Well, the music seems like it could fit for an eventual anime. I hope they do use it if the time comes

Studios should do like A-1 Pictures did with Sword Art Online, they said that they would continue adapting SAO as long as it has material to adapt. Of course, SAO is bigger than MHA, but even so, there is no reason for this discussion to exist right now, we can talk about that when or if MHA declines. Until there, they will not stop adapting it.

Volume 4 will release 3/2. We’ll see if it follows the trend of volume 3.

You mean the same thing WIT did with Attack On Titan? And it just so happens that both suffered a significant decline in their respective second seasons because they took too long (AoT) or people realized that their respective source of material was awful (SAO)?

I will not discuss quality here because you are clearly biased, but I'm talking about continuation and here we are, third season of SAO after an extremely successful movie. They continued to do the series, right?
I don't see the decline you are talking about.

The second season's sales had a 50% drop from the first and the third will more than likely drop more since its coming years later though that's nothing compared to the drop in sales Attack On Titan S2 had in comparison. Its a lucrative franchise but not one that can sustain a fanbase for as long as they're cracking out new material if the seasons are years apart from one another. I.G. actually had the right idea in regards to how they handled Kuroko which was a new season every year so the drop between releases weren't as severe and the series sustain some good popularity up until Last Game but then again Kuroko ended while the anime was in its second season so they didn't really have to wait.

They said that not so along ago, way after the second season and the drop you are arguing. I will repeat my question, they stopped doing the series? YES or NO? Alicization is very anticipated, it is by far better than we had in the second season, which was not bad anyway, so I think you will get disappointed.
They are actually going very thirsty and were waiting for this moment as much as the fans, Alicization barely ended and they are already animating it, probably in full. Another season will not happen in years because there is no material in the main series, but I bet they will do it.

That's irrelevant. They were never going to stop doing SAO even after the drop in sales. There was just not enough material to adapt at the time hence the pause in between production. It goes back to what Luca11 says in that it doesn't matter what the studio wishes are (or in this case distributor since that's what Aniplex/A-1 is) there's various factors that goes into pushing these productions and not necessarily the wishes of the people directed involved.

SAO is nowhere near as popular as it was six years ago and before it became a punching bag among anime fandom so I HIGHLY doubt that Alicization is more hype than the second season was. Its just facts that the longer it takes something to come out the more disinterested people will get for it and move on to the next best thing. It happened with Attack On Titan, which was actually more popular than SAO, and it actually happened with SAO with the second season and now with the latest videogame selling less than its predecessors what makes you so sure that Alicization wont be effected?

So they are a company that cannot decide what they want to do? Seriously? If they had a strong reason to stop, they would stop, period.
If you say so... I will not discuss it anymore. I really like to use the "let's see" expression and get it right afterward. XD

Where the hell did I even say that? There's a lot of companies that are involved in the production of an anime its not just the decision of one sole company.

He also said that a anime can be dropped if no agreement can be reached between the parts involved. You said that their opinion were irrelevant so this sounds to me a company that cannot do what they want and don't have a saying in their own job.

Well we dont know what will happen with sao since its not like alicization is the franchises end.

I honestly dont believe corporate hype speak promises like that as we dont know market conditions for the future.

DRRR is the only long LN ive ever seen fully adapted.

It goes back to what Luca111 said in that what the animation production side of things doesn't matter in the grand scheme of themes since sponsors can just bail out of it and they can drop the series and move on to another studio in the case of Kadowaka who own all intellectual properties of SAO can take their business else where if things don't work out with Aniplex/A-1 much like what happened with Kemono Friends where they fired the director and dropped the studio working on it despite its popularity.

In the case of Production Committee, what ChocoBar is saying is really true since a good bunch of the studios aren't part of the committee but in the case of bigger studios like Pierrot, Toei, Kyoani (post Kadokawa shift), Shaft, A-1 and others, they're almost always part of the committee of their projects, so they have a say in the project.

The ones that aren't part of the committee at all are smaller/medium studios in general but yeah, most of them don't take part of it.

In the case of Aniplex/A-1 they're usually always apart of the committee since they distribute every show that A-1 animates (because its literally just a subcontract studio out of Aniplex) so the fact that they're saying we're getting more SAO until it ends it means its going to happen yet we still don't have a Progressive adaptation.

I was trying to say is that they are willing to do it, now if the sponsors and the copyright owner don't want it, it is another matter completely, but they are willing to continue with SAO as a studio because it is clearly lucrative. There are some crazy sponsors out there, we can see it doesn't happen very often, I can count in a hand the numbers of times I'v seen a franchise moving from one studio to another from one season to another. We are treating the exception as a rule and trying to form a conspiracy theory from it.

Guys, at this point I'm not quite sure what we are arguing about.

Also we seem to think that disc sales = profitability here, and I don't think it's accurate.

Disc is just one stream of revenue. Is it the biggest one? Maybe, I really don't know, and I don't think any outsiders can say for sure here.

We have no idea how much a series makes in terms of merch, streaming license, etc. We also have zero idea about the total costs of producing an anime (production and marketing cost, etc.).

There is a chance that AoT Season 2 is more profitable than the first season, despite the massive drop in sales. Season 2 might have less overheads, less marketing cost, more merch and streaming revenue. Do I think that this is highly likely? Not particularly, but we can never know for sure, and that's the key point here. Disc sales can be a pretty good indication of how popular an anime series is, but it doesn't necessarily equate to a series' profitability, especially in massive franchises with numerous revenue streams like AoT, SAO or most Jump's properties.

Is Bones on MHA's committee? I can't seem to find out any information re this.

Aren't animation companies basically just contract workers? If true, then they don't really have much of a saying in their own job. They just do what they're paid to do.
