Thanks, now I understand it better. But how about series that are cancelled? Why those authors don't pick their manga and go to other publisher?
Who would want it? Unless your name is Shaman King ofc.

Most cases it's because the author doesn't have the motivation or the alternative isn't very good. There's very little legal obstacles for the author when it comes to moving their work to somewhere else. There are plenty of cases where axed series get offers from somewhere else (usually from minor publishers or start ups web-manga sites) but the author declines due to various reasons. (and others where the author do follow through)

Meanwhile in Spain, Dr.Stone manga has been licensed.

Let's review situation of current Jump titles in Spain:
-One Piece: manga licensed and up to day. Anime stopped in Ennies Lobby. Spanish main anime editorial is releasing now the movies, but no news about anime.
-Haikyuu: Anime licensed by main anime editorial (we have it in Netflix). Manga isn't licensed, and none of 3 main manga editorials want it because spokon manga sales in Spain are cursed (and Kuroko no Basket terrible sales gave spokon the final nail).
-Boku no Hero Academia: Manga licensed and up to day. Anime not licensed because main anime editorial is now busy releasing DVDs of old stuff from 90s (and while rights are by Viz Europe, they also had Yokai Watch and main anime editorial got it).
-Black Clover: Manga licensed and up to day. Anime licensed by main anime editorial.

Yep, Black Clover is the big winner.
Does spanish mangas redraw the sound effects like Viz etc does?

I think so, but actually not sure. Should check tomorrow for some Hero Academia volumes to confirm.

Welp, that pic made me think again we won't never get Haikyuu manga here. Kuroko no Basket practically not selling has killed spokon manga here.

What? Spain is second in the ranking of basketball. It reminds me that Eyeshield was a flop in the United States.

It received a reprint 3 years after all volumes came out in 2011. All 37 volumes, no cancel half way.

Eyeshield21 is part of "Old Viz Media" where that can/will cut a series short (hitman reborn, gintama).

Oh yeah Reborn was a mega flop in the US as well and I think Gintama only got released here waa because the translator liked working on it despite the fact that the series never sold well. Viz has always seemingly back pedaled whenever an old series gets fraction again. Remember how Jojo originally flopped in the US and over a decade later with its new found popularity Viz licensed the Jojo premiums and released the entire series again starting with Part one.

Spain had some basket anime that were popular in the past (Dash!! Kappei or Slam Dunk), but with kuroko the sales were pretty bad and Ivrea (the editorial) says in twitter they will never license a spokon again.

Shonen Jump influence chain before Dragon Ball

I forgot about Astro Kyuudan: that crazy 1972-76 mix of baseball and martial arts manga. Think about it as some sort of baseball Inazuma Eleven . Never got anime, but got PS2 game in 2000s plus 9 episodes TV drama. I'm going to watch it this week lol

You can "blame" Toei for not wanting to adapt Kinnikuman. It's been how many years since Nisei? At least they did some stuff for the pachinko's, it looks really good not gonna lie.

Rather than Toei alone, its probably TV Tokyo's call. Nisei started on a daytime slot and was subsequently sent to a late night slot from the second season. It was paired with Shaman King and did decent ratings for that time but I'd venture that they simply had other series that they felt could bring in more money. Its probably a similar reason now though with the recent remake rush, anything is possible.
