going to reach/surpass Dragon Ball or One Piece level. If we went accepted your delusional assumptions that Toei/Shueisha were expecting Toriko to surpass DBZ/OP then they would've pulled the plug rather than holding onto a burden for that long.

Those, "stupid decisions" are the reason why Toei is the biggest anime company in Japan, right? They've done so much good with One Piece & Dragon Ball.

Neither DBZ Kai or Toriko failed.

Such a great investment that it was cancelled after three years and its net worth profit was worth so much that they've done absolutely nothing with the property since the anime ended. I mean at least Bleach had that successful mobage game after its respective anime ended but Toriko has gotten nothing despite the fact that it had a timeskip and its near its conclusion and not a hint of a return. Yep this just shows how much that property meant to them.
That's because Toei had better options! The prime one being Dragon Ball. Toei has far more successful properties than Pierrot so that example isn't relevantly similar. If Toei had Bleach and assuming it did just as successful as the Pierrot version, they wouldn't even bother touching it.

Bleach's peak in TV ratings was Toriko's average in TV ratings, lmfao.

It didn't do "well". Its sales started slip from the previous year and the merch sales were already not meeting expectations (Gourmet Battles was a flop). Also you may want to actually look at its ratings numbers instead of it being ranked in the top percentile, it was ranked because of its timeslot being shared alongside One Piece but its ratings was a steep down from DBZ Kai a show deemed a failure so the people that tuned in were either waiting for One Piece to come on (hence the jump) or weren't making up a significant share left from Kai.
It did do well. I fail to see how getting 5-7% TV ratings consistently isn't doing well. While timeslots do help but they don't guarantee anime success, especially on a consistent basis. Just look at poorly Academia has done in TV ratings compared to the other animes that occupied it's prime timeslot.

Nichigo slot Ratings(Only for manga series)

*3.69% Nanatsu no Taizai
*3.50% Magi
*3.04% Arslan Senki
*2.93% Blue Exorcist
*2.73% Hakyuu
*2.66% Magi S2
*2.45% Boku no hero Academia
*2.15% Arslan Senki 2nd Season
*2.00% Nanatsu no Taizai Special

It was even doing like 1.9% at it's starting point. It was abysmal for it's start. The peak I believe was NNT's finale which had like 5%-ish rating.

Because that was the series premiere and a double billing which occupied the One Piece timeslot, the second one that aired a year later scored even less and the last one with Dragonball scored lesser than that which means that Toriko was actually the weak link carrying it down.
Again, if it was such a burden for Toei since it failed to meet their expectations (in your delusional world), then it wouldn't have ran for 3 years. If you're going to at least try to troll at least make it less obvious. My point still stands and none of your rebuttals are doing anything.

I was too and no it wasn't doing exceptional at all before they started promoting it alongside One Piece even Nura was regularly beating it in the rankings.
Didn't seem like it.

Nura wasn't regularly beating Toriko in the rankings at all. At one point Nura was consistently ranking near the bottom during 2009. Anymore nonsense statements from you? LOL.

So you're saying that Toei is the only one that makes these crossovers and that the thought of anime crossovers have never come to mind before then yet Toriko is an exception because its somehow just as popular as DBZ and One Piece to be given a crossover with it and its not at all a marketing ploy to push Toriko but just something they made to celebrate its "popularity" when Naruto never had one because it was already super popular? Okay
Nope. Why would you even bring up the question of why Naruto or One Piece never got a crossover together? They're made from two different companies which are in competitions with each other.

I never said Toriko is somehow just as popular as DBZ/One Piece. I said it got those crossovers due to how popular it was in the magazine, Mitsutoshi's contribution to the magazine and his friendship with Oda. You could also add in that it was part of the same block and they're similar too. So it wasn't just a single reasons but many!

Yep. Not denying that his last series wasn't a huge success but you'd be hard pressed to convince anyone that Toriko didn't survive largely due to Shuiesha banking on its potential as the next big thing with help from One Piece ESPECIALLY with how its doing right now in its last arc in terms of ratings and sales. So what's going to be your excuse now? As a reader I can damn well tell you that this arc isn't bad enough to be consistently at the bottom of the polls ala Bleach.
Toriko has Toei to thank for it's survival but at the same time it was already ranking well. So it's not like it had to thank Shuiesha for the majority for it's survival. Obviously, the mangaka played more of a role since the quality was great and was the reason why it kept it's fanbase up for so long.

Trust me, you don't want to know what Japan really thinks about Toriko after this whole debacle. It's going to be remembered as a blunder alright. A canceled anime with several failed attempts at trying to market it as a pillar for Jump alongside Naruto and One Piece and now in its current arc it sits at the bottom of the polls getting beaten by series that didn't have anywhere near the same push or expectations on them and Shueisha is obviously taking this lesson to heart given how overly cautious they've been towards marketing their successful titles nowadays. Its going to be seen as a blunder to many people even though by all accounts its a solid series that did well for itself through its run
Nope. How can it possibly be remembered as a blunder if it made it into the top 5 manga sales during it's anime premiere and more importantly had millions of viewers tuning in each week? I don't think you grasp the idea of the, "product cycle"; all products have their decline stage (more so than others) so seeing Toriko or any series decline after a while isn't a surprise.

Yeah which is why it got cancelled. You're still acting as if people care about ratings (which weren't even that good) from years ago when the bottom line is simple. Is Toriko still on TV? No. Are they any plans for Toriko to come back? No. And what are Toriko's current sales and rankings are? But I've said enough the evidence is clear and you just have a hard time accepting this fact.
Hmmm...that's why Bleach ended right? Over it's abysmal ratings? It had like 2% ratings near it's end. That's an all time low. Why would there be current plans of Toriko coming back when Toei has major titles to reboot like Slam Dunk, Dr.Slump, Sailor Moon & now DBZ. I never said Toriko will return soon; in the long term, yes it's possible.

I'm not denying Toriko's at a huge decline in sales and rankings. LOL you're not telling me anything new here.

Yes...their successful franchise in which Toriko ain't. If they wanted to reboot Kinnikuman they would have done so years ago with the manga continuing or hell even years before than with the Tag Team Dream matches of Nisei but since that series failed they don't want to touch it but hell if Tiger Mask can get a new anime after many years I suppose anything is possible.
Maybe Kinnikuman wasn't the best example but I had Tiger Mask's recent anime in mind so it's possible for that to come back too.

Yes decline is expected especially after losing an anime (just look at Bleach) but its relative threshold has decreased since its peak.

I've seen nothing in regards to Toriko being on hiatus and you've failed to provide evidence on everything you said. Anyone with half a brain can see what Shuiesha was trying to do with Toriko and to see it blow up in their face is a sight to behold given all the cover spreads and cross promotion it garnered. One thing you cannot try to spin in your favor is its sales and rankings which are very much reflective of how much people actually do care about Toriko and how popular it truly is but I can already see you're planning to make a rebuttal anyways.
Really? The own network wished for another run.
http://toriko.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:40221

Sadly I can't even find the other comments that Fuji TV/Toei had about Toriko's end. Nothing implied it was cancelled. Why would Toei even go out of their way to "cancel" a franchise? They won't. A reboot is possible, sure obviously not now but there is a chance in the future.

This happens with any Jump battle series that gets active Edited Mangas early on.
People aren't going to be discussing series they can't read, yet since a lot of Jump series don't get actively scanlated till after they prove success in the rankings (My Hero Academia is an example) or not until after they're cancelled (Yoakemono) the discussion simply can't be there on these western sites during the series infancy.

Red Sprite has a "fanbase" for the same reasons Iron Knight, Hungry Joker, Kiruko-san, and Stealth Symphony did, and why Mutou Black, Kurokuroko, Hachi, Kagamigami (in fact, I'm sure that if Kagamigami had active Edited Mangas and/or was picked up by WSJ, English speakers would have never shut up about its cancellation) did not.
Active Edited Mangas.

Lol wouldn't call myself a fan, just think it's decent and wouldn't be surprised if it rose in rankings week 3. There's just ppl who love it or think its decent that don't wish for its demise like some people do on here. Nothing wrong with rooting for something to improve

That's why DBZ Kai came back? People just assume something it's cancelled when it's ended. Gintama is different since it's expected to return a hell of a lot sooner than Toriko. I don't even think Toriko will get anything anime related for another 10 years or so.
DBZ Kai came back to fill in the slot It makes no sense to bring back what was infamously known for being a failure in Japan unless Toriko did really bad and was unceremoniously cancelled. That's really irrelevant, Gintama has proven to be a huge money maker for Shuiesha given the sales of the anime and the movie while Toriko did poorly in both regards.

Even the own network (Fuji TV) implied that it was more on hiatus than cancelled.
Then please just give me an official source stating that. Hell Bleach fans continue to use that outdated tweet stating that it was among its highest rated shows according to the producer, that's something just show me evidence that states that Toriko is on hiatus.

Not at all. Like I said numerous times; they never expected it to be the next Dragonball or One Piece.

Then why advertise them together? It had nothing to do with Oda being friends Mitsutoshi they were banking on the audiences carrying over to one another to increase sales because Toriko embedded the same adventure aspect of One Piece and Dragonball. This is what they wanted or else it just wouldn't make sense to put a middling series against two giants.

Its called looking at potential and using it to increase sales, to say that every series in Jump is a hit out the gate is really silly since freaking Bleach gained momentum solely because Jump pushed it along with a slew of other titles. Obviously Jump saw potential in Toriko and wanted to capitalize on it. Nobody ever said that they expected Toriko to gain the same level of sales HOWEVER they did wanted another mainstream hit in the same vain.

You shouldn't be assuming that they were expecting Toriko to be the next Dragon Ball or One Piece over like 2 or 3 crossovers.
So why have it appear in those crossovers?

Your assumptions have little support to back them up!
So why have it promoted alongside them if it wasn't the same level of sales?

Lmfao, do you even know what unethical means? Does Toei commit some sort of sin by ending an anime within a year? Nope lol. If it was a huge burden on Toei's part then they could've ended the series within it's first year or two at the absolute most. If we went accepted your delusional assumptions that Toei/Shueisha were expecting Toriko to surpass DBZ/OP then they would've pulled the plug rather than holding onto a burden for that long.
Bruh, cancelling an anime isn't simple hence why it rarely happens. A lot of money gets invested into the conception and promotions and also they're not stupid enough to expect a show to meet its expectation within its first year and for the last time NOBODY IS SAYING THAT TORIKO WAS MEANT TO SURPASS BOTH but they expected it to gain the same audience share as both which is more feasible or else WHY WOULD TORIKO BE PUSHED ON THE SAME TIMESLOT AS DBZ KAI FOLLOWING ONE PIECE IF THEY DID NOT EXPECT IT TO HAVE THE SAME LEVEL OF SUCCESS. So you're trying to say that Toei just blindly put a middling series on primetime for no reason whatsoever? Because you seem to not "get" what their intentions were even with all the evidence around you.

Those, "stupid decisions" are the reason why Toei is the biggest anime company in Japan, right? They've done so much good with One Piece & Dragon Ball.
Their the biggest company because they hold a share of the most profitable franchises in Japan which doesn't negate the fact that all those shows I mentioned were failures on certain levels. The One Piece anime looks incredibly poor nowadays due to the lack of care being put into it.

Neither DBZ Kai or Toriko failed.
They were. DBZ Kai got low ratings for its slot and merch sales for it were dismal it was saved largely due to the international market where it did better. The very fact that it took three years to bring it back to do the Buu arc of all things is proof of that because it was canned to make room for Toriko which did even worse.

That's because Toei had better options!
The prime one being Dragon Ball. Toei has far more successful properties than Pierrot so that example isn't relevantly similar. If Toei had Bleach and assuming it did just as successful as the Pierrot version, they wouldn't even bother touching it.
Just so you know you're proving my point and yet you continue to say it didn't fail. So basically Toriko was so unprofitable that a Bleach mobage is more successful at the moment? Gotcha.
Bleach's peak in TV ratings was Toriko's average in TV ratings, lmfao.
Different timeslots brah. Bleach aired Wednesday evenings and did well for its timeslot for its first few years while Toriko aired on primetime and did poorly for its timeslot. Not particularly applicable.

When you're airing on a timeslot that usually gets an 8-9% share of audiences (at least circa 2011) then yeah its not doing well and Toriko regularly got 5% its highest ratings was an 8% which was for its crossover episode with One Piece that it premiered with and of course the big kicker here is IF TORIKO DID SO WELL WHY IS IT NOT STILL ON THE AIR. That is a very simple question that you have failed to answer over and over again which leads me to believe that you refuse to admit that it was just cancelled. Nichigo isn't a primetime slot also it has a much lower audience share than Dream 7 (Toriko and One Piece) roughly around 2%-4% with its highest rated show being Gundam 00 S2 with a 4% audience share and its lowest rated show being Star Driver with a 1.9%. Not really proving how "poorly" it did when the two shows that followed did even worse than it which much lower episode numbers.

Again, if it was such a burden for Toei since it failed to meet their expectations (in your delusional world), then it wouldn't have ran for 3 years. If you're going to at least try to troll at least make it less obvious. My point still stands and none of your rebuttals are doing anything.
Why is it not on TV then? Where is your evidence that's its on hiatus then? We're all waiting for you to answer these questions that you continue to dodge

Didn't seem like it.

Nura wasn't regularly beating Toriko in the rankings at all. At one point Nura was consistently ranking near the bottom during 2009. Anymore nonsense statements from you? LOL.
It was. Nura had a better mean ranking score than Toriko during that period before it became a bottom dweller in its last two years. Toriko started to grow once the One Piece campaign billing started to bear fangs around 2010 were its ratings started to increase.

Nope. Why would you even bring up the question of why Naruto or One Piece never got a crossover together? They're made from two different companies which are in competitions with each other.

Uh...both Naruto and One Piece are Shuiesha they own the properties and can do whatever they want with the likeness of the characters Pierrot and Toei just animate them they don't own those properties and before you say something stupid like different studios can't do crossovers with one another the Gintama x Sket Dance crossover were animated by Sunrise (Gintama version) and Tatsunoko (Sket Dance version). Do yourself a favor and stop embarrassing yourself already.

Except it wasn't even that popular. Naruto, Bleach, AssClass, and a plethora of other titles were more popular that Toriko, it was serialized during a time period where volume sales for Shuiesha series were at an all time high (2004 to 2012) and Toriko was still among the middle lower end of the spectrum in terms of both sales and rankings and no you don't get multiple crossovers, cover space and promotion by being friends or having a similar premise, Shuiesha knew what they wanted with Toriko they did not pair it with One Piece on the whim like you can't implying they wanted it to be another mainstream hit and once it failed to meet those expectations it got shoved to the back. So did Oda and Mitsutoshi stopped being friends all of a sudden? Is that going to be your execus as to why its not being pushed heavily anymore?

Toriko has Toei to thank for it's survival but at the same time it was already ranking well. So it's not like it had to thank Shuiesha for the majority for it's survival. Obviously, the mangaka played more of a role since the quality was great and was the reason why it kept it's fanbase up for so long.
Nope it has Shueshia to thank for actually seeing potential in it rather than ignoring it because it never would have gotten an anime adaptation if Shuiesha didn't give the go and see its marketing potential.

Well neither of that is true.

Toriko at its peak didn't even make it into the top 10 and was still getting beat by newer titles (AssClass) and the fact still remains that its not on TV anymore. That alone just destroys your argument. Declines are nature but once the backlog sales stopped flowing in Toriko had a steadfast fall with nothing to sustain its likeness because it didn't do well in merch either.

You really do keep flip flopping. First you keep saying that Toriko is on hiatus which implies that they do have plans to bring it back soon and now you're saying that they don't have plans to bring it back which most definitely does mean its cancelled since there's more important things to focus on the hoizon. But hey your logic dictates that Saint Seiya was never cancelled and just on a 20 year hiatus before they decided to animate those last few arcs, who knows maybe we are getting a Slam Dunk continuation down the pipeline too. If there's no reason to bring back something how is there a possibility for its return?

I'm not denying Toriko's at a huge decline in sales and rankings. LOL you're not telling me anything new here.
Yet you're saying that Shuiesha at no point pushed it to be a big hit. Okay.

Maybe Kinnikuman wasn't the best example but I had Tiger Mask's recent anime in mind so it's possible for that to come back too.
I think vampire killer already stated that Tiger Mask is just a special occasion sort of deal and that Toei would have never touched on that prospect of not for personal sponsorship.

Really? The own network wished for another run.

So the people who worked on Toriko want a continuation? What a shocker. Still not saying anything in regards to be on hiatus just wishful thinking

Sadly I can't even find the other comments that Fuji TV/Toei had about Toriko's end. Nothing implied it was cancelled. Why would Toei even go out of their way to "cancel" a franchise? They won't. A reboot is possible, sure obviously not now but there is a chance in the future.
Well its not airing now. There's no plans to continue it in the near future. It didn't complete the manga's storyline (in fact it made several changes in the last episode from the manga). So it obviously means its on hiatus! Toei does this shit all the time. They cancelled GT, they cancelled Slam Dunk, they cancelled Saint Seiya (then came back years later to do those shitty OVAs) They canceled that shitty Dr.Slump remake, etc. Does it mean they're done with Toriko for good? Not really since they still have the rights but with One Piece, Precure, DBZ Super and hell even World Trigger on the horizon why would they need to go back to Toriko?

DBZ Kai came back to fill in the slot It makes no sense to bring back what was infamously known for being a failure in Japan unless Toriko did really bad and was unceremoniously cancelled. That's really irrelevant, Gintama has proven to be a huge money maker for Shuiesha given the sales of the anime and the movie while Toriko did poorly in both regards.
It's funny because people were saying the same thing about DBZ Kai when Toriko started then it came back. DBZ Kai was never cancelled, that's the point. It has to be doing very poorly to be considered cancelled. A series getting 5% TV ratings near it's end isn't considered very poorly.

Then please just give me an official source stating that. Hell Bleach fans continue to use that outdated tweet stating that it was among its highest rated shows according to the producer, that's something just show me evidence that states that Toriko is on hiatus.
Check the Toriko wiki link I gave you...there were other sources too but that's all I can find. Fuji TV wanted a return and believe it'll most definitely happen, although that was at a time where Toriko wasn't declining a lot like it is now.

Expecting an entire audience to transfer over with crossovers isn't happening. Why do you keep assuming that they had the same unreasonable expectation as you did?

Its called looking at potential and using it to increase sales, to say that every series in Jump is a hit out the gate is really silly since freaking Bleach gained momentum solely because Jump pushed it along with a slew of other titles. Obviously Jump saw potential in Toriko and wanted to capitalize on it. Nobody ever said that they expected Toriko to gain the same level of sales HOWEVER they did wanted another mainstream hit in the same vain.
It's not difficult to determine estimates. There was no potential in it being anywhere close to DBZ/One Piece. Ofc they saw potential in Toriko but not to the extent of coming close to DBZ/One Piece. It got it's crossover because with One Piece since Oda & Shima were good friends and Toriko was already doing well in the magazine.

So why have it appear in those crossovers?
So why have it promoted alongside them if it wasn't the same level of sales?
I already told you the reasons & Rica Pita explained them for the most part too. Go refer to our posts.

And? My point still stands; it wasn't expected to reach the success. I said reach and surpass. Why? We keep telling you. Mitsutoshi had a great contribution to the magazine & he was good friends with Oda. Hence why Toriko got both manga & anime crossovers with One Piece. It wasn't that they expected to reach a same level of success.

I'm not going to pull out all the rankings obviously but let's take a look at where Toriko was standing in it's first 3 episodes compared to One Piece in terms of ratings, yes? LOL

[I'm going to ignore the first episode since it was a crossover and just compare the start of Toriko's canon material (episode 2 technically)]
One Piece - 9,7% -> 10.2% -> 10.3%...etc
Toriko - 7.9% -> 6.7% -> 7.7%....etc

You see the difference from the start? It continues this pattern throughout the entire run. The whole idea of Toei/Shueisha expecting Toriko to have the same level of success as One Piece is nonsense and very little going for it. Remember, by saying that it would mean investors would have that expectation too and since it never met that "expectation" it would've gotten canned early but it obviously didn't. It lasted for 3 years.

Also remember that DBZ Kai was doing around 9% before the anime went on hiatus to make room for Toriko. So clearly Toriko was doing less than both One Piece & DBZ Kai from the start. You can't just expect a new series to reach the same level of success of the most successful franchises in the industry. It's unrealistic and like I've said numerous times; if they had such a strong expectation for Toriko then it would've ended a lot sooner since it's peak couldn't even match One Piece or DBZ Kai. One Piece & DBZ level of success are literally one of a kind, it's not something you can fabricate.

Their the biggest company because they hold a share of the most profitable franchises in Japan which doesn't negate the fact that all those shows I mentioned were failures on certain levels. The One Piece anime looks incredibly poor nowadays due to the lack of care being put into it.
Here we go lol. I'm not concerned in the slightest of our opinion on how the series are but their success. So bringing up, "the one piece anime looks bad", isn't going to do anything.

They were. DBZ Kai got low ratings for its slot and merch sales for it were dismal it was saved largely due to the international market where it did better. The very fact that it took three years to bring it back to do the Buu arc of all things is proof of that because it was canned to make room for Toriko which did even worse.
Psh, yeah getting 9-10% TV ratings is so low ratings.

Just so you know you're proving my point and yet you continue to say it didn't fail. So basically Toriko was so unprofitable that a Bleach mobage is more successful at the moment? Gotcha.
For what? Toei having better options? Right, with your logic it means that just because Toei has better options it means that Toriko failed? Get real. Toei has titles that were doing incredibly well in rankings before to work with, which is DBZ.

I already told you why Toriko got it's crossovers/timeslot but you still insist that Shueisha/Toei was planning on getting a series on the level of success as One Piece. There's very little to no evidence to support that. It offers too high of a risk and from the first year it was more than obvious it couldn't reach that level of success. As if the first cour didn't tell us that.

Different timeslots brah. Bleach aired Wednesday evenings and did well for its timeslot for its first few years while Toriko aired on primetime and did poorly for its timeslot. Not particularly applicable.
That's not the point brah. Getting below 2% isn't well...SS arc got 5% and that was it's all time peak.

Well Toriko got around 6% in it's first year as a average, close to 7%. Where did you get that info that timeslots usually get 8-9% on that timeslot and who ever said it was guaranteed?

I failed to answer that? I clearly told you that Toei had better option which was to bring DBZ back. Remember, for you to assume that it failed then that would mean Toei had the expectation of it to replace DBZ Kai which was obvious from the start that it was never going to happen. DBZ Kai was getting around 9%-11% TV ratings prior to Toriko's premiere.

Why is it not on TV then? Where is your evidence that's its on hiatus then? We're all waiting for you to answer these questions that you continue to dodge
I already told you numerous times. It's not on TV since Dragon Ball took over. There's no statement that Toei cancelled it or had plans to. Fuji TV even implied for wanting another return; same goes for the staff. You should check out the link I sent instead of just focusing on what the voice actors said. But those are still important.

It was. Nura had a better mean ranking score than Toriko during that period before it became a bottom dweller in its last two years. Toriko started to grow once the One Piece campaign billing started to bear fangs around 2010 were its ratings started to increase.
Toriko was ranking better than Nura when it started.

One Piece & Naruto were rivals. Why would they do a crossover? Both series had little similarities in comparison to Toriko & One Piece.

LOL Wasn't even that popular, huh? I'm talking about it's rankings obviously so don't even try to reach for it's sales as a form of rebuttal.

Average rankings
2008 -> 3.65
2009 -> 5.28

I'm not going to do 2010 since you already accepted that it did well. Interesting data. So getting #3 or #5 spot isn't popular? Add to the mix that Mitsutoshi was very good friends with Oda & that his previous series was a huge success is where you have the bulk of the reasons why the crossover happened in the first place.

Obviously, it's not getting promotions anymore because it already got enough and it's declined a lot to the point where it ranks poorly in the magazine. I already told you that Toei/Shueisha did promote/advertise Toriko a lot.

Nope it has Shueshia to thank for actually seeing potential in it rather than ignoring it because it never would have gotten an anime adaptation if Shuiesha didn't give the go and see its marketing potential.
If you want to go that far back sure but I doubt any other studio could've handled Toriko as well as Toei did in terms of success.

Well neither of that is true.

Toriko at its peak didn't even make it into the top 10 and was still getting beat by newer titles (AssClass) and the fact still remains that its not on TV anymore. Anime Premiere Year (It was in the top 5 manga sales) -> http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-11-30/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-series/2011

We already established that it had around 5-7% at any given time for almost all epiosdes. So those are millions of people viewing each week.

A hiatus doesn't imply they have to bring it soon, perhaps the better term is indefinite, a indefinite hiatus but it could return one day.

Yet you're saying that Shuiesha at no point pushed it to be a big hit. Okay.
They most definitely did push Toriko more than other series but not with the expectation of it being on the same level of One Piece or DBZ.

I think vampire killer already stated that Tiger Mask is just a special occasion sort of deal and that Toei would have never touched on that prospect of not for personal sponsorship.

Why would that be a shocker? If it flopped and the studio accepted that; then there would be little reason for them wanting it to come back. Either way if you looked there was a statement from Fuji TV Network. I'm not sure if the link is broken but the quote was definitely saved. You never know that there's no plans for it to come in the near future. Neither you nor I know that for sure. All I'm saying that there's a possibility of it returning, regardless of how small it is.

It's better to assume something is put on hiatus than cancelled, especially with a studio like Toei and a successful title like Toriko. That's all I'm saying.
