They did and now once again another group is using lower quality raws to make earlier releases. We'll see how MS reacts, if they will at all.
Yeah I had helped them at first but they got a team going on now. For having it done for months i don't see MS changing it anytime soon.

Huh, I had figured they got a couple new typesetters or something after the anime news that sped up translations.

So what that really means is they could've caught up ages ago and just didn't feel like it until the threat of competition got them off their butts.
And this is why catching up is the worst thing we could’ve done, because now everyone shares this opinion, it’s unfortunate it was unavoidable. We were slow in the first place because there’s not a single person in the English Edited Manga community who’s willing to edit this manga on a weekly basis. Hell, I’m pretty much the only person who has any interest in working on it at all. We’ve managed these past 4 years by scabbing help from otherwise uninterested editors here and there, which isn’t ideal considering it’s probably the most editing intensive series in Jump atm, hence the pace we were releasing. With the snipe, everyone in the group banded together for the time being to work on it quickly since it was one of our founding series, and we had to cut tons of corners which sucks, but we got it out.

And now we’re essentially up to date, but with practically no one willing to work on it, meaning more corners that have to be cut, and no chance of having anyone new applying to work on it (not that anyone would anyway) because they all think we have the manpower... I actually hate myself so much right now... This series deserves so much more, but we just can’t deliver.

Probably. It would make sense because most of their staff are busy with Heaven's Feel and Katsugeki Touken Ranbu movie.

I doubt you have any idea how Edited Manga really works. Nobody is sitting on their butts, there's always a reason behind it as Scruffy mentioned. We wish anime news brought us new staff for it, but no one came sadly. That's just how it is.

I know how Edited Manga works, I translate some manga for myself for language practice so I know how time-consuming typesetting can be (and I imagine that's on top of having to organise lots of different people getting and sending files all the time). It's just hard to take talk about how impossible it is to keep up weekly with this one series when you're suddenly able to release 20 chapters in a week purely because someone else was doing it faster.

Unless you're me, in which case the reason actually is just being lazy most of the time.
Speaking from experience though, crappy groups trying to jump on whatever's popular sucks but nothing good really comes of trying to race. I think I just completely gave up after the fourth time it happened, life's too short.

Cover arrived so soon this week. Maybe we're getting our chapters this Thursday?

Like I said, it's because we cut corners, saving us literal hours per chapter. Typesetting and translating takes no time at all. That page with Tonbokiri someone posted just a few pages back we had to ruin by covering the original text with black bubbles because it probably would've taken an hour just to redraw the one page, and there's normally multiple pages of that stuff every time there's a fight. And that's the stuff we don't have anyone to work on, meaning we have to scab people to do bits here and there, so it’s not even a matter of lazy or not. We've always been capable of doing what we did this week if it came to it, but we chose not to because not only is it not fun, but it's devastating to ruin so many scenes like this. Though it seems clear no one cared in the first place, so we probably should've done it a while ago :facepalm.

Sucks to hear that and aha, personally me, I'm quite lazy as well. That's just not the same for others. Aaaand, the project we're talking about, I haven't worked on it for months, heck prob did few chapters last year since other editors helped us out with it since then.

That's the thing, most people really don't care about typesetting or good redrawing and such very much. Remember Panda with their massive intrusive watermarks and awful translations were one of the biggest groups for ages until their early leaker sources got arrested, and MS is still the biggest despite having borderline rewrites sometimes with their speed stuff. Now obviously those are extreme examples but still, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Your speed stuff's way better than that obviously but when it's a choice between being caught up getting weekly chapters with good enough typesetting/etc or having very high quality stuff but being 30 chapters behind and growing getting just a chapter or two a month, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the former is most people's choice.

Remember most of the people reading fanscans of stuff like this do it because it's their only option, we're not exactly getting high quality volume releases by viz or whoever here (I personally can read the raws but I'm still slow at reading japanese so I prefer translations if possible). The fact that a translation exists at all is what people care about rather than being too bothered about high quality stuff.

I understand from a scan perspective you want to do the series justice and give out the best product possible but, from the reader's perspective, being half a year behind and falling makes it hard to keep up faith since you never know if the groups really struggling with it and will decide it's too much work to continue, or if a critical member will get a new job and no longer have the time. And since the releases come out whenever they're ready rather than on a weekly schedule people will just not pay it much mind figuring the chapters just late until they forget about the series.

Lmao TPN made the list with no anime. Is it the only manga title there with no anime?

Reincarnated as a slime doesn't have an anime yet (although it does have one announced like neverland does).
