Depends on how you look at it, I guess, but the substance doesn't change. Either you say there's one mafia member every five players (mafia members are players too), or one mafia member every four townies (since you can only be one or the other). Same thing.

Five mafia members, fifteen townies - with the possibility that some of these fifteen are third parties.

I think a good strat would be pressuring/tricking the newbs on the very Day 1 >P

The máfia ones still didn't have the chance to be instructed by more experienced players so it's easier to make them fall in condraction or other traps today.

Should we start asking them if their role is active or passive?

There might be more or less Mafia depending on the abilities. To balance the game.

If that's true, that section of the rules really needs to be updated

Oh, I mean, it's a 1:3 relation, not 1:4. For D1 that's good since it's easier to luckly hit a máfia with the first number.

But yeah, what Demon said, that's a reference more than something set on stone. In the past the hosts tried to tier roles with scores to try to make the balancing easier after other parties, secondary roles and máfia abilities were added to the game.

And yeah, maybe collecting hints from the first timers would be a good start. That way we aren't exposing everybody but only a part of the group (só we don't help máfia to collect a lot of info either) and maybe we can catch a newbie máfia that wont know what to provide.

Hmmm why? I thought the opposite, for the same reason of the early hint request: right now they are uncoordinated and might get self aware without a plan. Later it will become less effective until late game, where there will a lot of info that might help solving some puzzles (or end up creating more c.c).

that logic is so faulty it makes you suspect

the less information you give away, including common knowledge you've been keeping track off, the less well off all the others are. by announcing you're keeping track of everything, all the mafia has to do is do nothing weird on day 1, the only day in the game you can be do weird things and get away with it by saying 'its day 1'

basically you're doing nothing but assist the mafia in their efforts to not slip up

Hey everyone, I kinda like the ultimate thingy.

First instinct would be to vote for Zsaszy-boi cause traditions. I'd be a bit careful with pressuring the newbies since we wouldn't want to lose important roles because they gave a bit too much info.
@Farfalla an early log is . I still fear the day you are mafia but for now I trust you and your logs.

Funny that you say that I´m in the same boat, I know nothing about Zarya in the game lol, I suppose she´s a goodie?

Mercy is the one that fixed Genji and a baddie (Reaper I think?)

It can be good or bad. Those with an active role have more chances to be targeted if they give hints early. Plus they can use this and pretend to help the passive ones.

That's how Lala plays recently though.
