Gray landed a good punch sure.
If it wasnt for Ice Transfer and Ice immunity Gray would have died the moment Invel caught his punch, so no, Destruction Fist was Gray's salvation, pretty much the same thing as with Erza vs Azir and Gajeel vs Bradman, Gray was saved the last minute, just like Erza and Gajeel

Gray needed to transfer the ice, that I agree with you, but he didn't need Destruction Fist to do that.

Gray can transfer the ice through his body without Destruction Fist, just like he did with Silver's.

Gray just chose to enhance his Destruction Fist with it, but he could have used any other attack just the same.

I disagree with some things that have been said here. Imo Gray needed DeS in order to get to Natsu and Laxus level, that's true.
But not because Natsu and Laxus are Dragon Slayers or whatever.
DS magic has nothing to do with that. Laxus has always been a monster, superior to Natsu and Gray. Natsu has always been a DS mage, yet he's always been equal to Gray prior to time skip.
The reason Gray got the DeS magic is because Natsu himself got a new power, from Igneel.

Gray got a magic from his dad, Natsu got a power-up from his dad. They both trained a lot. Thus they're still equal.
And Gray got a particular magic (Demon Slaying) in order to counter/stalemate Natsu's ultimate power-up, END.
It has absolutely nothing to do with Natsu's Dragon Slaying magic giving him an advantage.
They have always been equal even before these power-ups.

Ok so why doesn't everyone think August and Irene are the strongest Spriggan? Brandish called them the strongest which is a horrible source as we've seen her wrong about powerscaling multiple times. One is when she realized how strong Natsu was after the Nienhart knockout. Zeref is their boss and knows all of there strength so unless he calls those two the strongest I won't buy that statement as credible at all. As far as I'm concerned I'll tie August, Irene, and Larcade off of showings.

1. Acnologia
2. Zeref
3. Larcade
3. August
3. Irene
4. Pseudo E.N.D
5. Dimaria w/Timestop
6. Gildarts
7. Serena could be lower
8. Enraged Gray
9. Invel Ice Kamui
10. Laxus

There' s difference between Brandish calling Irene&August the strongest ones, while she knows what they're capable of and calling Natsu weaker, becasue she isn't aware of his abilities.

1.Zeref
2.August/Irene
3.Lacarde
Other is debetable.

People need to stop putting Larcade above August and Irene. I can't see Kagura driving someone called the Wizard King who stomped Crime Sorcière to a mid diff fight.
How in the world was Kagura mid-diffed by Larcade? He didn't even have to move from his position the whole fight, blocked her strongest attack with two fingers, and sliced her open with his bare hand. It was an complete and utter stomp.

I do agree that August is above Larcade, but claiming that Larcade only mid-diffed Kagura is ridiculous.

Well yea, obviously, gravity made him come down to the ground. Did you expect him to levitate? You're missing the point, I'm saying that Larcade didn't even have to move to attack her and he didn't even have to move to defend.
No I just proved this statement wrong.

He didn't even have to move from his position the whole fight

@Daniel9dsi Pretty much. I don't understand how one can possibly say that its a Mid-Diff when the guy could literally win with without a scratch while standing in one spot, not using any magic and only two fingers. Although I'd definitely put August above him for now, still kinda iffy on Irene, we will see how things go.

No I just proved this statement wrong.
You're picking on irrelevant technicalities while completely ignoring what my point even is. He only ended up changing from his original position because he was on a mountain and gravity brought him down, something that would happen to anyone without the ability to fly regardless of strength. I'm saying that during combat, he doesn't have to move in order to attack or defend against Kagura.

Kagura wasnt mid diffed, but her display was more impressive than CS, she was able to deflect and counter Larcades attacks, much more than CS was able to do against August, they were completely helpless against anything August did.
I suppose you could speculate that CS did better in the off panel portion of their fight with August, but idk, not really how it seemed.
So yeah, while neither Larcade, nor August were trying, at least Kagura wasnt entirely helpless like CS were. August imo is a fair bit above Larcade.

That's BS, and you know it...

Laxus definitely trained over the timeskip, I never denied that.

I know he wasn't sitting on his belly for 12 months, but his training wasn't anything extraordinary for me to say his training > Gray's training.

As for comparing Natsu and Happy with Gray and Juvia, it is comparable. It was never stated that Gray was sparring with Juvia as their training.

That's absurd... having a companion or somebody training by your side doesn't tell anything about the individual's training.

Happy was with Natsu 24/7, so if you use the excuse that Gray trained on Juvia's level, I'm going to assume that Natsu trained on Happy's level.

There is no such evidence that Laxus trained more than Gray. It was never stated.

Gray defeated Invel in base.

Laxus inherited Red Lightning from Yuriy. He technically didn't train for it by himself.

It's not BS or I wouldn't have said it.

He was training constantly and they went out of their way to say that in the manga, unlike Gray who was not said to be have training constantly.

No it;s not comparable. JUVIA AND GARY WERE TRAINING TOGETHER, Happy was simply accompanying Natsu and didn't take part in the training.

You are really daft. WE SEE JUVIA TRAINING WITH GARY ON PANEL, the same doesn't apply for Natsu and Happy.

Laxus was said to be constantly out and training, Gray was not.....There is your evidence.

Gray defeated Invel after getting a power up. Base Gray post-Juvia's 'death>>DeS Gray pre-Juvia's 'death'

Laxus didn't inherit shit.

Natsu said himself that he would go on a journey with Happy while training.

It's common sense that Happy was by his side the whole time. Therefore, if Gray trained on Juvia's level, then Natsu trained on Happy's level.

That would also mean that Gajeel trained on Levy's level and Mira trained on Lisanna's level.

Happy?

Oh, he trained... it's just not your typical idea of training.

He can now resist fish a little bit more than he used to be able to do in the past.

Her being wrong about Natsu's power doesn't discredit her when it comes to her statements about her peers. She knows their power/abilities quite well while FT was relatively unknown to her.

August and Irene also have the better feats so far. August completely stomped Jellal and company without getting so much as a scratch and Irene confronted Acnologia and somewhat pushed him back. All Larcade has done so far is stomp Kagura, which isn't nearly as impressive. He's got decent hax with his pleasure magic, but it's useless against August as we've seen.

Exactly. Happy's training consisted of staring at a fish, and trying not to eat it. Natsu's training consisted of becoming strong enough so that his body could handle releasing Igneel's magical power. And unless removing fish from your diet is the secret to doing the latter, Natsu probably didn't train the same way Happy did. We got a hint about how Natsu trained, or at least towards the end of his journey, from the GMG participants statements about him being the black hooded guy that's been going around challenging others.
