I read Hachimaru. In general was a mediocre first chapter and a bad introduction to a world.
In the art part:
-The character design of everyone beside the cat and the machine are bad, it seems like Kishi took character of like 5 project he had and okubo put in them. I felt like I was reading Tokiwa Kitareri.
-Like I say the machines looks cool.
-The action scenes were decent, only good one was when the ronin enter in the house to attack the cat.
- The backgrounds feels in some moments like scifi One piece, in other 100% kishimoto or even sometimes feels like Kubo. It doesn't have the artist mark and feels mediocre in general(the only good one was when the 2 samurais where fighting).
-The ronin and the MC design in the final fight looks lame, even Demon Plan's armor looks decent compared to it.
In the story departament:
-Characters in general feels flat. Even series like Jujutsu which have a mediocre first chapter makes you sorta like the Main Character. In here , even the most charismatic character(the cat) is only here and you don't care about him.
-The interaction between characters is one of the most terrible things I have read in a first chapter in Shonen Jump, I think even Golen Hearts makes a better use of the father-son dynamics. In the end, all the good character interact to each other in likes 2 pages, and you have to feels bad when something bad happen or because the protagonist is sick , or the cat is hurt or because the father is going to see his son's death(the only one moment that can touch you because the flashback).
-The main character transformation doesn't give you any emotions because how bad is made. Naruto's shadow clones, All Might "You can become a Hero" or even Asta's Black grimorie feels better estructured.
-The final fight looks rushed ,
-I put the Sci-fi elements in doubt when he say that the cat were a Human. It makes me feels that is going to be robots and humans battle shonen with a little of fantasy.
-The action scenes story-wise doesn't looks promising. Last Saiyuki(which I don't think is as good as everyone here said it is) is more fun to read.
I have more things to say, but like I say, is a mediocre first chapter which don't make you believe that is going to be good. But well, Jujutsu and World Trigger also have a mediocre first chapter and after the first chapter it got good.
