I kinda of want this conversation about MHA and Bones to end tbh
I work in a developer company, which kind of has the same business logic, we are paid to do projects for other companies, but we just don't do what they say, we have a saying because we are the specialists after all, reject projects because of lack of personnel is also possible so...Aren't animation companies basically just contract workers? If true, then they don't really have much of a saying in their own job. They just do what they're paid to do.
The problem with using streams as a metric is that we just don't know how much value it has for anime since the bulk of all streaming revenue comes from overseas so what they get is usually a fraction of what is made with disc sales its also a fairly recent trend that sees Japan actually relishing streaming as a major profitable platform that we've seen reports of shows making a killing off streaming service in China enough to make even and produce more content (case in point AssClass only got a second season because it was a big hit on the biggest Chinese streaming platforms when the first season aires which offset its poor disc sales). So while AoT Season 2 had a massive drop from the first (though unlike the first season it was released on two expensive boxsets as oppose to singles) we don't know just how ridiculously profitable it was on streaming since it was on the top of every popular streaming platform but the decease in overall activity between the first and second seasons were noticiable and if anycase does it really matter? We're getting a 3rd season this year anyways. Jump properties never have good disc sales with the exception of a very few examples so all its focus primarily on manga and merchandise sales. I should note that despite the drop in SAO S2 it still sold over 20k on average which is great for any show considering it rarely happens so the franchise is still profitable.Guys, at this point I'm not quite sure what we are arguing about.
Also we seem to think that disc sales = profitability here, and I don't think it's accurate.
Disc is just one stream of revenue. Is it the biggest one? Maybe, I really don't know, and I don't think any outsiders can say for sure here.
We have no idea how much a series makes in terms of merch, streaming license, etc. We also have zero idea about the total costs of producing an anime (production and marketing cost, etc.).
There is a chance that AoT Season 2 is more profitable than the first season, despite the massive drop in sales. Season 2 might have less overheads, less marketing cost, more merch and streaming revenue. Do I think that this is highly likely? Not particularly, but we can never know for sure, and that's the key point here. Disc sales can be a pretty good indication of how popular an anime series is, but it doesn't necessarily equate to a series' profitability, especially in massive franchises with numerous revenue streams like AoT, SAO or most Jump's properties.
Yes but unless they're directly distributing the title studios are usually listed near the bottom of the committee list but it goes as followsIs Bones on MHA's committee? I can't seem to find out any information re this.
This really isn't the place for this but that's wrong. The committee is from the top:Yes but unless they're directly distributing the title studios are usually listed near the bottom of the committee list but it goes as follows
Shuiesha
My Hero Academia Production Committee
Toho Pictures
Takara Tomy
BANDAI NAMCO
BONES
Sony Music
There's probably a few I'm missing but that's usually the gist of it.
I don't know but I can search the committee for you.Guys, at this point I'm not quite sure what we are arguing about.

Whoa ... It's a bit sad that the series doesn't have any more special than the interview to celebrate the 20th birthday
This interview its for 50th anniversary of Shônen Jump not 20th anniversary of Hxh.Whoa ... It's a bit sad that the series doesn't have any more special than the interview to celebrate the 20th birthday
But it's not a surprise given the circumstances.
