Ajeel is not restricted in air. Only two fodder moves might be restricted. And no his magic worked fine in air

Only reason ajeel got anywhere with erza is because of his magical advantage

That because end mode natsu actually did shit on a springgan unlike laxus. And erza did stop him. I am not going to give all erza feats to laxus just because you decided laxus is stronger than erza before the manga even began

Logically speaking, laxus would have lost to erza mid diff in ff arc.
His attack power were seriously lacking. Barely being able to put down aria tier characters
if he fight a mage who was shown and stated multiple time to be above natsu by a fair margin like erza.
Add lightening armor
and then admantine armor, a armor which will take alot from laxus
And finally her endurance (something like tera clemare can put her down, of course that had the tree power, the island power and gildarts power and other fairy tail powers)

And her top tier reaction speed, easily reacting to racer when she wasnt even looking

And then the fact that no one took a direct hit from erza sword (other than souring armor) and got up after it.

There is just no way laxus could actually beat her.

Only by ignoring bs like some feats above and stuffs like koyoka vs sensless and in extreme pain erza and wahl vs half dead laxus
We can come to conclusion
That ff laxus could beat erza

Tbh if we're talking Battle of Fairy Tail arc i think high diff isnt too unreasonable, i have Erza on par or at most slightly below Jellal. Still have her chances at 20% though and Current Laxus wins mid diff max. At least until the next few chapters are done

I have laxus high diffing erza now. Which would get support from irene not being able to take out erza in this fight
