I don't believe Sorachi ever made an Academia reference, but the anime did if that counts for anything.

The most interesting part for me is how the referenced titles are One Piece, Hero Academia, Haikyuu (the 10s ''Big 3'') and then Black Clover. Seems the fight for the 4th slot between Black Clover and Neverland continues for now.

I guess it's more tending towards Toriko. Not even remotely close to Toriko's popularity but it's definitely more known than WT.

The toei curse prevented Toriko and World Trigger ever having a presence, never forget toriko was so unpopular the licensor in america for the anime stopped at s1. World trigger seems to be in niche status, honestly, where us in the vocal minority are really just driving people to check it out.

meanwhile BLack Clover is massive and filling the niche that Naruto has left for it, just look on any CR article and tweet and see how much reception they earn, and BLack Clover remains in the upper side of CR streams, and BLack Clover has a massive cosplay community at western cons, and has a video game that came out in the western world, neither Toriko's now World Triggers left JPN/SEA. Toriko just never outgrew it's poor mans One Piece status and it could never capitalize on filling the niche that DBZ left it.

Meanwhile BLack Clover is earning accolade after accolade, such as earning its place in the upper echelon of shonen, being a game changer of the shonen genre, being the new king of shonen. Youve never seen WT or Toriko earn such praise in the west

Feels bad that Toriko is treated as BC's retarded cousin or something. Y'all need to put some respect on Toriko's name since I know most of you guys haven't read it.

Tbf, while both BC & Toriko both got pushed, the latter got pushed far more than the former. Nothing in this magazine is going to rival Toriko's push so it's not fair to compare. Plus Toriko was at least a hit prior to it's anime, doing more or less the same BC does now with it's anime.
