That's the first time WT got first place, isn't it? I remember a interview with the old editor Hatori (I think that was his name?) where he said WT got a couple times first place but it wasn't shown in the polls or something like that.
I count it as a 2nd place, but yeah, this is its highest rank anyway.

Also, two things about this issue:
-Toriko wasn't top 5 since December 2015.
-First time Souma is in the bottom for 3 issues in a row.

Whatever happened with the 2015 Golden Future Cup? Any sports stuff? I feel like we should have at least seen the winner by now.

Though the first half of 2016 didn't have much chances to start new series so perhaps they've just built up a backlog and haven't got around to it yet.

The winner was the shitty furry battle manga whose name always escapes me. Genjui Toteku I think.
It'll probably be serialized next round.

But nah, no sports manga. A lot of series competed in the GFC last year.
Galaxy Gangs should have won. At least still it'll probably still get serialized at some point, probably next year.

I’ve also seen Hinomaru Sumo readers saying it’s nearing it’s end soon and if both Sumo and Dance Midgets end then that would leave Haikyuu as the only sports manga in the magazine. I thought Haikyuu would end around 2019 but after the youth training camp and after many new characters were being set up for the second year, I am starting to believe that there is a chance that it could possibly go all the way past the first year. Approximately since 2005 Jump has released at least 1 sports manga each year, they published 4 in both 2014 and 2015.
Well by soon for Hinomaru were talking like 30 chapters or so, could be more. This current tournament still has a ways to go, then a training arc and All Japan.

I reckon Haikyuu may go through to their end of third year, theyve introduced enough characters and its super popular. Pllus it doesnt have a clear cut goal like something like Kuroko had.

Looks like Red Sprite is losing it fast. Happy to see Neverland do so well, really wanna see how the kids will try to find their "promised Neverland" in the Demon World outside once they escape.
It got first place a few times but its seldom ever counted in the rankings due to the author's frequent hiatuses because of ACTUAL health reasons (unlike Togashi) so its quite a rarity and it just so happens that the chapter ranked was really cool so kudos to it since it always feels like it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Who the fuck are you to say Togashi doesn't have actual health issues?
Togashi is known to struggle from both severe back pain and depression.
Both can be absolutely crippling even if it doesn't quite appear so to those gazing from a distance.

Togashi was thinking of retiring after writing Yuyu Hakusho because of stress.
His letter was very depressive.
Even after all the back pains he continued to write, even after those scribble chapters even after all the excruciating pain, he carried on.
Only for people in the internet to call him names just because he went to that Kochikame party.
If you hate the guy or his ethic, don't read his manga.
But don't talk shit about the guy.

Togashi have problem , all people know that , but don't act like he's a mesias who do it because he love the children smile.
He can end HxH and do series like Level E who is more suited in his state, but he doesn't , maybe because he like that world so much that he want continue it after the moment he may was stop writing it (election arc) or because is easy money.
And I think people exagerated the situation of togashi to defend him.
PD:Don't care about togashi's heath except if he's between the life and death.

Togashi could hardly give a shit about the money.
Him and Naoko are two of the most popular mangaka in history. They're fucking household names.
Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, and Sailor Moon have worldwide name recognition. They have all the money they can want.

Not an overdefensive fanboy who would excuse frequent 2 year hiatus whereas people like Oda who was FORCED to take a break now due to health issues yet still dishes out chapters on a regular basis and people like Tetsuo who is blind in one eye yet is still doing work to this day.

The difference in treatment that Shueisha gives to their author is what irritates me more in all this situation. It is clear that Togashi is not physically not mentally suitable for the job, so why not end the series at once? Answer: because it sells 1 million copies.
If it were an author who was just beginning they would just cut the series out and that's it. I don't agree with long hiatuses for whatever reason, it is a job like any other and any job requires the minimum of health. If the author is not sick and is just messing around, all the more reason to cancel the thing.

His plight is a lot less sympathetic when they're are people in the business with more severe health concerns still doing work on a regular basis. Its fine if you like Togashi but he has been known to have piss poor work ethic even during his YYH days and before he just outright stopped trying with HxH, don't make excuses for him like he's the only mangaka to have these issues.

Togashi has always had a poor work effort but his series have always brought him through where most mangaka would have gotten fired already in his position. The mangaka for Stop Hibari-kun pretty much admitted that his laziness rummed off to Togashi but while he was fired for not being able to keep up with Weekly Togashi stayed on due to the popularity of his works. It sucks but its not like he's a hack or anything I just don't feel a 2 year hiatus for "back trouble" versus Hoshino having to stop doing weekly to monthly to annually due to her wrist trouble isn't something to compare.

Mangaka (and comic book writer) are very well paid, only a few one are rich, and I don't think have money is a impediment to want more money

Funny thing, they do that in the past, Kimagure orange road was THE manga in the 80s , Izumi create the "teen bible" and if you see the sales they was selling like donut, but they finish it because Izumi have a delicate health
I think with togashi they need to cut it before the situation become worse , let him finish it and if he want began his crazy 3 or 4 volume series in young jump or Jump SQ.

The thing about HxH is that while its a top seller its not going to effect Jump if it ends since its barely serialized in the magazine and doesn't have a slew of new merch every year due to the anime ending so it really doesn't need to end right away in fact given how the story is set it can pretty much go on forever or just end the next issue. From recent interviews it seems like Togashi is well aware that he ain't no spring chicken and has at least made steps towards in improving the series release schedule plus with his interest in making a card battle manga in the future he may have sights on ending it in the near future.

looks like its time to start wrapping up Food Wars. Food got stale.

Clearly Hyuse x Yuma is doing wonders for world trigger. Hyuse has been the best thing ever to the manga.

Clinical depression is hell of a illness, it can be more crippling than most physical impairments. Most people wouldn't understand unless they've actually been through it. And no, I'm not talking about the time your dog died and you felt sad for a week.

Togashi should prioritize his health over anything else, even if it meant him retiring and never finishing Hunter x Hunter.

Hyuse doesn't appeared in the chapter ranked and Yuma barely appeared m8
It was the chapter that Chika troll one guy with the jump and osamu defeated him or the chapter than Osamu was defeated and Chika escape.

Good bye Monster Musume Lite and Sprite, you won't be missed.

I just wish they can quickly wrap up the last fight for Toirko already. Though I can't expect much for the "Majin Buu" of the series.

Well, we should be getting Kempa Trick by the end of this year, early next year.
I never managed to find that one shot but I would like a handball manga it should be more entertaining than Kendo and Baseball.

A football manga will always be destined to fail, out of the 7-9 football manga to be serialized in Jump 2 made it and I doubt more will, “Captain Tsubasa” which if I’m not mistaken is the 5th most successful sports manga in Jump and “Whistle” which ran from 1998 to 2002 sold around 11 million. Dumb thought, but I wonder if a manga about women’s football would make a difference, but it probably won’t be taken seriously and with Jump’s demographic I doubt it would succeed even if they went Keijo level of ecchi with it.

That Kochikame x Beelzebub special made me remember how much I missed Tamura Ryuhei. Made me dream about how amazing it would be if Tamura made an outlandish fantasy wrestling manga, it would work with his comedy.

Of all the mangaka that could possibly put out a series in Jump next year, I think the most likely to have a lasting success are; Kei Monri, Shibata Yousaku, Itsuki Furuya and Moue Takamasa,

As much as I love Tamura, I worry his next series might get cancelled early, albeit probably pimped liked Illegal Rare was.

I have a feeling we might see Yu Miki, Daijiro Nonoue, and Naoki Iwamoto come back as well, but I'm not sure if they'll make it with their new series either.
