Shipping can always turn cancerous. It doesn't matter what fandom you are apart of. Even though I was never in the TG fandom, I have even seen some shipping rage that's come across my feeds on various sites. And small series like Hataraku Maou Sama had huge shipping fights. That's not exclusive.

However I will say that Shiki x Rebecca is already teasing the shippers and joking. Which I don't like. Because it's too fast for me.

Mashima shouldn't do these ideas if he doesn't plan to leave them together at the end, certainly not something clear in the shipping (as a mutual flush or something) but I've always thought that Mashima from the beginning has made clear the ships in almost all their series and He's always tried to remake the same.

This series is more clear in this respect.Just see in FT.He unnecessarily created shipping wars and couldn't give a single satisfying conclusion to the main ship.

Do not fear the conflict. Love it. Just as I love to hate Jellal, even to this day. It brought me great joy to talk about what garbage fangirl bait he is. How he was good at being a bad guy and shit at everything else. How his "relationship" with Erza was a narrative atrocity. How as a character he's about 67% as badly put together as Sasuke.

And is half the reason I say all of that that I was an Erza X Natsu Shipper? Why, yes. Yes, it is.

My point is, no matter what happens, I get to enjoy myself because shipping ladies and gentlemen is fun.

Well, I'm not betting against BeKi becoming canon. When those astronauts found mother, there were 2 bodies found. Most likely it's Shiki and Becca. That's not to dismiss the possibility that those 2 bodies can be anyone else.

We're only 11 chapters in, so this is early days for shipping. Still we can have first impressions.

• BeKi are very easy to ship. They became friends quickly, look good together.
• Labilia coming in as a love triangle doesn't fit for me.
• Elsie ships - I don't have a suitor for her yet. She's too boss for any of these guys, atm.
• Weisz (old) looked like the 'pervy old man', so, young Weisz might be a one woman man, to make the distinction with the timelines. I don't ship him with Becca but see the appeal.

Loke x Lucy was a pretty popular ship through Tenrou. Miroku is also a lusty man and Sango tamed that.

Nobody so far seems "right" for Weisz to me. For an eternally horny supporting character like him it's actually pretty tough to find the right girl to make actual romance happen.

It's the Sanji problem. It took forever to find the right combination of complimenting insanities to make that work. Until Pudding came along it always felt to me like nothing had any traction.

Personally, I think the appeal of Weisz X Rebecca right now is that it undercuts Shiki X Rebecca. Which I think a lot of us aren't very keen on. Either because the romantic chemistry isn't there or because it's so similar to Natsu X Lucy(which I didn't care for the first time around)

I'm definitely on the Homura x Weisz ship, not that I think he's 'done enough' but we can work with this.

I'm still quite devoted to the Shiki X Elsie but I feel like we're going to have to add a bit too it with all the new female characters. Homura and Rebecca both make a strong case. As does Witch, not sure about Sister yet. We'll have to wait and see with her.

Weisz X Forever Alone.

Still don't feel like I have a reason to like Weisz. My rule of thumb about shipping is I have to like the characters involved before I can like the pairing. With him it's just not there. He's kind of an asshole, honestly. And not the funny kind in my opinion. Just a jerk. As long as I feel like that's true there will be no shipping involving him for me.

Lets take stock of what he's actually done...

• Stole Pino which is a good thing in this case but apparently for profit which is not.
• Fixed Rebecca's ship and in the process coerced her into giving it to him. (Which is basically theft.)
• Helped Homura get to Edens Zero at the cost of a "something" (presumably a date)
• Repaired Happy (a rare act of charity)
• Then attacked Homura because she was "secretive" and almost prevented her from freeing Sister.

So, yeah, I see him right now as kind of a douche.

To be clear, I think he will get to better place eventually. I mean, Shiki hasn't actually recognized him as a friend but he is clearly a crew member. So I suspect there will be a moment coming where that will happen and we'll see a little of the root of the character that helped Rebecca and built Pino. But I think we're not there yet. Currently, he's kind of just this selfish womanizer. And that's bad material for pairings, IMO.

I'm personally liking ShikiMura (Shiki x Homura.) She does seem to have a slight interest in him, whether romantic or not. She did call him adorable, and blushed when he called her a friend. Plus, the friendly rivalry they have usually leads to relationships in fiction. And it can be really interesting to see it unfold. Anyone else here ship it?

I've noticed they both have a pretty strange sense of aesthetics too. Like Shiki comes out with his absurd muscle avatar in the last chapter she's the only one that seemed to like it.

I wouldn't be surprised about the Harem thing. I mean, the way Sister looked at him in chapter 27, and that mashima drew them together on the chapter 28 cover.
