Guys come on we said we were gonna get to 1000 pages this year but we're only at 132 and the year is 25% done.

Answer one of the following.

Which do you think is objectively better right now, Black Clover or Boku no Hero Academia

Is there a need for fan Edited Mangas of the jump series that are already out on Jump Plus

Is Hunter x Hunter a shonen or seinen

Was Kubo a genius all along

What the most popular Jump series you hate

Unpopular WSJ opinions?
Might as well Jump on the bandwagon.

1) It varies from time to time, I think Black Clover has a more consistent quality, while HeroAca has swells and dips. I've been enjoying Black Clover more for a while, but it might be shifting, there's some good developments in MHA recently.

2) At least not early releases. I can understand some people prefer different translations, so I don't have as much of a problem with people translating series around Monday like what's happening with KnY, but I can't see the early releases as being anything but bad for the author.

3) No

4) I don't care enough about him to give a good answer

5) I don't really hate any but, Saint Seiya I guess? I can appreciate it in a meta context for how it helped establish many tropes present in modern battle shonens, but it hasn't aged well at all. Everything since has built on the formulas it established, making Saint Seiya look bare bones and bland by comparison

6) I think Demon's Plan had some good things going for it. I get why it was cancelled, but the concept works well enough in theory, and the end where the author basically threw out all the ideas he was going to use had some stuff that would have made great plot points if they were allowed to naturally develop.

Also, maybe it's cause I wasn't that invested in the first place, but I don't really get why everyone hates Shokugeki so much. I mean I don't love it or anything but I don't think it's that bad.

Well that's quite the series of blatant troll questions meant to start arguments. Turning a couple those into one that's not just meant to cause arguments:

What's everyone's favourite WSJ quick-flop?

Personally I really liked how Gakkyuu Hotei turned out, it managed to tell a full story with pretty decent pacing with it's short run. I've always felt that if it was longer if would've gone the repetitive route.
I remember enjoying Love Rush too in the end since it managed to give MC and his childhood friend a pretty nice complete relationship arc.
I also liked Lover Rush, it felt like a complete story and the resolution felt natural, I think it actually benefitted from its short serialization. Also Stealth Symphony and its rapid climax was pretty cool, and Shudan! managed to convey a decent story despite its length.

.Questions
  1. How about the worst short series? I heard Judos was trash.
  2. Is Jump the best manga magazine
  3. Has jump had some of the best manga? How many of your favs are from it?
Picking the three most interesting questions because I’m bored and sick.

1.toss a coin between Hand’s, SWOT, and Chagecha. Like every other cancelled Jump series I’ve read all of has some spark of potential or something interesting to them, but these three just don’t have a redeeming quality to me.
2. No. Shonen Jump is a very good magazine, but too defined as having a certain sort of series, and too merciless a cancellation rate. Give me the variety and comfort of Grand Jump or Shonen Sunday over it any day.
3. Jump has had LOADS of the best manga, for me at least. From Wilderness Boy Isamu, to Captain Tsubasa, to Hoshin Engi, Mr. Fullswing, and (yes) Black Clover, it’s rife with amazing series, and that’s before we even get to the biggest names. I think most of my faves come from it, though it’s getting rarer for new WSJ series to grab me.

And also SALTY CANCELLATIONS:
-Hoop Men (the best short-lived series from WSJ tbh)
-Shinmai Fukei Killco-san

Beyond that I live with most cancellations

  1. How about the worst short series? I heard Judos was trash.
I've read all the scanlated chapters of it. For me it was nothing special but not trashy. Speaking of The TRASHIEST, the very essense of the trash manga, the trash embodiment worth putting in Cambridge Dictionary as a synonym of the word 'trash' is
E-Robot (applause)
It tried to be funny, erotic, romantic, but failed all the three. The result is predictable (trash). I'm sorry if I've insulted someone's taste, but this topic triggers me whenever it appears. Furthermore, Koisuru Edison is somewhere near E-Robot, but I was saved from this heresy as not so much chapters were available.

Unpopular WSJ opinions?
I'm still in love with Stealth Symphony (not baiting not sharking, cross my heart). I admit it can be not as amazing as I think of it though, for I was quite young and inexperienced when read this.

upd: Fan Edited Mangas sometimes are the only way to read something, as there is still a large gap between first six and last six chapters in Manga Plus. It's not relevant for countries with Viz app, but the rest of the world needs it.

Takamagahara easily the worst.
Felt like it wanted to be a parody of bad battle Manga in Jump yet wasn't funny so it just felt like a weird yet generic and soulless horribly written battle manga.

Yeah I hated Asta too but now I love him somehow. No character is a hollow existence in the manga, maybe you dropped it too early? Although, I also love Chainsawman's characters (they're extremely likable to me), so maybe we just have different tastes?

Although whereas Asta is far on the shonen spectrum, Chainsawman's character's are a lot more on the "seinen" spectrum - in the way they act as if they are going about everyday life, and how there is a realism about them in that their actions don't exist just to further the main plot. That's how it feels. I never liked these types of characters before but through growing up they feel a lot more real. I'm curious about your age range and top 3 manga btw?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
It's unfair to the manga I realize, and there are probably a multitude of characters I would like but Asta being the main character just doesn't work for me at all. I get the why he's the way he is, and I get the what, but since I don't get easily attached to characters it comes down to whether they entertain me or not, and his type (Screamy protagonists) rarely do. I'm not saying they're the same, but he reminds me of Naruto who I also despise. If there were a sorta "Black Clover but without Asta" I'd probably enjoy the series enough to keep reading, but since that's unlikely, it remains dropped.

And...no offense but the whole "shounen/seinen" spectrum you're talking about while I get it a bit is kind of nonsense. Most of the characters in Shounen Sunday are going about everyday life but they're still firmly in the Shounen category. You could say Gintama is the same way and it too is a shounen. There are also seinen series where the characters are in extraordinary situations --does that mean they're actually shounen instead? Not really. It's disingenuous to sort of clump series together by preconceived notions. Plus what you're saying here is almost exclusively a Jump thing --where all of the series characters exist to advance the plot. (This is in fact the problem I have with the Promised Neverland that lead me to drop it.) Jump has a formula-- and it's as much forward momentum (even when it feels like nothing is happening) as possible. No time to rest, no time to look back.

Yes perhaps a seinen series where the characters are going about their business feels less I guess, immature to read, but I've seen some really mature shounen and extremely immature seinen. It isn't a one size fit all. I simply don't find Chainsawman's characters entertaining. It's not really about what they're doing (at least in this case) as much as they simply don't interest me.

1984 (mid thirties)

Favorite manga (in no real order and this really changes super often) 1) Anagle Mole 2) RYOKO 3) Hunter x Hunter/One Piece.

To ape a page from Maxy --I can't say with short series since I don't tend to read jump manga unless they make it out a year or more.
2) Nah. Jump's good, but it's basically a battle mag. Even something like Act Age is essentially a battle manga in a different outfit. While Shounen Magazine is the sports/romcom magazine, I feel like stuff like Sunday and the online magazines like Web every and Jump + have a much better spectrum of manga in them. I'm also not a fan of the "kill-em-all" strategy, but it works so I can't really complain.
3) That being said about jump --it wouldn't be so big if there weren't legitimately good manga in it. Sket Dance, Gintama (before the current arcs), Hunter X Hunter, One Piece, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Beelzebub, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Muyo and Roji....I'd say it's the series that don't hit as big that are way more interesting than the slam dunks, really.

As for cancellations...hrm....

Neko Wappa was one I was enjoying a bit before it got cancelled though I totally understand why it did. It really shouldn't have been in Jump. Takuan and Batsu was another one --I even bought all of it. I also liked Furudate's pre Haikyu series (Kaidan...something something) more than I do Haikyu, but I'm really not a sports manga fan in the least, lol.

I prefer Black Clover. Objectivity don't exist either way for this matter.

No, just for Yuna which isn't on mangaplus

Shonen. It's published on a shonen magazine.

In ways, yes.

None.

I don't know, but my favorite titles on the magazine aren't the most popular out there which are Act-Age, Bokuben and Yuna so maybe that's my unpopular opinion as my top 3 isn't that common to be seen lol

Also, going into seinen a bit. I'll just say that Umaru-chan and Kaguya are from Young Jump, much like Comic Cune is a seinen magazine, as well as all Manga Time Kirara magazines with titles like K-on, Yuru Camp and other series are seinen. So the point is, don't judge if a series is seinen, shonen or whatever per content but where it's published, as in all demography you have different genres on them so different types of content.

HZ's adaptation is worse than Yuragi/Soma. Soma had a good adaptation for the first season. It was pretty wack in season 2 and terrible in season 3. HZ had more content skipped out and character moments than those 2. I agree HZ deserved much better. The writing in HZ is much better than those 2 series so it's not surprising it'll piss people off.

-Food wars (ofc)
-Naruto
-Dragon Ball Z and maybe even dislike Dragon Ball

-My excitement for the Kimetsu anime/manga is dwindling down. For the manga, I think this current fight atm isnt doing it for me. I'm not a fan of how most powerups are handled in the series. With the anime, it has to do with the community/fanbase. I think it's gonna go downhill from here on and a lot of circle jerking just because its Ufotable and their shows look pretty. I do think this is anime will be one of Jump's better adaptation but I feel like people will start to match their opinion of Kimetsu's adaptation & how Kimetsu is as a series. Not to say Kimetsu as a series is bad but it's nothing incredible. I think it's a solid 7/10 series but I feel like people will treat it more of a 9/10.
-One Piece WCI anime is much better than the manga.
-MHA already hit its peak with season 2. Season 3 is easily the most overrated seasons Ive seen in a while. All Might vs AFO was pretty lackluster.

It's not the first time a series missed their 2nd anniversary, or anniversary cover in general.
