KnB is a poor example. It followed it's source material and ended at it's peak. Nothing more was required.
Nothing in the original quote "looking at it from a business perspective, if a product is making you tons of money and is only growing" specifies that they should stop once there is no more content or even after some period of time. So Kingdom should have been restarted, the same duration it paused to get popular is equivalent to the span between Shingeki s1 and s2, or even Tokyo Ghoul and potentially this years Tokyo Ghoul Re.

It isnt unprecedented for series to get restarted after spans of times, see natsume book of friends ( Natsume s4 in 2012 and s5 in 2016) and Chihayafuru s2 in 2013, s3 is coming 2019.

Boruto continued after the Boruto movie so Kurobas could have done like Boruto, and done a Vorpal Swords series, never forget the Kurobas movie was a massive success.

.
Just want to add that Mushishi second season came out 9 years after the first one, and 6 years after the manga finished running. So we never know, anime production is wild.

Hey man would you mind passing that one shot, being interested in checking it out for a while. I was even excited when it was rumored to be finally being serialized only to turn out to be fake
Let me search it; if I recall well I saw it in some sort of Facebook page some time ago

Except, Shingeki and Tokyo Ghoul were on a different levels of "tons of money" compared to a low budget Kingdom anime that used CGI. The peak of the manga during the runs of the anime shows the big differences in the popularity. You cannot compare a series that sells around 2 million in Shingeki which is largely attributed to the popularity brought in due it's first season to something like Kingdom(before the radio boost) that only got to around 450k after the first season and second season even though they ran back to back. The strategies and approaches to both would be and should be vastly different. Same with Tokyo Ghoul.
For them to truly capitalize on Kingdom's second growth, they need to redo the anime from scratch and make it seem like it had great production behind it to attract even more attention. Starting off from a season 3 will do nothing for the series at this stage to get them more revenue.

Also, was that movie a MASSIVE success or was it a pretty good success? 1 billion yen(8 million USD) is not something I'd say was massive especially when its for a series that sold 1 million copies a volume and was at it's peak when it ended both the anime and manga. Massive would be something like Gintama that earned close to 16 million USD, IMO.

Im not an expert but i think only a fraction of the late night tv anime movies make in the billion yen range let alone sports ones.

They are never going to re-do the first two seasons. A season 3 is likely though. I do agree that a remake would be the best though.

Whether the CGI was bad or not doesn't really change the massive amount of money that most likely went into the production of the series. That's 77 episodes. Its quality is questionable, but that's quite the amount of content. Which I don't think any investor would see fit to spend a bunch of money re-adapting with the same amount of episodes or even more. Not when they can continue achieve close to the same effect. Just look at Tokyo Ghoul, there's still like 8 volumes worth of content they haven't adapted, but they're still continuing with the sequel, and just told people to read the manga.

But Young Jump manga aside, I don't see Hunter x Hunter being animated again in the next 5-7 years, if ever again at all. And if they do, it probably won't be more than 24 eps.

Oh definitely. It just depends on Togashi honestly.
If Togashi never went back on hiatus again after the anime ended, we'd probably already have another season in the works.

Jojo Part 5 will get an anime without a single doubt or question though. Only a matter of time.

I have no idea if all this anime talk is on topic or not, and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

You mean Kimi Ni Todoke, the series that used to sell 1million+ and now sells around 600k? Yeah, ok. Still proving our case here.
The anime ended in march 2011 and the manga continued to sell over 1 milllion copies per volume until 2014. The anime also sold a lot of BD/DVDs for a Shoujo anime and yet it still didn't get any sequel years later like Blue Exorcist did.

I'm not proving your point and you're still conveniently ignoring Slam Dunk.

If you bring up all kinds of examples, you also need to consider the time they were released in. Slam Dunk's anime ran from 1993-1996. Times have changed a lot since then and the anime and manga industry have also changed a lot.

Also the thing is that anime rarily get cancelled nowadays. The last Jump property to have actually been canned due to poor performance was Beelzebub. Stuff like Toriko, Bleach and Sket Dance could be wrote off as such that "they just ended" and rest are seasonal so even if they stop its not because they were cancelled. This is the reason why I think Black Clover will continue on past its 50 episode count despite its frankly "meh" peformance is because its blatant filler for the timeslot and easy advertisement much like the reason why we keep getting new seasons of Souma despite the fact that the anime itself has proven to be unprofitable in terms of disc sales its still free advertisement for the merch.

I'm sure we'll get HxH reboot s2 at some point, likely in about 20 years time when the current arc ends.

I wonder when we'll be getting the rest of those big name oneshots, if they'll happen spaced apart throught the year if they'll leave a space open and run them all in a row like they sometimes do for new years oneshots.

I doubt there's going to be another HxH reboot. I expect another season or just an OVA. They did that with greed island with 1999 anime and it was a success.
