Yeah, it's definitely not necessary to tell everything.

I haven't told my wife everything either, I think. I've only ever told things that were relevant, or answered her questions.
If she wants to know something, I tell her.
If it's relevant to our situation/conversation, I tell her.

Most of those bad things have no place in our live, so there's no need to bring that kind of stuff up.
But it's a good thing if there's a person who you can talk about that stuff without being judged, just to get it off your chest (if you're not 100% at peace with yourself).
