Well, Igneel was in his half dead state, so we never got to see how strong Igneel in his prime would be.

Acnologia's loss was more significant than just simple power ranking. He was a total embarrassment to the dragon race.

He failed to kill Wendy and Erza because Jellal blocked his spell in time. Immediately after that, he got rammed by Christina like any fodder would. Then, he thought it was a brilliant idea to chase the airship, which flew even faster than he could.

Not long after that, he got rammed by Christina yet again into the Ravines of Time.

After he came back, he showed off his shiny and sparkling body like it was some magnificent work of art...

Then he got backstabbed by Erza and helplessly writhered on top of the Ice Ship.



Saying Acnologia is on Igneel's tier would be a direct insult in itself.

The parent dragons flew across the continent in a matter of a few seconds in their half-dead state. And a pissed off Acnologia was still trying to beat Christina in a race...

You forgot the biggest reason for acnologia's loss, plot and nakama power which is the biggest power in FT.

Highly doubt any of the wizard is dragon tier other than august, though even he is a special case. Dragons >>>>>>>>>>Humans. Natsu and laxus tier can only beat a dragon coz of there slayer abilities only.

I said low dragon tier at best meaning he would defeat a dragon Like Zionus (I don't remember his name) natsu is the strongest human wizard with that power

The only time Power of Plot was involved was when Acnologia got oneshotted by Natsu's Seven Dragon Flames.

Chasing Christina and failing to kill the people inside it is a basic feat. That is not because of "Power of Plot".

Acnologia simply just has weak feats and ridiculously low intelligence. I've never seen a villain latch onto a bait so easily and quickly as Acnologia.. He got outsmarted and outclassed by a mere airship holding only a handful of wizards.

There were a million other ways he could have approached the situation.



Instead of taking his time and ripping a hole through all of Ishgar's top tier wizards one-by-one (like God Serena), he decided to take his frustration out on a flying piece of scrap metal.

He charged the airship like a dumb fodder. Plot isn't an excuse for that kind of mess up.

Not to mention, instead of sending nukes, he tried to climb on top of Christina...

The difference between Acnologia and Igneel is night and day...

Id wager that he became immune to most magic because of the different dragons' souls he took. I do t think he was immune from the get-go. Id like to think that Natsu's flames hurt him because he never took the soul of a true flame dragon(igneel).

Too bad we never got an explanation for how he took their souls or where that ability came from, or why he hasnt used it since, its as much a mystery as him being the "Dragon of Magic"

Sorry i think you are mistaking something.Before Tartaros Igneel and Acnologia never fought.Infact Igneel makes the statement,"I never thought he will be this strong" which will not make sense if they had fought before.


It's true i too believe Acnologia is the strongest in the FT universe,but you can't underestimate Igneel also.He was in half dead state and his power was steadily falling(as Metalicana confirmed in chapter 415) with every minutes.Even in that state he managed to tore off Acnologia's arm.Who knows Prime Igneel might have defeated Acnologia.

Funny thing is the main reason why igneel and other parent dragons devise a 400 years plan was to kill acnologia. I guess even villians sometimes have plot protection too.

Honestly I have always felt acnologia's true ability should have been his soul extracting abilty through which he takes some power of said dragon(thus showing why he is so OP), insted of giving him all magic absorption ability which would meke his defeat more BS and painfull.

OP Spells? What are you talking about, Acnologia doesnt have OP spells, just nameless blasts. And who knows how soul extraction even works, could be a spell he has to set up like FACE or the R system or Fairy Sphere. We already know that Acnologia didnt extract Igneel's soul in person. Acnologia with his immunity to magic is above Half Dead Igneel, without that immunity i'd give Igneel the win, or even if Igneel just knew about it from the get go and didnt waste energy attacking him with magic, then i might still give Half Dead Igneel the win over Acno.
