The Dialogue
Luffy in chapter 894 is on the on the ground, flat on his back. Katakuri says "is this all you've got?" and Luffy mumbles in which Katakuri then states "Yes...I accept" . Before I digress, don't forget the mumble because it will soon be understood what he says there.
Luffy follows up with Katakuri's acceptance by saying to Katakuri "If you can... this is the end" and Katakuri says "I already answered that" implying Luffy said something in which Katakuri answered, but Luffy is basically asking again and Katakuri is saying he aleady gave him an answer.
The Context We Need
Before I drop the answer, we need to head back to chapter 883; Luffy proceeds to go into Gear 4th, Katakuri nips it in the bud and lets Luffy know he won't be stupid enough to allow Luffy to power-up and become a problem.
The Explanation
Back to chapter 894 for the entire explanation. Katakuri asks Luffy if that's all he's got, don't forget he's been fighting Luffy in base and Gear 2nd since he returned back to the Mirror-World after escaping. Katakuri has been attacking ceaselessly giving him no chance to even get up or counter-attack, he's had Luffy pinned and subdued.
Unfortunately for Katakuri, with Luffy's budding Observation, it's become much more difficult for Katakuri to subdue Luffy resulting with Luffy even being able to actually retaliate every now and then and successfully mount attacks, but Katakuri has nonetheless been superior.
The Mumble
This brings us to where Luffy "mumbles" and with the context that Katakuri has not allowed Luffy to power-up besides when he lost his composure, Luffy mumbles that... if he could transform into Gear 4th, he could show Katakuri everything he has...
We then have Katakuri respond with he accepts which is why some translations struggled such as Jaimini (initially) having Katakuri saying endure it or rise to the challenge more or less trying to convey Katakuri's willingness to fight Luffy once and for all - this takes us back to Katakuri asking why the light in his eyes won't go out- Katakuri has realised that as long as Luffy has a source of hope, Luffy will never give up, so Katakuri is not foolishly letting Luffy power-up, he's just realised that this is the only way to stop Luffy after ~9 hours of on and off fighting.
Conclusion
Luffy in chapter 894 then says "if you can..." and we can finish the sentence with "... let me go into Gear 4th, this will be the end"... and Katakuri is saying he already accepted his challenge.
What Katakuri does in chapter 896 asking Luffy if he'll return is not random. It's his way of confirming what he's noticed in Luffy, and that's his undying will and fixation to fulfil anything he's stated he will.
