I didn't even notice the nose of the women lol. It does look a bit off, maybe it's the scan/angle it was drawn in.

Her white outfit with her black skin tone is a nice contrast and what I love the most is that her hair has a blue tint to it from the scan. I forgot that Kishi doesnt shy away from drawing people of color (not including Japanese obv) which I like. By the looks of it I hope she plays some sort of female leader role in the manga, really digging her vibe, these designs are unique. That is assuming Kishi created this design lol

Kishi did all the character designs, according to an interview.

finished watching ep 5 of Gunjou no Magmel

they adapted chapter 5 while adding tons of filler to it and cutting out the cliffhanger

next week is a filler episode

so in just 6 episodes there's 3 canon episodes and 3 filler episodes, they seems pretty determined to ruin the source material


they adapted the Luffy, Gon & Toriko were eaten by monsters are in Magmel joke from the manga so that's nice

Damn, I'm really digging Samurai 8. That was one hell of a first chapter.

Enjoyed the 1st chapter of Samurai 8.
But I feel like there was a bit too much obvious exposition that could have been subtly weaved in better.
Some of the exposition felt like it came out of no where.
I do like the world Kishimoto has built, the concept as to how Samurai work. The “battle system” seems like it’ll be interesting.

Not sure how I feel on the characters just yet. I feel like I liked Naruto as a character more on first chapter(then again I was like 11 when I read Naruto, so take that with a grain of salt.

Anyway, solid start, but nothing spectacular. Looking forward to keep us with it though

I just feel Samurai 8 first chapter is like any other fight-focused series first chapter that could have been published. Nothing revolutionary or with an actual huge impact, but that will work since it's not bad, just a normal first chapter for a series like this. Seems like a weak MC that I BEG YOU KISHIMOTO will have a good progression towards the end of the series and a journey that may not take that long? I could see this finished with no more than 20 volumes.

Good wholesome first chapter for Samurai 8. Some moments were very good. However two things felt like big minuses to me.
You boast of having non-perfect, sickly protagonist but then heal him in the very first chapter... nice one

The world itself feels very similar to Naruto. I was afraid it is going to be a lot like Gintama one but, nope, its good old Naruto.

As far as first chapters go, it's certainly better than any of the last batch. But that's not really fair comparing a legend to rookies who's just starting out. (Shiibashi's a decent name but it's not a household one like Kishi). Overall, I actually enjoyed the first chapter, but hope that Kishi takes his time to build his world starting next chapter and not throw it all in our faces all at once.

I'm not sure it was better than all of the last batch. Felt like it was trying to hold my hand and spoonfeed me information all the way which I didn't like. Chainsawman also did the "Tragic MC getting a second chance" much better.

I just read samurai 8 and it's not Naruto 2.0, it's very different, it's more serious (not dark, it's kind of a suit), a few jokes, different from Naruto. In addition, loaded with expository dialogue, with a reference to Ruroini kenshin and star wars.
