Before I end this rate officially, I just want to thank everyone who took part in it.

Thank you to everyone who voted, and even to those who didn't, the discussion in this thread has been incredibly interesting and outright entertaining.

Big thanks to my fellow hosts @BluePegasus, @Emperor Spriggan and @Gryffindor, you guys really upped your game in this rating and it wouldn't have been possible without you. The same goes to @Brandish @DiMaria Yesta @Crescent_jinxgrace @Takuan @~Charging Lightning~ and @Belserion, you all did fantastic posts! :super

And in general I want to thank the mods for making this run so smoothly, I know for a fact that this thread easily could have turned to chaos without their intervention. In particular I want to thank @Brandish for sticky-ing the thread, this thread wouldn't have been anywhere near as active if it wasn't for you.

I hope everyone enjoyed that the rate, as now....

This poster was made by @Valhalla777, big thanks to him!

"Fighting on par with Future Rouge", yeah, when he had Atlas's power. Natsu without Atlas's power got stomped by Future Rouge. Future Rouge is GMG Laxus/Jura/Jellal level AT LEAST.

That being said, how tf did he end up above Wendy?
I think that was Atlas flame's fire that natsu used to increase his own flames potency and not the dragon's MP.. Natsu fought with zeref using igneel's power that was the only time he used dragon's power. He didn't have atlas flames power otherwise AF natsu would have obliterated f. rogue there. A drgon's power is far beyond a human's reach esp. at the time of GMG arc.
F. rogue was probably stronger than gmg level jura/laxus/jellal.

Sure, and Ajeel tanked a punch to the face from Natsu, the guy who oneshotted FH Zeref, doesnt change the fact that Ajeel, like God Serena, is a weakling. Even freakin Cobra tanked several hits from the guy who oneshotted God Serena.

WSD Sting is stronger than most spriggans, its no surprise that WSD F.Rogue is as well, and he is, as is all the GMG dragons, and Mard and Hades.
Spriggans suck dude, their "stronger than previous enemies" hype obviously wasnt counting the big dogs, was probably just referring to grunts like the 7 kin and the 9 Demon Gates, or maybe as an organisation all 12 are more of a threat than any previous organisation, individually they're nothing
Ajeel tanked a punch from base natsu and then later on got beaten by elfman and lissanna. That means elfman + lissanna > base natsu > Acnologia> FHZeref :p

Wait wait wait...

Kagura was above Wendy tf?

Future Rogue above Wendy? The same guy who got beat by AF Natsu who was weaker than Tartarus DF Natsu...

I do not see how that happened at all...

Wendy has more feats than Kagura or Mira this arc , yet she ends up below two outdated characters in comparison to her, and 2 characters who have feats, but not on Wendy's level
Mira beat Jacob (who was overpowering Base Natsu in CQC) in Base Satan Soul... She's far from outdated.

The outdated ones are Mard and Hades, I didn't say she's outdated.

"What you are seeing right now is your Historia. A tale of friendship, family, betrayal, love...and death. What a beautiful, sordid Historia indeed."

It wasn't his time!

#24

NEINHART
Score: 7,450

Highest score: 10.5 x 1 @Star Frost
Lowest score: 3 x 1 @Doughboy (You're dead to me)
My score: 9/12

BEST SPELL

Historia of the Dead

Neinhart's signature Magic, which allows him to look into the hearts of others, view and create a replica of the deceased of those in the individual's past that made a lasting impact upon them, be it as a result of hard-fought combat, love, or simply immense respect. He has noted that the replicas are not illusions, as he gives "life" into the past Historias, with them retaining their personalities, memories, as well as any Magic and abilities they possessed from their lifetime. A snap of his fingers or wave of his arms can both create or dispel the life replicas. Depending on the Magic Power his summoned Historias, it's possible for Neinhart to tire out or feel drained from the massive reserves of Magic Power they consume or use. However, it has been remarked that those very same Historias are considerably less powerful than their original selves.

BEST FIGHT

Neinhart vs. Erza, Kagura, Jellal

Neinhart first toys with Kagura by not only summoning her beloved, deceased brother Simon, but promptly removing his entity from the battlefield. As Jellal calls Neinhart's summons mere illusions, Neinhart describes his creations as beings with their own personalities and memories, blasting both Jellal and Kagura into the sea, thus leaving Erza by herself. Utilizing his Magic, he materializes Ikaruga's Historia and soon Azuma's as well, the duo quickly overwhelming Erza completely. To make the situation even more hopeless, Neinhart summons not only Kyôka to ensure Erza's utter defeat, but also Historia of the other Mages all across the Southern front battlefield. Neinhart only spectates as his summons attack, overwhelm, and torture Erza, predicting her death as an addition to his Historia. However, much to his astonishment, Erza is able to dispel her three Historia through sheer intimidation before she faints, just as an angry Jellal returns, with Kagura in tow. Resorting to blackmailing Jellal by summoning Simon's entity once more, Neinhart is stunned to see Kagura destroy his creation. Having nothing at his disposal anymore, Neinhart is directly hit by Jellal's Grand Chariot, marking his ultimate defeat as he falls into the sea.

Overview
Magic: Historia of the Dead, Wind Magic

Affiliation: Spriggan 12

I know I'm in the minority but I personally don't think Neinhart is the weakest of the Spriggan 12. Don't let that Erza/Irene confusion and Natsu's convenient one shot distract you from the fact that this guy is the definition of your past coming back to haunt you. He not only summons entities to attack you on a physical level, but also emotionally and mentally. He literally doesn't have to fight, but that doesn't mean he can't as we saw when he confronted Brandish with his wind magic. Granted the historias aren't as strong as the originals but they still pack some serious power. Neinhart was able to sustain up to 8 Historias at the same time, fighting in different locations. His stamina has been called into question but you have to admit, It takes a lot to sustain other "living" beings that basically feed on his energy. I feel like he's underrated because he had the unfortunate luck of going up against BOTH Natsu and Erza.

It's a bit too early for Neinhart to get out when Hades and Mard Geer are still in...

Lately, I've noticed that my scores are always the lowest when it comes to pre-timeskip characters. And I do this on purpose because the power inflation has been so ridiculous. I mean you have someone like Natsu who grew so much after one year of training that his base form is arguably equivalent or superior to his Tartaros DF form. As we saw with Jacob, Natsu indeed struggled quite a bit before taking him down with FDKM. That means the majority of characters in the Alvarez Arc (including the Spriggans) should be ranked higher than someone from the Tenrou Island Arc or Tartaros Arc.

I didn't take part in the power rate, but I'm glad to see that Mard Geer and Hades were at least able to beat a failed Spriggan like Neinhart.

Not gonna lie, but I got a little satisfaction out of this elimination...

Mistakes tend to be forgotten with time... but not in my case. The wounds from the last arc are still fresh and stinging. And I owe it completely to the Spriggans for that.

Sad to see Neinhart go out this early.

Tbh I always thought he was pretty powerful, his downside is that his effectiveness depends on the person he's facing. I mean, he had Erza in a tough situation before the whole magic eyes fiasco (which never got explained).

Neinhart leaves the Building earlier then expected by me,but i really don't know how a Member of the 12 can be out this soon honestly makes no sense to me but yeah that's to be expected somewhat in this Rating that already surprised us with Rogue's Early Elimination for me and Ultear staying longer then needed.
Let's see where this goes.

Neinhart literally brought back Hades along with a battlefield filled with Wizard Saint level characters (Kyouka, Ur, ect.) like nothing and oneshotted current Jellal. How tf is he lower than Mard Geer or Hades???

Lyon Vastia
Score: 5.067

Highest score: 8.5 x 1 (@Crescent_jinxgrace )
Lowest score: 1 x 2 (@Berty, @DiMaria Yesta )
My score: 6.5/12

Well, this was a disappointment :notrust I expected him to rank higher since I strongly believe he's still one of the more underrated mages in the story, and when Jura Neekis left Lamia Scale to join the Magic Council, he became the ace of Lamia Scale. I think that's something of note, also, this might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Lyon in the Grand Magic Games was one of the stronger mages in the tournament, since he fought to a draw with Kagura, and he was stronger than both Gray and Natsu on Galuna Island. He possesses Ice Make magic and Snow Magic, but unlike his sibling disciple Gray who uses Static Ice Make, he specializes in Dynamic Ice Make, which allows him to make living creatures out of ice.

BEST SPELL
Iced Shell

Now, I know that this spell is somewhat of a meme in the community, but, despite its....overuse in the story, I still believe that it's a really cool looking spell, especially when in the right hands.

BEST FIGHT

Lyon Vastia vs Gray FullBuster

Now, originally I was going to choose Lyon vs Kagura from the GMG, but I just realized the bulk of that was anime filler, and the real events in the manga were offscreened until the end result :facepalm So I decided to settle for the first fight in the series between Ice Mages, Lyon vs Gray. Minus the Iced Shell shenanigans from Gray in the beginning, this was a really solid fight.

Affiliation: Lamia Scale

Gray vs Lyon was one of my favourite fights in the early story. Not the typical FT fight for protecting or saving friends, battle for physical/guild supremacy, but rather a clash of ideals. It is a fight with a purpose behind it, and shed some light on Gray's background while allowing both Gray and Lyon to grow in maturity.

Apart from the psychology, it also featured a good balance between a battle of Ice-Make spells, and a personal delight of mine - bare fists pummelling against the flesh and bones, topped off with a generous serving of blood. :gar Oh, my lord, the mammariesmemories.

I thought Kagura and Wendy deserve to be eliminated later than they were. And I am delighted Sherria is still in it. She utterly outclassed Dimaria, and had the latter at her mercy. Even without the slayer advantage, TO Sherria is still a formidable combatant who could easily tango with the likes of Sting.

Interesting to see Neinhart getting eliminated before Mard and Hades too. His physical capabilities may be a letdown, however he has some seriously impressive magical capacity. He did summon a historia of Hades, then overwhelmed Brandish after he was enchanted. With those feats as a benchmark, Brandish should have at least went out before he did.

It's always challenging to assess Mard's strength. Arguably the toughest and most resilient before the Alvarez arc, but apart from the mythical Memento Mori, he really lacked the firepower of an offensive move that could threaten a Spriggan. Will be interesting to know who manage to last longer between Jacob and Mard.

I'm admittedly a bit disappointed to see Elfman out of this thing so early. The guy was stalemating Gajeel in the PL arc, and was given the opportunity to squash one of the Element 4, then a supposedly longtime rival of Erza, in Bacchus, and eventually even a freaking Spriggan. This reminds me that FT always had a supporting ensemble with sterling potential. From Elfman and Levy, to Cana, Loke and the Raijinshuu, etc.

It is unfortunate Mashima never gave them a proper chance to further develop their strength, after initially showing glimpses of their abilities to the readers. Rather than overexposing the main cast, he could have diversify things a bit better, especially with the increasingly larger group of foes they had to face as the story progressed.

Even the main characters like Gray, Erza and Gajeel, could have fleshed out their abilities in a better way. Ice-Make was one of the most flexible and dynamic magic, which revolves around how innovative the user's mind is. Since Erza had already occupied the role of magical knight/swordswoman, I thought Gray could had employ Ice-Make to conjure weapons leading towards modern machinery like armfire.

Pistols, submachine guns, cannons, bazookas . . oh wait, Gray actually has that and used it to defeat Lyon, but it was never seen again. I supposed it went to the bin of forgotten spells together with Gajeel's iron scales. Even better, create a tank out of ice that launches missiles creating a frozen wastelands in its wake. Or a jet plane with ice artillery.

All these could fit in nicely with the whole concept of Static Ice-Make, without compromising his style and Ur's teachings. Unlike the cheap imitation of unlimited bladeworks used against Rufus in GMG, and yet was not even the move which actually defeated him.

I never quite fully embraced Gray and Gajeel getting a secondary magic. It felt too much like Mashima regrettibly giving Natsu lightning properties, and decided to make it up to Gray and Gajeel to even out the playing field. And the whole idea of Erza only coming to rely on the clear heart clothing, despite the plethora of armours she has in her arsenal.

I hadn't had the opportunity to come on here and check out the recent activity. So pardon me for digging out some of the older posts amd rambling about them.

People make too big a deal about the power inflation after Tartaros, its nowhere near as big as we were lead to believe, Neinhart and his Historia should have made it clear but we were too caught up in spriggans hype to believe it.

Azuma, Ikaruga and Kyoka gave Erza more trouble than human Eileen did.
Ur was handing Gray his ass far worse than Invel was.
Hades was less oneshotable than Wahl or Ajeel.
Meredy and Juvia were still having difficulty with Keyes and Zancrow.

Neinhart proved that preskip powerlevels are far from irrelevant to current standards.
With that said, Neinhart should be gone this early, his Historia's dont have the same power they had in life as Gildarts stated.

Chelia Third Origin:

Chelia didn't outclass Diamaria by any means. Despite her slayer advantage and third Origin she still needed Ultear to negate Dimaria time Magic and Wendy help to block an attack from Dimaria.

In a legit One on one fight Chelia would stand no chance against Dimaria even with Third origin she would still be weaker than Wendy.

Base Wendy was able to block a full powered Dimaria attack while third Origin Chelia couldn't. Wendy should clearly be higher than Chelia.

All in All though it took a 3 way effort to defeat Dimaria.

Nienheart:

Nienheart isn't enchanted in this battle. His enchantment wore off with Irene death. Nienheart power depends way to much on his opponents.

Nienheart versus Lucy would end with Lucy winning. Why? The only Historia Lucy would fight would be Jackal in which case she would defeat him easily as she did in Tartarous using Aquarius stardress.

Nienheart versus Wendy would end with Wendy Winning due to the simple fact that the only Historia Wendy would have would be Ezel and With Dragon Force she would defeat him easily as she defeated him in Tartarous.

Also Nienheart unenchanted hell even enchanted, he himself is vulnerable.

Nienheart Enchanted Wing attack wasn't strong enough to take out Brandish, Natsu or Lucy. All 3 went on to battle other fights afterwards.

I do feel like he should be a smidgen bit higher but not by much.

Minerva:

She should have been way higher on the list. She gets greatly underestimated because of her defeat against Erza, Which should be a negative thing counted against her given Erza is the strongest Female character in the Series and she needed her most powerful Armor to even defeat Minerva.

Jura praised Minerva. He didn't think there was anyone in the whole competition with that much power. This is after he saw Jellal fight, Natsu fight and Erza defeat 100 monsters. Not to mention seeing Laxus power.

Even Mavis was sweating. Given Mavis track record though that doesn't really mean much.

Not to mention the fact that she easily negated a punch from Natsu in Lightning Flame Dragon Mode.

Not to mention her power drain ability she used on Millana

This is all before her power up in Tartarous.

She even broke Erza Nakama pants sword. Although she did fall to Erza Nakama fist and words later on. LOL

Yes she is pitiful but powerful. She should have atleast made it above Nienheart and Jacob.

Tournament:

I thought we are suppose to get 3 a day. I believe Sunday we only got 2 eliminations.

I see where you're going with that idea but I sort of disagree. The hype being a major letdown was only part of it. In actuality, the Spriggans were pretty strong. It's just that the same old PoF moments and plot devices always kicked in at the most convenient moment... I mean just by conventional powerscaling, it's almost a given that the Spriggans were stronger than most enemies Fairy Tail has faced...

- Erza defeated the historias but wasn't able to beat Irene. So I'd say Irene is more formidable.
- Gray was extremely exhausted and injured after fighting Invel, but he was almost in perfect condition after fighting Ur. So I'd say Invel was a tougher opponent.
- Laxus struggled with Wahl at the beginning, whereas he was able to beat Hades even when he wasn't even at full power. So I'd say Wahl was stronger.
- Meredy and Juvia are weak so having difficulty with pre-timeskip characters isn't exactly far-fetched for them.

Anyways, you get my point. Rather than the Spriggans being weak, FT was just overpowered to the point it made no sense. PoF and plot devices were more of a problem here. For example...

- Erza was going to lose against Irene had she not received PoF to destroy the meteor, slash Irene out of her dragon form, and make her commit suicide.
- Gray was pretty much going to die had he not been revived by Juvia.
- Laxus was lucky he was able to pull 'Red Lightning' out of nowhere or else he would've been the cause of his own death.

That's because we wanted to keep the eliminations even, as had we done 3 eliminations yesterday the countdown would have ended up going down to one per day at elimination 11 or 9. With there only being two yesterday, it means that the countdown will go down to one per day at elimination 10.

Sorry if that explanation wasn't very clear, I can't think of another way to word it.

Base Wendy was able to block a full powered Dimaria attack while third Origin Chelia couldn't. Wendy should clearly be higher than Chelia.
Emmm... Wendy blocked attack bc of her enchantment magic. With it she can block attack more powerful than she is. Jellal blocked Acnologia's attack, so?
Wendy is strong, but TO Sherria is Sherria with ALL her power from the future. TO Sherria is many times stronger than base Sherria, and base Sherria is near Wendy's lvl.
Nienheart versus Lucy would end with Lucy winning. Why? The only Historia Lucy would fight would be Jackal in which case she would defeat him easily as she did in Tartarous using Aquarius stardress.
And where it stated that Nienheart can summon only his front foe's killed opponent?? He easily can summon anyone from her life who already dead or even someone from others in battlefield.
And Lucy never beat Jackal in one on one battle now. Historia yes, but not original. Using UM like CSK is nothing in real battle bc no one allow her to do that and everyone just kill her before she do anything.
And if you want, Nienheart just summon Leyla and battle will be already done.
Against Wendy he summon Hades, Azuma, or Irene (why not?).
Nienheart Enchanted Wing attack wasn't strong enough to take out Brandish, Natsu or Lucy. All 3 went on to battle other fights afterwards.
Before all arc battle is over almost all character can fight to the end. Erza was in one step from the grave after Azir's fight, next after Nienheart, next after Irene. And if she was healed by Wendy, then Natsu after his fight with Zeref was still able to fight.

Well, about Minerva I agree.

- Laxus struggled with Wahl at the beginning, whereas he was able to beat Hades even when he wasn't even at full power. So I'd say Wahl was stronger.
Laxus spend whole battle with Wahl for his curing, Laxus was in shitty state with all MBP in his body, Laxus wasn't able to deal much damage to Wahl bc his magic didn't work on him. So, Wahl is weak as shit to Laxus, and now...
Never stated that they all beat their historias. We saw only their attack and then Jellal defeated Nienheart. Maybe Laxus didn't beat Hades.

Sorry for my perfect english :hmph

I'd have to disagree with you there. By conventional powerscaling, spriggans are more or less on the level of 2-3 preskip grunts, not final boss material(August and Eileen being the exceptions).

-Erza asspulled the historias with some random eye power related to her birth(yet another loose end untied, much like Neinharts relation to Eileen), in direct combat she couldnt handle them, even Azuma and Ikaruga alone had the advantage.
- Gray double teamed Ur with Lyon, while against Invel he had to first fight Juvia, then stab himself and then beat Invel solo.
That aside, Gray+Lyon>>>Elfman+Lissana, yet both teams were equally injured after their fights with Ur and Ajeel.
- Laxus mopped the floor with Wahl until his MBPs kicked in, and as soon as they were gone he oneshot him instantly.
Laxus wasnt at full power when he oneshot Wahl either, and he didnt receive any new injuries in between his killing Wahl, and his encounter with Hades, not to mention the fact that this is Hades without his heart.
- Juvia was already able to beat Keyes preskip, yet after training with Gray throughout the timeskip she still had trouble with him.

So ye, the spriggans are weak, they are not stronger than GMG dragons, or F.Rogue, or Mard Geer, or Hades. As an organisation they may surpass any previous threat, but individually they are not more dangerous than previous top tiers.

I wouldn't exactly say that they're weak, but rather the opposite. They all have and incredible amount of magic power and the capability to use it well, but they're just plain stupid. I mean come on. logically if you could stop time why would you not just kill our opponent ? If you can drain their body of all liquids why not just do it from the start instead of being arrogant ? Hell, the fact that one of them can't even fight a half naked woman is just sad. All in all I think the problem is that their powers are so OP that Hiro had to start making flaws in their personalities. And that is why the 12 are always compared to other past characters and why they've been nerfed in their battles. That's not even mentioning how they've "coincidentally" only fought people that can counter them ( bar Ajeel and Wahl ).

Let us collectively mourn this thread's loss of

Lucy Heartfilia
Score: 7.733
Highest Score: 13 x 1(@Asorx)
Lowest Score: 4 x 1(@XXEliteXXAceXX)
My Score: 11/12

Our main character started out as a less than "stellar" fighter with melee whip skills shown against Duke Everlu and basic hand-to-hand combat when she clotheslined (WWE style) Sherry Blendy on the beaches of Galuna. You can tell she was a greenhorn in magic when she gawked at Macow's defeat of 19 Vulcans, knowing she was completely out of her league joining the amazing Fairy Tail guild.

Most attention through the story is given to her magic, celestial spirit summoning - a practice of spatial magic that uses holder items called celestial keys to summon entities from a parallel celestial world. Between the common silver keys and her rarer zodiac keys, Lucy has access to a wide variety of magic ranging from elemental based to music and spatial/time shielding.

My favorite favorite spirit magic's are (1) Loke for his Regulus attacks, (2) Gemini's copy, and (3) Horologium's hax defense protecting Lucy from Anima in the Edolas arc, Wendy from Hades insta-kill in Tenrou, Arcadios from Lava in GMG, and Lucy from Jacob's Transport in Alvarez.

For me, her best moment in the series came fairly early as Loke was dying from being rejected by the Spirit King after spending two years banished to the human war...

First Lucy tried force closing Loke's gate. The Celestial King appeared, stopping her by freezing time in the area under the waterfall to speak to her and Loke. Lucy, in anger, summoned all her spirits for a few seconds using latent, genetic power. A feat that impressed the Spirit King so much that he forgave Loke, allowing him to return to the spirit world and ordering Leo to protect his new summoner. Just think if she had broken Loke's key in Tartaros instead of Aquarius.

People may ask why I didn't choose her best moment for Future Lucy traveling back in time through the Eclipse Gate or her breaking Aquarius key or sealing Acnologia. And I would tell them that is because magic wise, she has never really been able to reproduce this feat while she could always break a key (although the consequences are high for her) or use an Eclipse Gate (if one was still around :crying) and with Fairy Sphere everyone was united. The closest she has done was doing a unison raid with Yukino in GMG to summon all 12 zodiac to close the Eclipse Gate.

Best Moment:
Summoning all her spirits

As she progressively grew in MP, she teamed up with Juvia (Tower of Heaven) and Loke (Fighting Festival) to take on the subordinates of Jellal and Laxus before gaining new magics and weapons during the course of her later battles, learning Urano Metria during her fight with Angel of the Oracion Seis. The powerful incantation is known as the Ultimate Magic of the Stars that calls upon the 88 constellations to come down as rainbow spheres before hurling themselves at a target, in a manner similar to Ultear's Flash Forward, before exploding whirlwind of light.

"I am ruler of the stars." - Urano Metria

In Edolas, Virgo, upon seeing her mistress depleting herself of magic after summoning multiple spirits, offered Lucy an extendable, water-like whip, Fleuve d'etoiles, to make her better combatively while conserving her summons.

In the Grand Magic Games after Ultear gave Team A back the seven years they missed, Lucy was able to gain the ability to summon two spirits. Those spirits in turn could combine their powers for new fusion attacks such as Sandstorm Axle Aldabaran (Scorpio and Taurus) and Wool Typhoon (by Taurus and Ares).

Then she proceeded to stomp Flare, the Raven tail member blessed with Atlas Flame's fire in her hair, so bad that the girl cheated twice, taking Asuka hostage :pwnge first then Oobra intervened negating Urano Metria being cast. (Still makes me mad :cussing)

Even though Flare vs Lucy has a special place in my heart as one of the first fights people began to look at Lucy differently.... her best fight came in Tartaros.

Best Fight:
Lucy vs Tartaros

I don't care what anyone says Meteor Blade and Galaxia Blade are High Tier Spells along with Jellal's Heavenly Body magic and way above Cana's Fairy Glitter. Also summoning the Celestial King itself is considered an Ultimate Celestial Attack since the Celestial King can swipe enemies out with single blows without even having to use magic.

Best Magic:
Star Dresses
As the only known Celestial Wizard to procure this power, I rank it ahead of Celestial King Summoning and Urano Metria for it's uniqueness that sets her apart from other summoner types (even though its basically Erza's magic :-_-). It was a hard debate as the Celestial King is super OP, but because of the cost of breaking a key to Lucy, I feel the dresses are a better magic for her. It increases her durability, strength, speed, dexterity, enhances her base combat skills, and gives her spells like Aqua Metria, Star Shot, and Earthwave. Also I like that she permanently has Aquarius star dress, which helps her against her dependency on her keys like when Minerva stole them in Naval battle.

Aquarius star dress was first to be used in Tartaros arc after Mard Greer made an offhanded comment that the Celestial King was depended on his summoner; thus, he would never win against him. Celestial King thus gave Aquarius magic permanently to Lucy before she drained her last strength into defeating Jackal forcing the Celestial King to leave quickly. The other star dresses were shown throughout Avatar and Alvarez and in the newest Fairy Tail movie.

........

After her showings of star dresses, Lucy still learned one more magic before the story ended:
Fairy Sphere. One of Mavis's three great Fairy Spells, the Ultimate Defense Spell, which converts the power of bonds into large sphere of energy that stops even time inside of it. Mavis first used it on Tenrou to protect the guild from Acnologia's roar.

I just want to ask: if the spell takes magical bonds and channels power into the sphere, since Lucy is a celestial mage, why couldn't she not use her spirits bonds? So some fans ask why she morphed into Aquarius's star dress before performing it during Alvarez.

I think she was using her love of her spirits in the spell.

So even though the spirits didn't make a cameo appearance at the end of the manga nor were they sensory linked by Meredy, I feel they were there in "spirit" helping Lucy as everyone else in defeating Acnologia.
