First chapter raws will be out with the next YJ issue. So on Monday, or Thursday-Saturday next week.
Nice to see my two favorite series (Kaguya and Umaru) positioned right next to each other with decent placement. Looks like quite a few things are absent in this issue but are making quick returns. I stumbled across some raws for Bathroom no Pepen, and the little kappa thing looked pretty cute. It kind of gave off a "mascot character" vibe. Is this basically just an SOL involving a kappa (or whatever that creature is)?
As long as the studio animating it isn't garbage and the adaptation doesn't take any major liberties with the story, I think it'll be a big hit. While some of the battle-like mindgames have died down a bit in more recent chapters (due to amazing character development), the crazy psychological warfare of the beginning of the series was perfectly blended in with comedy and romance. Considering how Kaguya ranked in the top 50 series sold for 2017, I'm sure they're not going to risk haphazardly throwing together an adaptation and botching it.
I honestly have no clue who will be able to pull the anime off well, I'm kind of concerned. They'll also need a good director for it but I have no idea who would be a good fit. This is Young Jump we're talking about after all, it seems like whatever doesn't get a botched anime adaptation is the exception...
I thought that both seasons of Umaru were good adaptations, but those may be a bit easier to do due to the whole cute-girls-doing-cute-things premise of the series. While I've never read it, it looks like Golden Kamuy is one of WYJ's bigger series currently running and the provided images for the upcoming anime look well-drawn at the very least. I don't really know the history of Young Jump anime adaptations, but hopefully they've learned from their past mistakes if that's the case.
