Discussion Art Contest Categories Suggestion Thread

What categories we could run as tests in 2018?

Examples:

• Videos
• Animations
• Acting
• Music writing
• Music recording - covers
• Dance
• Sculptures
• Ceramics
• Sewing (crafts)
• Canvas painting
• Fashion
• Decoration
• Mosaics
• Engraving/carving
• Concepts (games, characters, etc)
• Etc...

Feel free to suggest anything.
Categories selected to be used in Test Contests will be paired with a Theme, like the implemented ones we have (Photography, Short Stories/Poems, Sets/Banners, Drawing/Coloring).

I may be incredibly biased but music categories (both writing, covers and something like writing a “score/soundtrack” based on a theme, etc) is something I’ve been missing from the category line-up... though I guess it all depends on how many would actually participate in that kind of contest.

Other than that I’d be interested in animation categories - possibly giving it a try but mostly to see what our great artists here could do with it.

Animations sounds fun, but I'm not sure how many would participate. Videos could be a good category too.

Considering we're coming up to the Winter Season soon, I was reminded of an Art Contest I ran on Reddit last year.

I'd like to suggest a Team Art Contest (3v3v3 - however many teams there are) where artists are given 3 different categories and one of each team member creates one of the 3 pieces. Each category is voted on individually and the team with the most points wins the contest.

What about a kind of " puzzle team contest " ?
-Basically the members wouldn't do separate work, but each one would add something to only one:
By example for a drawing contest the first one draw a head and the other draws arms, for a writing contest one could write the intro and another the outro or something else (= Generic examples ).
I guess it could be funny given that everyone has different methods on writing/singing/drawing/colouring (i think i'd fit every theme actually).

I'm game, just that I'm not very advanced at 3d and i'll need time to do smth, also I haven't done character modelling, just props (objects)

Hmm for the Music category, maybe we can go with remixes?
I think that composing/recording something of our own can be complex for some of us, but maybe working on editing something we love might be simplier~
