I’ve learned that judging the new series based on the black & white pictures, and the the tiny corner pics isn’t the best, because the pictures is usually of poor quality and we know nothing of the plots

Edit: remember the Fulldrive debate when everyone in this thread were debating whether Dan was holding a ping pong paddle handle or something else.

Dr. Stone is the science manga which tells sciene to leave the room when it's time for action.

It's essentially a manga version of a post-apocalyptic crafting-survival game. Sometimes there's crafting, sometimes there's town-building, sometimes there's action, like one of those games that dominated Steam early access for a few years. Now it's PVP time.

It started as an dystopian thriller, dumped two of the main characters off to the side and turned into a educational gag comedy, now it's turning into an action series lol

That's what I mean, when you start up minecraft or whatever you're scared of everything running about desperately trying to figure out what you're supposed to be doing, then you get the hang of it and build your base and do silly things for fun, then you get bored of that and go on a PVP server to play minecraft hunger games.

If it goes on for long enough guaranteed it'll start a zombie survival arc.

Toriyama High School.

DB started as a gag adventure, turned into a martial arts tournament manga and ended as a story of battle between blond monkeys fused against ETs, gods, and chocolate-eating demons.

Yeah, really scared for where Stone is going from here. This arc has been quite enjoyable, but the second Tsukasa was mentioned again I couldn't help but shudder and cringe... He's just so out of place.

So is Inagaki. That's why he's essentially rebooted it twice before its even 50 chapters in.

Dr. Stone is trying to kill itself. Its been in skim the pages mode for 75% of its run.

Dr Stone reads like one round of Civilization V.
Science usually has the upper hand.

Wanted to do this. I'll do it again when full version of volume 3 is available.

PD: Just noticed. Some characters of end of 80 and beginning of 90 are both in Volume 1 and 2 (Rokudenashi Blues, Dragon Quest Dai, Magical Taruruto-kun, etc). However, that's not the case for end of 90 and beginning of 00 characters (Yugi is only in Volume 2, while One Piece, Naruto, HxH and Prince of Tennis are only in Volume 3).
I thought volume 2 was the first half of the 90's and volume 3 would be the second half of the 90's? Why'd they skip out on the second half? There wasn't many success to warrant a full cover?

I wanted to see JoJo part 5 & Takeshi :(. Part 5/Golden Wind is considered one of the most popular parts in Japan but at least part 6 is on the vol.3 cover.

No inclusion of Takeshi is probably due to the controversy around the series because of Shimabuu's mishaps. And the 90s one surfaced weeks after the Watsuki's events, so it was probs too late to remove Kenshin. Rookies, Chinyuki and Psyren are the main ones I've noticed with no particular excuses to be absent. I assume for Jojo they included the most iconic within the time-frame, and Jotaro's pretty much the face of the series so...

Chinyuki has more of a cult following but it significance to Jump is more to the fact that how in God's name did the editors back then think it was a good idea to serialize it. Psyren honestly never performed well and its longevity is more so because everything back then was just doing that worse to cushion it and its pretty much more popular in the west than in Japan. You got me with Rookies it feels like an honest slip-up.

Mazinger Z is Also missing from first one, which doesn't surprise me

Btw Kimagure Orange Road isn't in the first pic for some reason (at least I don't find it), but it was later in the exposition

I actually noticed Mantarou managed to get another weird series in Jump in the late 90s after Chinyuki lol. But Chinyuki was still significant enough to make it into Victory Vs.
I do wonder why they included something like Inumarudashi when they didn't include Psyren though . It wasn't successful by any means, even for a comedy.

Yeah....about that:cheez
There was a poll conducted to choose the last character for the game and people thought it would be funny to spam for Taro. So maybe it was just shitposting but even so Chinyuki also got a flash anime and a live action series so it does have an established fanbase.

Was Inumarudashi canceled or did it just end? It definitely had a shorter run than Psyren.
