Well in the context of this particular discussion I'd agree with you using that line of reasoning in response to theirs. Outside of this however I think my point still stands.

It was previously stated that Acnologia couldn't stop the magic of love. His dragon form was able to resist a continents worth of magic with ease. His true form was never hurt or defeated.

Not only that, Erza was able to crush Acnologia where as Natsu was unable to touch him in a 7v1.

Deus Sema was slow enough for Erza to say her speech before it landed, which means its far below the speed of sound. In fact even nameless fodders were able to perceive it.
Simple explanation is that it slowed when it entered Earthland's atmosphere.
Besides, even if it is hypersonic or whatever, doesnt matter, cause that just means preskip weaklings are all hypersonic too, since Ikaruga(total fodder), Azuma(fodder) and Kyoka(weakling) were all able to hit Erza before she could react.

That was before the timeskip. Why does everyone use feats from the past?

It's called powerscaling, you can't use better feats to judge a characters power.

Character speech has never really operated under the rules of logic when it comes to manga/anime though. Just look at Natsu when he articulates the entire name of his secret art against the Twin Dragons and against Gildarts for example (there are probably better examples out there but I don't remember any off the top of my head)

The speeches are meant for the audience. You know how characters openly say their plan infront of the enemy but some how the enemy doesn't know.??

That just shows how screwed up it is considering right afterwards she destroyed a stronger version of Sema with all her bones broken besides her right arm and slayed Irene out of her dragon form plus still managed to fight a little.

In regards to the Dragons' tiers, it would be a joke to say that Acnologia is considered "top-tier", let alone on Igneel's level.

The only dragons who should be classified as top-tier would be Igneel and possibly a few of the parent dragons. Most of the GMG dragons along with Dragon Irene and Acnologia are low-tier in my book.



Atlas Flame might be one exception. I would have no problem placing him on a mid-tier dragon's skill level.

Quite honestly, the reputation of Dragons has been tarnished badly over the last arc... it was rather a pitiful display.

Stop downplaying Acnologia, the plot makes characters as strong as they need to be.

Acnologia was split into two forms, his dragon form was captured on a boat, disabling him. It affected his human form, he couldn't move or use magic. He was sitting duck and got killed. It was been repeated foreshadowed throughout the story that love is the strongest magic. And Acnologis can't absorb that one.

You forgot the biggest reason for acnologia's loss, plot and nakama power which is the biggest power in FT.

Highly doubt any of the wizard is dragon tier other than august, though even he is a special case. Dragons >>>>>>>>>>Humans. Natsu and laxus tier can only beat a dragon coz of there slayer abilities only.

Well, Igneel was in his half dead state, so we never got to see how strong Igneel in his prime would be.

Acnologia's loss was more significant than just simple power ranking. He was a total embarrassment to the dragon race.

He failed to kill Wendy and Erza because Jellal blocked his spell in time. Immediately after that, he got rammed by Christina like any fodder would. Then, he thought it was a brilliant idea to chase the airship, which flew even faster than he could.

Not long after that, he got rammed by Christina yet again into the Ravines of Time.

After he came back, he showed off his shiny and sparkling body like it was some magnificent work of art...

Then he got backstabbed by Erza and helplessly writhered on top of the Ice Ship.



Saying Acnologia is on Igneel's tier would be a direct insult in itself.

The parent dragons flew across the continent in a matter of a few seconds in their half-dead state. And a pissed off Acnologia was still trying to beat Christina in a race...
