Sales don't indicate whether a series deserves to stay though. I'm glad that Jump is in a slump atm, because it allows these series that wouldn't normally survive, to do so. I can't imagine many people who have read Hinomaru, Straighten Up and Yaiba (can't speak for Samon) saying that they don't deserve to be in the magazine, because they do. They're just niche titles.

About Neverland. I have hope that Shirai has good plans for after the escape. That's what the series is leading up to and essentially the entire point of it so far, you'd think they would have thought of that before coming up with the story for the orphanage even.
Stop with the excuses. 30 freaking thousand copies these manga still cant get past after 5+ volumes. Where's my axe

Jump biggest hits from the new series in 2016 is Yunna

it doesn't matter if something will outsell it in the future
it doesn't matter what tactics they used to sell the volumes

it's yuuna now, it's will be yuuna until something else outsells it

I never thought that someone would defend a ecchi series in this thread with so much passion. XD

Well, let's change the title then, it is not which one sold the most, but which one has more potential and it is The Promised Neverland. I think there is no doubt about that.

ikr? they made me defend black clover days ago and now they made me defend yuuna, the 2 titles I hate the most in the magazine

I'm all for riding on hate trains but you know, give me understandable reasons

anyway, about potentials, I agree that Neverland have the biggest from potentials the titles that debuted in 2016 so far

I might change my mind after seeing Golazo & Demon's Plan rankings

Based on the comment from Neverland's editor, it looks like Escape arc going to end by volume 3 (which is pretty near now). After the Escape arc, Neverland will become adventure series.

Not fully escape, but I would appreciate it if at least begin to. The pacing has been killing the enjoyment for me.

They need to sell volumes in order for Shueisha to make money. The mangaka today do not know how to sell volumes. Don't let anyone tell you 30K is as good as it gets or is in any way acceptable. I enjoy Hinomaru and Samon kun, but they need to get out of the magazine. They can go to Jump Plus or MiracleJump or Jump GigaCroossed-2 but mangaka have to know that if they sell 30K that their days in Jump are numbered. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing.

I don't mind if it switches to adventure, but the world is going to have to be very special for that to work.

Completely agree, Dance manga also. Make room for potentially more popular series that'll at least break 30k

But there are still series in the bottom that will be cancelled so I don't see the problem if the 30k sellers stay for a while, they aren't preventing new series to be serialized. Would they cancel those ones instead of something who doesn't even chart in the dailies? Hinomaru, Yaiba, samon kun and dance club do make some profit. If this wasn't jump they wouldn't even be considered for cancellation. I have to say I'm glad shounen jump is keeping them.

Sure, but after so many long runners ended this year, they already have 5 brand new series less than 6 months old (and an empty spot that has yet to be filled from Red Sprite ending plus another spot when Gintama ends in a few months). Neverland has secured it's place, but who knows how long it will take for the other 4 to be filled. At least 2 of those are guaranteed to be failures already, Demons Plan and Ole Golazo are still up in the air, at least one will probably fail. So out of the 7 series that have started in the last 6 months, we have 1 likely success, and 2 low maybes.

Canning the 30k sellers would empty up another 5 spots, meaning 10, soon to be 11 of the 20 or so places in the magazine are essentially empty. It's taken 4-5 months for Neverland, a series that's been pretty hyped and popular from the beginning to finally be of worth to the magazine. In addition, each new series is generally a 3 month investment minimum, even if it's an axe job. I hardly think they're in a position to empty up 11 spots in the magazine when 5 is hard enough to deal with. Especially when you consider they're lucky for 1/3 of series at best to be keepers, and even then the likely hood of them selling well is even lower. It will take like 2 years+ just to fill the places they have vacant now, they don't want to be doubling that... Don't you think this is exactly why they haven't canned them?

If a series is meeting its sales goals there's no real reason to cancel it.

What is embarassing is to claim better knowledge of these sales goals than actual marketing management.

Isn't this year the lowest year for serialization series? Maybe that's why they haven't cancel any newcomers.

Don't give me an argument of bringing veterans back because Nobuhiro Watsuki says hi. If they are good, they will find themselves in the magazine again. There are only a handful of veterans coming back and make another hit (Hunter x Hunter, Bakuman, Assassination Classroom)

We know that sales doesn't mean anything for new series, the rankings that do.
They already canceled series that had sold more than 50K (Koisome Momiji comes to mind!) simply because it was on the bottom.

Again, a series in the magazine, males in average more money than in volumes. Only in high popularity series that are selling more than 300-400 thousand is different(not accurate values because I'm talking it director of memory, but I'm almist certain I postes here about the more accurate values).

Also is importante to note that the magazine brings way more money to the company than the volumes. Between selling had in some séries volumes and undermine the magazine, the first is the obvious choice to take

pretty sure leader takeshi wouldve been way popular than Toriko if it got an anime. It was selling more than Toriko before toriko got its anime.

leader takeshi ended prematurely because of you know what...so thats not always right.
