Oh, thank you, I'm really happy to hear that :amuse

Yeah, the wiping out has been really harsh. Shachi and Yoshitoki in particular were treated like common fodder.
Speaking of Yoshitoki death and since you touch upon in my thread what do you think of the portrayal of V?

I must say that I spected a lot more from Yoshitoki, even more after revealing his ghoul nature. At least we know Tsuneyoshi is more dangerous but Yoshi being killed like that did not bring a good impression over the Washuu, the "Final boss".

Anyway, putting the leaders aside we cannot judge V`s power just because some agents that faced Eto were "fodderized" (if some black suit guys took down the One-Eyed Owl I would rage quit) :xp.
We have to remember that V has ghouls in its lines too, Kuzen being one of them and he had to run away when he was a topclass ghoul.
Does V have more "Arimas" and powerful ghouls in its lines? I think that has to be true because if its not the whole plan of Arima to bring a proper King would be so pointless... and I dont think Ishida would let such a plot hole slip like that.

Eto falling against Furuta didn`t seem that bad for me, after all he is a One-eyed superhuman hybrid with suppahyped Rize`s kagune! :derp
I just want a good explanation of how he got in the clown gang without being a ghoul (?) and when did he pass the surgery.

They probably do since Furuta was afraid the "higher-ups" would wipe him out if they found out he's a half ghoul.

Since we know now that Garden children have Rc cell levels of normal ghouls, we can assume Furuta used to smell like a ghoul even before his surgery, but if that's the case I wonder why we never got dialogue from characters like Haise or other ghouls about how the Washuu and people from the garden smelled funny.

I'm not really fond of secret societies controlling the world from the shadows, meeting in huge underground buildings with enormous gates and V letters on the floor, but other than that, we've only seen them barking rather than biting. The only people we've seen something from are members who ended up being traitors, meaning Arima, Furuta and Kuzen. The "Special Class-level V agents" in Cochlea were just standing there for Eto to literally stomp on them, Yoshitoki died off-screen without looking like he put up much of a fight, and that's it.

In summary, a lot has been told about their terrifying power, but only the contrary has been shown. Which means we have to trust the author's words rather than being convinced by what he's presented us, which is not good in my book. Besides, having the most powerful, undefeated characters being unwilling to go against V makes me afraid of seeing the trope in which "the new bad guys are the real bad guys, and they're even more powerful than the previous most powerful guys" being what Ishida is going for.

The thing is, V doesn't need to have great individuals to be powerful and the true power doesn't necessary means to have physical strength.
I already said it before, Furuta explained it very well. V's power resides, for what we know, in manipulation. They make humans (CCG) work for them and until now that's all they needed in order to rule over Japan (and probably the whole world), they also manipulate the media and the mass by misleading them about the ghouls.
I really believe that this kind of power is much more fearsome than brute strength, otherwise, Arima could have become the king of the world already. That's why he needed to make people think that Kaneki killed him, to federate and create a counter-power (not sure if it's correct ?) to fight the powerful conglomerate.

Fights take an important part in Tokyo Ghoul, but that's not everything. In my opinion, the main vilain doesn't need to be "strong". On the contrary, it would be even better if it wasn't the case. Having a bigger "army" and better weapons is already more than enough.

Sure, but that has never been shown either. If that's where their true power resides, why didn't Arima and Eto take the fight on that battlefield? They seemed to know quite a lot on how V is manipulating the world, Takatsuki's revelations have caused quite the uproar, and the CCG isn't made of mindless drones; tell them they're led by ghouls and we'll see how long they'll continue to obey the Washuu.

Kaneki killing Arima will only convince ghouls, not humans. And the former One-Eyed King could have done that already, if Eto and Arima hadn't made the whole ghoul world hate Aogiri as much as the CCG.

Moreover, the power of manipulation is a very vague deterrent. Who are they manipulating, exactly? What makes them so fearsome? Humans are completely impotent before ghouls, they can only be opposed by an organized institution like the CCG. So what will remain to V if they're taken away their army? What good will controlling the media do then?

This is speculation based on what little we know, but the best I could conceive about the real importance of V is that they actually are crucial to what they claim is their goal: maintaining the balance. They "rule the world" and whatnot by keeping both humans and ghouls ignorant, but they are a large organization of both species that ensure ghouls don't overrun human society and vice versa. They let them slaughter each other since forever because that's the most convenient way, one that at the same time ensures the world keeps needing something like V.

Otherwise, imagining them as nothing more than the birdcage that will free man and ghoul alike once it is broken open... is far too optimistic, in my opinion. They will need to be replaced rather than removed.

Viz is distributing a new novel that includes six short stories based on Tokyo Ghoul manga and anime characters. Tokyo Ghoul: Days is written by Shin Towada and Illustrated by Ishida Sui. These six short stories incorporate tales of the daily lives of both humans and ghouls who visit Anteiku.
Tokyo Ghoul Wikia said:
Many conflicts and incidents arise involving the clientele of the café Anteiku, where Ghouls gather. Yoshimura, the café's owner, is harboring suspicions about a certain someone. What sort of darkness will that person bring between those who hunt and those who are hunted? This book chronicles six all-new stories from the Tokyo Ghoul universe.
You can read the whole first chapter [The Bible] (Fully Translated) here: http://www.viz.com/read/books/tokyo...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

I see spoilers from netabare being discussed almost every week and those confirmed fake, just as other members said they probably would be.
Has netabare ever posted spoilers that were legit?

They take them off 2chan, where users have just put up whatever the hell they want. Netabare doesn't post real text spoilers until Raws are publicly released

New to this forum :P. So @WithYouInSpirit has been recommending me to start Tokyo Ghoul a lot. My question is - should I watch both seasons of the anime and then continue with the manga or just start from the manga? I've heard several...negative reviews about the anime, especially the second season.

I prefer reading the manga first and watch the first anime which the first manga based on.

DON'T WATCH IT DON'T DO IT DON'T :arf

...Ahem. My advice is to read the manga at least until the end of the first series, so you don't get anything important spoiled. The anime is bad on its own, and terrible as an adaptation.

I'd say "in my opinion", but it's so universally considered vastly inferior to the manga that you'll have a hard time finding someone who thinks otherwise. :p

From my experience Tokyo Ghoul S1 was not bad at all. It was rushed, yeah, and that made the characters look like idiots sometimes and have a different personality, but it was great as promotional work for the manga (I got to read the manga thanks to the anime).
If you compare both manga and anime, pfff... the manga is way better, thats for sure.

Anyway... dont even consider S2 as "Tokyo Ghoul", almost all fandom wanted to rip their eyes out at that.

The anime is generally a bad adaptation, but if you NEED the anime to get into a manga then I think the first season is acceptable as a starter. However, you need to start from the beginning with the manga because the first season of the anime is very rushed and leaves important stuff out. I have had friends who won't really start mangas until they get a "taste" with the anime and they enjoyed the anime first season and then enjoyed the manga even more.
The second season does not exist **crosses arms stubbornly**

Has chapter 99 been released anywhere? I would check the spoiler thread but I don't want to be spoiled. Anyone know why Mangastream have started taking there sweet time releasing TK lately?
