I don't think there's anything to suggest Yuuna is on its final arc, I mean it's been set up as pretty big, but people were saying similar stuff when Kogarashi's master showed up, and that was a year ago.

Plus, of all arcs to end on, the loli arc is really not the best choice.

Nah, Yuuna still has a bit left to go. Shame too, because after the latest chapter I wouldn't mind Jump canceling the manga outright and putting Tadahiro Miura on a police watchlist.
Just checked that out.

Watsuki approves.
And will buy ten copies of that issue.

They blew the Inn right off the map, and one of the girls has been taken by the villains. Those things are pretty hard to go back from, and once this arc ends the matter of Yuuna's memories would be impossible to resolve.

Not to mention, its conspicuous absence on the recent PV where Jump showed off it's current main roster, an attribute it shares with Shokugeki and Hinomaru.

I figured that was cause hardcore ecchi series aren't as good for marketing, but I guess it could be on the way out.

They still included it in the video though, just not in the roll call.

Well then, I guess I just didn't really pay much attention to the video.

They wouldn't be good for western marketing. Japan still enjoys that shit.

Well, Japan enjoys smut generally. Stuff like lolicon is a good deal more controversial.

Lolis would still be even more controversial in western (or at least that's what I think after being in Twitter for 7 years and knowing what people thinks of that). Of course, I'm not saying everyone would directly reject that content, there's still some minority (or that's what I like to think) that would actually accept that with their fiction argument. Anyway, when it comes to bringing official stuff here, we can be 100% sure Manga+ will never bring extremely ecchi or smut stuff, because the response would be awfully negative. And thank god for that.

Yeah. Either way, I think Yuuna's exclusion from the recent PV is evidence its ending is at least scheduled, since otherwise Jump would still have reason to advertise it.

I get the point of what someone said earlier, that it doesn't feel like it's ending because the same thing happened in a previous arc, but this has way too much flags already all this not-having powers and having to recover them, friendship power, huge boss ahead, the main place of the series in danger and blah blah. And it could also conveniently end along with Hinomaru on Aug/Sept.

Honestly that bums me out a bit that they would censor potential fun manga out just because of the West's sensitivity. Part of the reason why I read manga at all is due to it's unique flavor.

I choose to believe that Miura himself declined to be put in MangaPlus rather than the fact that he wasn't allowed to be in it. Seems like a nicer thing to believe.

Frankly, if "Having a bit more socially acceptable standards for Jump going fowards" prevents series from having four straight pages of graphic lolicon, I'm all for it.

Call me weird, I don't think Yuuna would be distinguished in Manga+ for being funny. Or at least, that's not the main point people would end up reading it when you can choose other series like Spy x Family if you want something that's actually enjoyable and fun. And also, the decision of not being in M+ is also related to not being even released by Viz, that's why I find less likely to the author asking not to be translated than Viz rejecting to do the series, hence it not being in the new platform.

Just to be the pointer, but Hinomaru, David and Japan weren't being TLed by Viz either, yet M+ still has them. The exclusion of Yuuna (and World's End Harem, for that matter) is very much deliberate on Shueisha's part.

Not saying Shueisha didn't take part in the selection of series in the platform, since of course they were the ones who hired freelance translators/editors in order to do even other spanish series. My point is, not being released even by the main english series translator along with the kind of content the series has, ended up in the Yuuna out of M+ situation.

They also didn't have any current publisher translating them though, while Yuuna had already been licensed by Seven Seas, which is separate from Viz.

This. Seven Seas’ license is a very different deal than Viz’s various Shueisha licenses (Shueisha part-own Viz, don’t own Seven Seas), so it’s the most likely case that that license prevents Yuuna/WEH simulpubs on Mangaplus than any moral imperative or marketing decision.

Couldn't they do as they're doing with spanish licensors in order to release series in the platform? I'm not knowledgeable in SS licenses and stuff, but Shueisha doesn't own Planeta, Norma, Ivrea or Panini, and they're all participating in the platform without getting an actual revenue more than the advertisement that it's done in the website (those images you can see that say 'Buy the volumes!' in spanish-translated series). Of course, whole decision in taking part in the project is the licensor alone, but I don't find it that crazy for other editorials to participate in the future.
