My point is, to know your priorities and set them straight in the beginning. I've seen what you're describing from both sides and it couldn't been prevented if they weren't just "chilling" in the beginning before someone got hurt.

This doesn't mean it'll prevent you from getting hurt but letting the other person know your intentions directly would help.

It's not that easy as men think...
When I was 18-19..
I had almost all old dudes asking me out.They were 45+..
It was very creepy to me..especially if they were in late 50s.
I thought something was wrong with me..
I didn't understand.
20-22 it got better..from 35-45 age range..
Anyway, my range at the time was preferable 20-25..
Except I only attractted 3 guys I think..in that age range.

It's alittle better now but I've always prefer men near my age but got the total opposite. Almost never under 30..I would rather 25-30..but not with my luck. At least most of them are in they're 30s..now that like me.

I just wish I knew why..My friends don't have this issue at all. They attract men of all age ranges.. My best loves older guys and she wish she was in my situation lol
Plus looks is an issue for some us..

That's an other issue..Not following the rules..
1. Be upfront
2. Don't do it with the same person too long...duh
3. Don't treat them like they're your romantic partner..
