They're intentions are to still kill him afterwards
I think you know battle shounen well enough to know that it is not gonna happen. They will get all buddy buddy and they will not kill him.

I mean obviously not but that's how the story is presenting it.

It's becoming harder and harder to get a successful or a hit manga that sells well in weekly shonen magazines nowadays. Times are changing and I find it interesting. At least this is what's visible when you look at print numbers, but behind the scenes, the digital market might be pulling some crazy good numbers that we'll never know about.

I'm not a fan of reading without thinking so I cannot help but take it into consideration, sorry.

Ziga has good art but it just seems like pretty standard stuff when it comes to kaiju series.

What other kaiju series are you comparing it to? Godzilla? Not meant to be an offhand comment, I'm just not familiar with any other kaiju series, so I'm curious.

Well that's not a very good metric. Toriko and World Trigger had giant monsters in them, but I wouldn't call them kaiju manga.

The only Kaiju thing I am familiar with is Godzilla and the other monsters he clashes with. So i'll go in blind to whatever typical Kaiju tropes it could potentially have

I'm pretty sure the only Kaiju manga I had read is the moe Kaiju manga, Onideka.

so yeah I'll be going in blind

you're not wrong btw. Kaiju refer to a gigantic monster attacking major cities/population.

Toriko isn't a kaiju manga but it has kaiju moment (Four beast arc)

As for example, only thing i can think off of top of my head is the manga adaption of Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Power Ranger stuffs, Ultraman manga

Hakaiju maybe? That one was pretty large, I only know it's published here.

I think that Bokuben will be the first of that 3 to have anime, well, 3 if RxL survives. Shaft did a great job with Nisekoi, I want them to do it.

I don`t know if the fact that the kaiju looks so similar to Godzilla will help the series survive.

The scientist/military guy couldn't find a better time to talk with the MC than during school hours? That the MC survived a shockwave strong enough to destroy concrete is too much plot armor in the first chapter.
