Guys, when I posted about the One Piece anniversary it was meant to be a tribute to the series, not a battle of who gets the longest wall-text.
I will not push the discussion any further because Hunter x Hunter quality over One Piece really doesn't concern me, for the all reasons mentioned I don't read HxH, so... And also because I'm lazy right now, the wall-text is too long.
I don't disagree about YuYu. That ending to Chapter Black felt Togashi was upset that he apparently couldn't do what he wanted with YuYu because of his editor. I don't agree about HunterxHunter doing it "for lols" I think it feels very natural to the universe. We can agree to disagree there.
The Shadow Beast could have killed that one guy, but they were cocky idiots. It's even said during that fight Uvo could have lost if they had just poisoned him, but they wanted to torture him.
Not sure how the addition of consequence is a bad thing. Kurapika gained power because he made a vow and a condition that the series frequently says is not a good thing. He basically handicaps himself to fight one group of people. As for how he learned how to do it, I'm not sure if it was something that you learn. His teacher told him about the aspect of it and told him not to do, Wing tells Gon tells during Greed Island to not follow Kurapika's example when he's thinking of a Hatsu. Most users have condistion but, not one as extreme as Kurapika's. Kurapika's abilities aren't even that impressive when not fighting a Spider. Also, Netero didn't have one. Now I'm not saying there aren't some liberties taken for the sake of story like you mentioned Gon and Killua being high talents, but the way it's executed is way better than a lot of Shonen because despite that they still never reach ludicrous amounts of strength like Naruto and Sasuke being able to fight Gods.
And yes, HxH fanbase can be pretty cancerous. Overpraising and putting down others for not understanding/seeing their viewpoint; or more annoying is making assumptions Togashi's work ethic. To be also fair, other big fanbases can be just as cancerous too. i.e OP/MHA/Naruto/JJBA/Toriko/etc
Pretty much. Every fanbase has crappy people in it. One Piece isn't exempt from that either. I've met plenty of anime fans in real life that can't take anything bad being said about OP or even if god forbid you don't care for it. I remember the days of One Piece vs Bleach vs Naruto debates. Good lord.
Yep, MS translations are awful. That's why it's a must to purchase the volumes. MS makes it more lengthy than it should be, not sure why. That's why I picked up volume 33 when it came out in spring. It was a much better experience than reading it from MS. This video shows a good comparison and why MS isnt good.

I think the big difference is that YYH was only 19 volumes. Where as Bleach and Naruto spanned 70+ volumes.
I rarely see anyone call YYH flawless as even its hardcore fanbase tends to admit that the final arc was a bit lackluster. But since the series is so short, compared to other battle Shonen, it doesn't leave a big stain on the series as a whole
I think HxH can be worse due to its critical acclaim

They just arent as loud or big as say OP/HXH/Naruto/DB stans Cause YYH has nothing going for it right now. Most r ones you'll find in some threads that involve bashing Naruto , Bleach and DB(so they can argue that YYH was the better Golden era series)
Some dont criticize YYH for the ending they just blame it on Togashis health and try to ignore the lackluster conclusion

Btw is there a argument that the Big 3(OP, Naruto, Bleach) has had. a equal amount of impact. Or even bigger one on manga than the Golden era(DB, YYH, Slam Dunk).

Note though the Dark Tournament was 9 volumes, 1 volume away of One Piece Dressrossa Arc. Dark Tournament was repetitive as hell, Dressrossa wasn't and wasn't all about a tournament. People complain the hell out of the drag that is Dressrossa. People Love the Hell of how good Dark Tournament is.
>there are no story flaws
Lol dude, you can't be really expecting anyone to take you seriously when you say things like this right?
I love One Piece just as much as the next guy, but I'm not a blind fanboy who thinks it has no flaws. His females have a same-face and body problem, panels and pages are often crowded, male characters often skip leg day, etc., and that's just counting the flaws with the art. Story wise, there's issues like the power-ups introduced in Ennies Lobby often considered "ass pulls" because there was no foreshadowing, no training, or even one of the flashbacks that Oda is so fond of to explain where they came from. It also raised the question, "Why didn't they use them earlier?" Then there's the complaint that Oda never kills characters even when they probably should have died (Pell not dying from the nuke, that sky islander using the reject dial multiple times), often compared to Fairy Tail. Repetitive story arcs that seem to be, for the most part, land on island > learn of terrible big bad > liberate said island from big bad. This was especially bad when Dressrosa came about and people realized that it's pretty much Alabasta 2.0. Some defended it as an homage, others criticized it saying Oda ran out of ideas.
Again, I love One Piece. It's one of my favorite manga of all time, but I also know it has its flaws. One Piece isn't amazing because it has no flaws, it's amazing because its strong points greatly outweigh its flaws.
TLDR; don't be ignorant, it makes the OP fanbase look bad.

Talking of just Japan,
I would say that yes in certain aspects. First One Piece has a bigger impact than Dragon Ball in any aspect. The 20 years of running with excellency is one of the reasons.
Naruto has more impact than Slam Dunk in the fact that it was around for a way longer time, 15 years against 6 years. Though in terms of popularity in its peak and influence in their subject matter Slam Dunk has more impact.
Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu Yu Hakusho only endured 4 years and Bleach for 15 years, though it wasn't really popular for that long, still due to that aspect it had more standing impact. In terms of peak popularity YYH had more impact.
So, mainly due to the long time in the limelight, the Big 3 had a bigger impact, but most of the Big 3 shines lower than the Golden era Big3.

Story flaws -> Female and Male designs. Page layouts.
Again, Pell and Alabasta wasn't hit by a nuke! People love to talk about nukes to seem lit and to seem the explosion was bigger than it was. Most probably the Tamatebako explosion was bigger than the Alabasta explosion. And it was a conventional explosion.
Yep, Dressrossa is Alabasta 2.0 because they both was about liberating said island from big bad. Oh, but that isn't what Alabasta was about! :O, Alabasta was about stopping a plan to cause a civil war and in the chaos getting the country. That is totally the same as liberating an island of big bad.
And others said that Dressrossa was in no way an Alabasta 2.0.
One think you have to understand is that the fact something is a flaw or not is not set in stone, just because you or to many people say it is so. There is still a discussion to see if what you're calling a flaw is in fact one or not!
This seems the time of the Witch Hunt, where a neighbor says your wive is a witch and just like that she is. When talking of prove, you go with the throwing in the river with a rock test, that basically means no matter what "in fact" you are we will treat you as a Witch.

One Piece are very different from one another although almost all of them part from the same general idea, which is go from island to island. This is not an idea that Oda has a way to escape from since they are pirates, most of the time fighting against other pirates. It is laughable how people can be shallow in their interpretation of the arcs. If you think crudely like that, Naruto and, really, most of the mangas are repetitive because they have a general idea and structure. Alabasta and Dresrosa started because of completely different reasons, their story during the arc was completely different and the aftermath influenced completely different things. Alabasta was much more local than Dressrosa, Dressrosa had and will have consequences throughout the entire series from now on, we have to see what Kaido will do since he was a great client of DoFlamingo. It is just to make it simple because One Piece story is complex in many levels.
"Ran out of ideas"... It must be a joke.
Is MS going to translate Shimabu's one shot? The editorial department were really impressed by it from what sandman said.
It's sad that Shimabu's chance at huge success (huge as in close/past a million copies per volume seller) was shot down over his own immaturity. Takeshi should've gotten an anime dammit and had a lot of potential. It could've been part of the "big 3" till even Bleach arrived if it got an anime during the time of OP/HxH. I would've loved to see Takeshi along side with One Piece for a lot longer.
I was looking at the ToC rankings during Takeshi's serialization and from what I remember it did fall off in the early 2000s but pretty sure an anime could've prevented it. At least this video showed it like that
AIC did the OVA and it adapted some stuff from the spin off volume and chapter 1. It was good but I think there could've been better studios at the time that would pick it up for an anime.

Op is an adventure story that requires Luffy to jump island/landmass to island/landmass To advance the plot
A big bad u may got a point. But action is a big part of the series and that just goes with bein a adventure series that involves moving location.
On top of that with the liberate from the island u said. All these things has only happened in Arlong , Skypiea, TB and Dressrosa.
And these arcs all were different in content, themes, subplots etc.
And lol at Dressrosa being Alabasta 2.0 the only similaritu is Sabo appearing in dress like Ace in Alabasta
Hell half the crew werent there and chased away from Dressrosa. Something that didnt happen in Alabasta
Again, Pell and Alabasta wasn't hit by a nuke! People love to talk about nukes to seem lit and to seem the explosion was bigger than it was. Most probably the Tamatebako explosion was bigger than the Alabasta explosion. And it was a conventional explosion.
What? Pell was obviously set up to be dead, which was the main problem. There were a lot of little scenes that inferred this, at least in the anime, such as the falcon statue cracking and collapsing, the quiet sad background music, the reverb (is that what it's called?) in his voice, and the light from the explosion consuming his body. The whole scene played out like he died, but episodes later we find out "lol nah, he survived an explosion meant to destroy and entire city because a doctor found him days later". Sure, it didn't explicitly show him carrying the bomb when it exploded so maybe you could argue that he flew away since he is a falcon after all (which is a bird known for its fast flight speed), but that's only when the falcon is diving, so that is argument is thrown out the window.

Except a lot of people did realize that Dressrossa was pretty much Alabasta 2.0. A quick google search will bring up several similarities between the two arcs.

Can't really tell what you're arguing here with that witch analogy, but I assume you're saying that something doesn't become a flaw just because a bunch of people say it is. Okay, cool. Sorry to burst your bubble man, but it works both ways. Just because you say it's not a flaw, doesn't mean it isn't. Sure, some flaws are mainly opinion based, but they're still flaws.
For example, if someone thinks One Piece's cartoony and overly expressive art style is trash, then yeah, that's an opinion based flaw, but it's still a flaw. Another may argue "Oda introduces way too many characters that I don't care about at all!", and that is also a flaw.
What matters is whether or not these flaws are widely recognized, and if the flaws end up outweighing the good points.

Its a way for some to grasp at straws to criticize OP about
If were gon do this simplify a series story to make it look repitive routine.
Then we can do this for every manga series. And 99.9. % of all of them under analysis gon look repetitive as fuck in the breakdown.
Op has flaws but pointing out one like this is dumb.
People are better off arguing over the pacing of the series as well as Odas cases of changing scenes in the wrong time. As well as making arcs have to much content(bloated arcs)
Pell is a zoan user, not paramecia. Zoan devil fruits are the animal based ones. I don't think Pell being able to turn into a hawk would prevent him from being blown up by a nuke.
