I most likely repeat myself, but I still consider it hilarious, that so many people didn t doubt Soo Won. Do the people of Kouka have so little imagination?

I assume it is easier to bash her uncle then to admit that her father was not the best king.

Yona should also take in mind that she only heard one point of view, but she acts as if its the single truth, though it could be true that her naive thoughts are the "sole truth".

The thing is that she words it as if she understood why Yu-hon was not made the King after learning what he did in Xing, which makes no sense.
Well, yeah I guess she is thinking about this a little too righteously. Though, by her own judgement Soo-Won is a good King despite any "killings" by him in the process to protect Kouka. And she has also mentioned somewhere that she knows Il wasn't the best king. So I think we are having a kind of contradiction in her character, and Kusa isn't realising it.

Oh I also thought of something else. This could be why Zeno never wanted to guide Yona to take over the throne, maybe he knew that this fanatic stuff would happen with the public, and Hiryuu wasn't all that happy in his previous incarnation. I wonder what Zeno will do now, he also suggests that they shouldn't stay there too long.

I am pretty sure he knows it. Just think how the people reacted when he became the priest. I hope he does remember it.

alright.. the yona wanking is annoying to read.. even with all she did.. a rumor like that? uhh the author seems to be trying a bit too hard tbh..

in any case.. tetora is really cool damn!! not only she is strong but her dialogues are so funny! xD

well.. as long as yona doesnt find killing the captives wrong but the method used to kill them were killed wrong.. i guess im okay with it.. because thats seems just a difference in opinion.. but saying yu-hon was wrong to kill the captives will be naive.. idk what exactly she meant..

but it seemed more like she was against the method used to kill them..

in any case.. it puts fear in others mind what could happen if they ever faught against kouka.. specially if yu-hons actions instigated permanent fear n hatred.. n as result xiing stopped the conflict n ended up bearing a grudge.. ill support yu-hon.. but if he just did that n it rpovoked them even more n the war escalated.. that wouldve been a wrong move.. like soo won said.. it depends..

It's just basically showing how easily swayed the people of Kouka are. They ain't loyal to anyone lol.

I don't know if instilling hatred in a rival nation, especially after defeating them and then adding salt to their wounds, is a good idea. Nearly all of Xing hated Kouka with a passion because of it. So not sure, well if there is an explanation later then well and good, but I don't know if Kusa will address this again.

fear will work well against you.. if you know you are weak.. n its not just about you but your people as well.. so.. as leader.. you wouldn't want to fight against a country that you know you are weak against.. n you know what would happen if you lose..

fear n hatred are kinda vice versa in this matter.. you cant make another country fear your power without making them hate you..

besides.. the five tribes kinda separated in king ll's era.. they dont go along well.. at least in joo-nams era..(where the event took place) fire earth sky & wind were together.. nothing about water tribe was mentioned when it comes to battle power.. but its safe to say they were also in good terms before..

so yu-hon probably had no idea that someday kouka will become so fragile when he slaughtered those men..

like i said.. any action can make different affect depending on situation.. if yu-hons actions shattered their courage.. n made them completely surrender.. then that was a good tactic.. if it escalated the battle it was dumb..

just like how.. so won.. actually not making the pit wouldve been dumb if by some coincidence some of the fire tribe soldier stepped on the pit area n saw there were no pits..

but since that didnt happen it was a good strategy that saved many other lives..

@lindananahayashida I think he was called the 11th king of the Sky Tribe, which seems to suggest that other Tribes might have ruled earlier.
Yep. They cut the "Sky" part in the official English translation, which may be why some readers are confused, but in the original he was definiteley 11th king of the Sky Tribe. Plus it was mentioned that the Fire Tribe had kings in the beginning, and that's why they consider themselves the descendants of Hiryuu.

The tribes originated from the villages or followers of the Dragon Warriors. The Fire Tribe thinks that he is related to King Hiryuu.

Can you remind me again which dragons formed which tribes?

I think it is this way, so some connections are unsure:
Wind Tribe : Green Dragon Warrior.
Water Tribe: Blue Dragon Warrior.
Fire Tribe: King Hiryuu
Earth Tribe: White Dragon Warrior.

I am not sure about the Yellow Dragon Warrior. The Sky Tribe seemed to have appeared 250 years ago.

Did Zeno form a tribe? I forgot.

Personally probably not, or at least we didn't see it, but it's quite possible that the Sky Tribe was formed by the priests and other people who were impressed with him, and whom he left when he resigned from his position.

It would be interesting why the Sky Tribe was established to late in the story, if it really appeared only 250 years ago. What happened at that time?

Hell yeah, I now forget why Kouka established five tribes as well lol, especially Zeno probably did not build the Sky tribe.
You have spoke out of my mind :D

Out of topic, I really hope Kouka citizen will not end up picking Yona over Suwon just because she is Hiryu's reincarnation lol.
Suwon is now an ideal king as his objective is to push the people to stand on their feet in order to develop the country together. People knowledge will past down from generation to generation. We can see this through the scene when Suwon educated KyoGa. I consider this is a kind of king's wisdoms that Yona needs to succeed in order to surpass Suwon. I'm ok to see Yona learning from Yoon, but not after she steps to the throne.

Hiryuu cannot last forever, and HHB cannot be robin-hood eternally like @SamuelDean pointed as well.

What about Soo-Won's own resolve though? He may be a good king, but he doesn't seem very happy at all in life, neither does he want the throne and neither does he intend to die happily. I want him to be a King, not just for fulfilling his goals, but even after fulfilling it and to live life with passion even after that.

i think he is only sad when it comes to yona n hak.. everybody has some sad memories..

so i dont think he is particularly sad.. he likes people.. has a good time with most generals.. with lily..

enjoys motivating people to do their best.. loves to serve his country..

i dont think just one thing that makes him sad is enough to say he is not happy with his life..

Which is why im excited to see who these hiryuu cult followers are. Now that the hiryuu-red haired girl has been named, im wondering what they’ll do.

Its the leniency. She was maybe bold enough to confront him during the xing arc and risk revealing her identity bec she probably knew from experience that soowon wasnt gonna pursue her after. I have nothing against soowon being lenient towards yona... when she wasnt revealed to the public yet. But if he keeps on being lenient even when circumstances have changed, hes starting to look like a fool whos in denial. I understand that hes a gray character, he was able to pull off justifying murder, but that doesnt mean hes gonna start acting stupid. He has already shown his grayness of character when he was lenient waaayyy before xing arc but now a new development is in, what is he gonna do about it? Where is his rebuttal to all this?
yeah but people will counter argue "aren't you the man who killed the previous king, you aren't the rightful ruler...yona is so how dare you do anything to her"...either options soowon is screwed. He is not in denial and that doesn't go against his character becs since day 1 he said he didn't believe in the goods.

Yes which brings me back to my point, what is his resolve to rule after that is done?

This is where I think Yona will step in and make him realise what his resolve is.

Something like "If you intend to bring this country back up and throw it all away, then kill yourself at this very moment."

Maybe then he will rethink his priorities and why he he was doing all of this in the first place, and let his country's people in his heart and not only his goal.

I hope it's something like this because I don't want him to die and be cliche :P

Update:

Oooh thought of something really dramatic:

So basically Hak (if he is the shield) will throw himself in front of an arrow or something to protect Soo-Won. I think this will really happen because we can see Hak struggling to accept Soo-Won as a King. This will be an act that shows he finally accepts it.

Yona will run to him, and look at Soo-Won. Soo-Won will be shocked and say "no, this is not how it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be me not him."

Then Yona will look fire the shit out of him, telling him he has been doing a good job and is a good King and even Hak risked his life to protect him despite everything and this is what he says? Then she will say if you don't want to be take responsibility and live and be king, then kill yourself at this very moment. Then Soo-Won might come to his senses.

Ofc Hak will survive and live happily with Yona, if he doesn't half of the fandom will throw a fit :P.

Lots of drama right there
but once again that is sooo cliche, the protagonist inspires the supposed antagonist of the story. I just hope he gets a wake up call and does some soul searching and resolves his issues

Geun-tea is your typical manly man who respects strength above anything else, just like how typical it was in those days to respect strength above anything else. So I don't know about his judgement.

I really think we will get some revelations that will show King Il as a pyscho or a fanatic. Why else would he hide Yona away in the castle all those years even though he knew she is Hiryuu? Waiting for those moments to be revealed

We'll see about this. Il seems to be a fanatic and lover of Hiryuu, so I don't see why he would throw the priests away.

Anyhow, in my opinion, one way to help these three (Yona, Hak and Soo-Won) reconcile is making them aware how the previous generation completely screwed it up. This means, making both the kids realise that their parents were wrong, and not the best people. Showing both parents as wrong would be better in my opinion than showing Yu-Hon as some saviour, while he was painted as someone cruel the whole manga.

The point I am trying to make is...I don't think Yona meant that it is this ONE specific incident that made him lose the throne, it is most likely his overall mentality that did.
but soowon needs to develop and move on sorta of. open up his heart and learn to empathize. get new friends and such before he faces them. I want his own arc
--- Double Post Merged, ---
heres my issue, we need a soowon POV and arc now more than ever. and by the latest chapter we have a feeling that yona, soowon, and hak will clash. they moved on but he still hasnt. he needs to get rid of the guilt and move on. than he will be able to face them without emotions in the way.

if the arc is not right now, than it would seem that he will fall to his knees and she will come in to save the day. TOTALLY CLICHE. TELLING HIM TO LIVE ,,,,,CLICHE. I want soowon to find his resolve and decide what makes him happy.

I will tell you what is actually Cliche...Soo-Won dieing is actually cliche and that is what many people are predicting, there are supposed red flags everywhere.

What is NOT cliche is the protagonist (who's father was killed), forgiving the person who kills her father and telling him to keep living for the sake of his country because he is what the country needs.

The story is Akatsuki No Yona, it's about Yona's journey, and even in the prophecy it is written that the red dragon will restore the dawn at last. Yona IS going to have a big impact on Soo-Won's thinking by the end of it (unless he dies which I don't want). Soo-Won has done everything on his own until now, even then has clearly stated that he doesn't intend to die happily. Yona is the one who can show him the light, because so far he has not solved any internal conflict on his own or with the help of Lili.

FIRST OF ALL, lily hasn't been around that long. even if she has the mangaka hasnt shown there convos. so what do us readers expect. even If the story is around her doesn't mean the characters have too which I am saying would be cliche. I want soowon ( since there is so little of him so far) to do so and find his own resolve....but to do so he needs to break down. Probably with the help of his mother or lily. And if the mangaka is trying to make a character mysterious and complex than it doesn't have to follow the typical route, is what I am saying.
I am just saying that from my point of view there gonna clash soon within the next 10 chapters...than the kai issue is going to happen. what I want his development and his pov first.

what I like about the story is that this is the first person to oppose her even tho they have the same goals. I want soowon to find his own resolve and find what makes him happy becs he tends to think about others first and sacrificed a lot. TBH WE ALL KNOW THAT SHE IS GOING TO END UP FORGIVING. I WANT SOMETHING WE ARE NOT GOING TO EXPECT IS WHAT I AM SAYING
