If manga sales could be predicted with accuracy, everything in the manga would be a bona fide hit. Since it isn't, I dont think Shueisha can be blamed for sometimes overprinting or underprinting mangas. Ranking isn't always a predictor of sales performance.

Yuuna first print approx 30k~50k since it sold around 25k first week then drop off the chart (but still continue selling). By the time 2nd volume released it had 300k in circulation

If my memory is correct then Assassination Classroom had 300k first print volume 1, and TPN had 120k first print volume 1
some source:
2012/11/2 - volume 1 released
53,134 *,261,509 Ansatsu Kyoushitsu Vol.1 (November 12-18th) - 2nd week sale
not far off. By the time 2nd volume came out volume sold sold 500k

Also, didn't Shuiesha over-print hinomaru zumou too after the very good reception on the TOC?

I think they did. Oh the times when Hinomaru debuted at #1 in it's first ranking. Granted One Piece was absent, MHA, Souma and Assassination all had CPs so it had a lot of help to get there, but still. It's actually insane how liked it was by the readers.

Next issue cover: Black Clover

PD: Since next issue cover is Black Clover, and Kimetsu and WNL should be getting covers too 'cause anime airing, I'm wondering if Jujutsu will manage to get a 1st anniversary cover
Finally! i was starving for a new color page of Black Clover :)

And well, that cover kind of changed a bit what i thought that manga would be, i knew that it would have a guy around but it looks like he is directly connected to the girl (he has some kind of seal in his arm), it gives some good "Rosario to Vampire" vibes :)

Noo, it's not a female MC, just a heroine. :/ Still pretty hyped about it either way.

Taking the bait because boredom.

This is why people can't take you seriously. Let's follow your logic. Assume manga sales can be predicted with accuracy... as in we can tell if a series will flop or sell. That implies all manga would be a bona fide hit how?

You start to say something that makes sense and then suddenly drop in 50 IQ. How? 😓

It makes sense to me. If it was possible to predict if a manga was a flop or hit why would anyone publish the flop? That would make everything a hit since there would be no flops.

Eh, I won't lie that I may have misinterpreted, but from series such as Hinomaru we can see that sales/being a hit isn't everything when it comes to being in Jump.

Besides, as long as manga are published, there will be more popular and less popular manga. Even if all manga becomes insanely good there is a limit to demand so there will still be hits and not-hits.

I mean, we all assumed there would be a guy in the main cast too. The EIC said the girl is the lead character, so I’m still gonna stick to that unless the first chapter proves otherwise

This. If you could accurately predict a successful manga, then the magazine would only have successes. Less manga would actually come through the magazine since everything would be running much longer, they'rd be less serialization rounds.

Manga that would be unsuccessful would thrive similar to how people just self publish their own online comics and such or put it up on their site, pixiv, ebook stores, or just make it a novel and put it on all those free novel sites.

Besides, as long as manga are published, there will be more popular and less popular manga. Even if all manga becomes insanely good there is a limit to demand so there will still be hits and not-hits.
Maybe in the print market sector but with digital publishing and online spaces, there is no demand limit. Am sure several JPN manga mags have moved totally online.

I've been saying from the start that it smells like a Medaka-ish series, which had Zenkichi as dude co-protagonist.

If I only have $100 to spend on manga a month I only have $100. Once I hit that I have no demand for more product digital or physical.

Well, that's a possibility. But the guy on the center made me unsure

jump plus and other places are free, and assuming a future comes with the hulu/netflix of manga, money will not be a limiting factor (ie the viz jump vault, means for 100$, you get like 2 years worth of access with 100 chapters to read a day)

The point is people have a limit of time and dedication they are willing to allocate to series.

demand limit will always exist regardless of form factor, whether it is because of interest, time, money or any other factors

supply is the one in theory without a limit when talking about digital (in theory, since service or specific series can be shut down and removed by the publisher)

Apparently the 2nd volume of David-Kun contains a small joke in its wrap-around jacket that says "No offer has been made" under its "TV Adaptation" announcement lol
