You tried to manipulate me D:
Hmm, this is my second time recalling it for you xD

To me it kind of depends. In a game like Skyrim (sry people that like traditional TES '-') or New Vegas that you have so much variety from the very start of the game and so many different builds I don't feel it at all. But now for instance I'm playing Bloodborne (which is rather lineal for a souls game but some aspects remain) and going into a huge dark forest trying to not miss a single item is a pain.
It's the same for me personally as well. A good game is a good game. But these kinds of over-saturated trends in games can turn a lot of people off.

Mainly cause open world is often done pretty sloppily.

It's often just tacked on to make it appear like there are a lot of things to do, rather than having the game built around it in a way which actually makes there lots of things for you to do.

To me, open world isn't just about picking up every single lost letter/collecting every type of bean/capturing every different kind of monster - it's more about being thrown into a living world and making the story for yourself.

For it to give anything to a game, it has to be the main focus of the game - Elder Scrolls games are a good example, as you don't need to bother doing any of the main quest at all to have an enjoyable experience.

In fact, apart from Daggerfall and Oblivion, I don't think I bothered with the main stories of any of them.
On Skyrim, I immediately ignored the main quest and set off to do my own thing.

The main story, in these games, has never been interesting enough for me to waste time on it.

To Zelda's credit, the game always had a pretty huge over-world by contemporary standards, so it moving to open world wasn't surprising (or unwelcome IMO). But whenever I see they're turning sports games into open world stuff I know something has probably worn out it's welcome.

@Organizized How was Florida?
I liked it. The kids’ performances were about what you can expect from unestablished child actors, but there’s a charm in that. The contrasts between the harsh reality and the way the story is told through the eyes of the “innocent kids” with the colorful, happy-go-lucky feeling is effective. It was better than I expected, to be honest.

Dafoe is good as always. Don’t think he can touch Sam Rockwell in the Best Supporting race though.

Dunno if that made any sense, I’m kinda drunk for the first time in a long time. Gonna try to get a taxi home now.

Until you mentioned Dafoe I thought you were on vacations on Florida and took your kid to a casting (and watched how terrible the other kids were at it).

Tbf I was also more tired than I’ve been in ages (and you’ve seen before how I get when I’m super tired).

I wasn’t even that drunk.. but I think at that point I thought I was, due to fatigue. :cookiehand

I think he’ll have to break through here first, before he gets noticed by the American scene. You know, when he’s 4.

Also, so as not to be misconstrued, I thought the kids in the film were good, but they weren’t “naturals” so to speak. You could clearly tell they were being actively directed from off-camera in some of the more “acty” scenes. And that’s okay. For most of the film they did act very natural, when they were allowed to basically just be kids.
